About this space
Private Country setting on the River!
The space
Located on the Rapidan River in Madison County, near hiking trails, Graves Mt Lodge. Enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking etc. Only 5 minutes to Ruckersville for shopping, dining, antique shops etc. yet quiet and private. Many local Wineries nearby. Charlottesville 20 minutes away. Hiking trails 20-30 minutes away.

Other things to note
If kayaking or canoeing bring your own equipment. Bring your own charcoal for grilling. We have wood for $5. a bundle for the fire. The cabin is a one room with separate full bath, 1 pull out couch bed and 2 bunks. AT&T WiFi Network & TV, Fireplace heater & wall unit AC. The main house is within seeing distance but far enough away that you have privacy. No more than 4 people can stay. Cabin will be unlocked, key is on wall by the door inside, please take with you when you leave if you lock the door. The space is shared with only the guests you bring with you. Enjoy! Pets are case by case. Please ask first.

Pop's Place was just as advertised. Located right on the water makes it a great location to relax and take in nature. Hosts were friendly and great with communications.

The property was wonderful. This was my first tiime experiencing being in a cabin like that and i loved it. It was real nice and cozy. The owners was great and friendly.

This is a little piece of paradise in the Virginia mountains! It is truly a little hideaway for an individual or a family to enjoy the beauty of nature!

We had a very quiet and relaxing time, which is what we were looking for. Our small and small/medium size dogs were very comfortable in their crates and their beds, we grilled out both nights we were there, a Walmart is about 10 minutes away and cell and wifi are just fine. Clean and easy to get to off the road is no problem and the owners are a text away. Thanks for a great few days.

Bonnie and Doug were fantastic hosts. The cabin was clean and a perfect distance from Shenandoah hiking. The location was perfect. The cabin was small, but if traveling alone or with a partner you don’t need more space than that.

Check in was easy. It is a cute but cozy space right on the river. Very close to lots of hiking trails. The pets on the property were very sweet. There is ample kitchenware and cooking equipment but there was no permanent utensils. The fire pit worked well to cook over and had a great view. Would recommend for those interested in a place to crash after hiking in a cabin.

The permanent utensils are in the drawer to the left under the microwave. I’m sorry you missed them.

The property was exactly as advertised and shown in the photos. I really enjoyed myself there and I'm looking forward to going back. It was the peace and quiet I was looking for. Taz (their dog) was awesome, he was very friendly and obedient. He understood the rules if you said no, for food or going into the cabin he stopped. He was great company.

The cabin was clean, adorable, and in a peaceful spot. Unfortunately, it didn't work for our family of three. The main reason is that my 9-year-old broke his femur a little over a month ago after we booked this place. We thought we could make it work going by the pictures but realized when we got there, he could not safely get around the property, and the cabin was too small for a family. I am aware some of these issues are on us but think the pictures were a little deceiving. We did leave after the first night and found a spot that better suited our needs. We let the host know we were leaving and why. She said she was sorry. I asked if we could get any sort of refund and never got a response. I knew it was a long shot to get any sort of refund, but it would've been nice to get some sort of response. Communication up until then had been great.To summarize, it is an adorable cabin on a beautiful property by the water. I think it would be perfect for an individual or a young couple who want a peaceful getaway. Given its small size, I don't think it's suitable for families.

Recovery

I chose to stay at Pop's Cabin due to it's peaceful environment. Except for the dogs, which I loved, I was left on my own. My recovery was quite and uneventful

Sheets seemed dirty, no top sheets, didn't smell clean.The sofa sleeper was AWFUL. The host needs to take a nap on it occasionally to see how bad it is. A/C needs cleaned. Need a longer string on ceiling fan, to turn off light. Melamine plates are not microwave safeWe're 2 older women, so top bunk was not an option. Stayed 1 night, then left. The property outside was beautiful but lack of inside pictures should have been a red flag. We'll have to be more diligent when booking.

The sheets were clean, never will I not change the sheets after guests leave. The ceiling light can be turned off by the wall switch. The photos show all the sleeping arrangements. When something doesn’t seem right please contact me and we will do our best to make it right. No communication isn’t good for us.

The property was everything as described. I loved sitting on the swing on the porch and watching the river flow & all the wildlife. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be back!
