Modern Cabin w/ Amazing View + Hot Tub + Record Player
A short 35 minutes from Sunday River or Shawnee Peak!
Twinflower Cabin is a one-of-a-kind, site-specific retreat designed by Whitten Architects and Kris Roller. Crafted with the movement of the sun in mind, it offers a serene escape.
Located near plenty of hiking, skiing/cross country skiing, lakes, and more, this is the perfect place for your next retreat.
This home has been a labor of love, and I’m excited to share it with you.
**4 Wheel Drive REQUIRED Nov 15th-April 15th**
The space
Perfectly oriented towards the west, the home bathes in the soft, golden light of the afternoon, making it an ideal setting for those seeking tranquility.
Every room is framed by unobstructed views of the White Mountains, including the iconic Mount Washington—the tallest peak in the East.
**Note: Roughly from April - May 30th (once the snow melts), the surrounding areas of the home will be only dirt. This is because we have planted over 25 million wildflower seeds on the property and in order for them to grow we have to keep the lot clear of vegetation in the fall. Please expect this if you are arriving during this time frame as it will take a month or so for the meadow to begin to take form**
Location:
Nestled in the charming, historic town of Norway, Maine, this home offers a rare degree of privacy placed on 5 acres of land.
A short drive takes you to both Sunday River and Pleasant Mountain Ski Resorts, where you'll find exceptional skiing, including night skiing. It's also an excellent base for exploring the national parks of Maine and New Hampshire.
There are dozens of hiking trails. Check out the Maine hiking book on our bookshelf or ask us to share our favorites.
10-minute walk from Little Pennesseewassee Lake (Hobbs Pond) which provides great swimming and fishing.
5-minute drive from Pennesseewassee Lake. The larger lake you can rent boats, and visit the beach.
Downtown Norway, with its vibrant selection of shops, restaurants, and bars, is just a 10-minute drive away.
Just minutes away, you'll find the Norway Country Club, where you can enjoy world-class golfing in the summer.
The Space:
Inside, the home has a full kitchen with an oven, stove, full-size fridge, dishwasher, sink and plenty of cookbooks to serve as inspiration. A microwave is tucked in the pantry, and we provide coffee with Nespresso pods for your convenience.
The spacious main room features a modern fireplace and comfortable lounge area, perfect for cozying up with a book or enjoying a game.
Sit back, relax and play a record from our vinyl collection. Pop on a movie on the projector or play a little Nintendo 64 like it's 1997 ;)
The hot tub overlooks the same beautiful view and seats 4-6. You can also enjoy grilling on the flattop cast iron grill.
Last but not least, lay on our outdoor catamaran net and gaze at the beautiful star filled night sky.
Other things to note:
We provide fire starter logs but guest must bring their own firewood. Wood can be purchased at the lake store or various nearby gas stations.
There are no shades in the main room of the house in the back. The property goes back 5 acres so there are no neighbors in the site line of the home.
In the summer due to the large sliding doors and location, there can be bugs from time to time that enter the cabin. We do our very best after each cleaning to ensure they are eliminated. To avoid them as much as possible, keep the doors closed when not using them.
4WD drive is mandatory for this listing in the winter months November 15th - April 15th. We are not liable for any incidents that happen on Jim Hill Dr or Yagger Rd, guests must drive responsibly.
