Best place to stay on the Gunflint Trail. So private and cozy. You are on a small basically private lake, in the woods with nature everywhere, and awesome breakfast and dinner restaurants close by. This is our 6th year and we will be back.

Heart rock haven is an excellent spot to unwind and experience the beauty of the Gunflint Trail.A sweet little cabin sitting on a knoll above Leo lake… it’s a perfect spot to disconnect and experience the peaceful beauty and nature that abound along the Gunflint. Whether you stay put and fish from the dock, or explore the lake on kayak or canoe, or venture out to the many nearby lakes and trails…you are in for a treat for your soul!

This place was stunning for view and cozy/wonderful to stay in. I should have asked about abilities for those that are handicap. The trek into this beauty and to the lake is not easy for anyone with restrictions. My fault for not asking but honestly I am very glad we made the trek!!! I loved this place. Everything about it was charming!!!

WOW - what a beautiful cabin, what an extraordinary setting. Perfect quiet. No big boats, loud neighbors, bright lights, or traffic. Just the fireplace, some good fishing, and hours on the dock watching the water sparkle and the stars shine. Beds were crispy clean and very comfortable. Nice kitchen. Fun decor. LOVED IT. Thank you!

We have stayed at HeartRock multiple times in the past and always really enjoy our stay! It is a very special place, so quiet and beautiful. We will definitely be coming back.

This is a slice of heaven in the Northwoods. The days were filled with awesome breakfasts close by and perfect fall colors. Fishing on Leo lake is always a treat. The evenings provide great food nearby, and quite dark nights for sleeping. Charming rustic cabin that we come back to again and again.

Great stay!

Lovely cabin, very secluded! The property had comfortable beds, great kitchen supplies and cookware. We enjoyed the lake and catch and release fishing from the kayaks provided! It felt like a step back in time being unplugged from the outside world.

North woods retreat

We loved our visit. If you are looking for a cabin on a quiet lake on the Gunflint trail, this is it. Clear water, loons, and a nice dock. Very serene.

Perfection on Leo Lake

This is the third summer we have stayed at Heartrock Haven — simply heaven on the Gunflint Trail. The dock, the loons, the gliders the comfy bed… absolutely unforgettable. Already locking at the calendar for next year!

A lovely long weekend away

Heartrock Haven was a lovely place to stay. A beautiful spot on lake Leo with good fishing right from the dock! Enjoyed canoeing and kayaking with the provided boats on the low wake lake. Good hiking and food within 10 minutes of the property. Host made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely book again.

Autumn retreat

We love Karla’s place. It’s the 4th time we’ve stayed here. It is a quaint up north retreat with a vintage cabin on a private lake. It comes complete with fishing, kayaks, and a friendly camp fox. If you want to unwind and unplug this is perfection!

Fun cabin on the lake

We loved our stay and wish it could have been longer. The bedrooms are nice, the fireplace room and game room are fun, and the location on the lake with a canoe and kayaks are amazing. In addition, there are outdoor bench swings and benches on the dock. The instructions are spelled out perfectly.

As always, our stay on Leo Lake was amazing! I’ve lost track of how many summers we have stayed in this beautiful spot. Everything one needs. Peaceful. And Karla is a great host. Highest recommendation!

We very much enjoyed our stay. It provides quiet and disconnect in a beautiful part of the world. The lack of cell phone service and internet, and just having a landline for any needed local calls, was restorative (and a blast from the past). The cabin was nice - kitchen, bedrooms, canoes/kayaks, dock - all very functional and helped foster a connection to the place. If you want to disconnect and reconnect, hard to think of a better place to do so.
