Welcome to this enchanting cabin, nestled on the edge of the Lincoln National Forest, just 4 miles outside of Cloudcroft.
Please note * This is an OFF-GRID cabin. STAIRS are 12 steps up to the bedrooms, with a Composting Toilet type restroom located on the first floor. NO TRAILERS OR RV’s as there is no turn around.
This lovely retreat features 2 cozy bedrooms with 2 queen beds and 1 twin bed, perfect for a peaceful getaway with friends and/or family.
With propane heating or a wood fireplace available, guests can relax in the comfortable living space indoors or enjoy the propane fire pit on the balcony while overlooking the forest. Enjoy your morning coffee while looking for wildlife and birdwatching. *Unplugged/ Off-Grid/ Generator & Battery Power * No phone service, Wi-Fi available * Smart TV * Mountain gravel road (Oct thru Apr: Four Wheel Drive may be required)
* Faucet water is from catch system. Bottled water is provided. * Composting toilet with easy-to-follow instructions. * Freestyle forestry hiking

Cozy Bear was a terrific get-away cabin for activities in the area. The weather was terrific, even with just a touch of rain. The area is beautiful. The cabin offers serenity and the joys of bird watching on the back porch. Terrific for decompressing from life’s daily grind.

We enjoyed our stay in the beautiful mountains of Cloudcroft. The host were gracious and kind. It was our favorite place to stay on our trip. We would definitely stay here again.

Loved how secluded it felt while still being minutes from town. Had everything we were looking. Especially loved listening to all the birds on the balcony in the mornings.

Truly enjoyed staying off-grid! The house was very clean and spacious. Bird watching was a family fun event!! The provided breakfast and snacks were top notch, especially to the kids!

Great place. Don’t let the “off grid” keep you away. You will never know it with all the comforts of home as well as feeling so remote but literally minutes away from town. The back deck was awesome. Hearing an elk bugle was icing on the cake.

Great hosts! Super accommodating. The check in process was easy and explained well. The kitchen had just about everything we needed especially since we were on vacation and looking forward to not cooking. Nice bathroom w/ shower. The beds were very comfortable. The cabin itself was nice and a little rustic; just what we were hoping for. Quiet & set in the woods with a wonderful view of a valley from the back deck. A perfect place to relax, kick back and enjoy the peace & quiet but close enough to Cloudcroft, Ruidoso, Alamogordo and White Sands. Would definitely stay there again.

We have spent countless hours exploring the surrounding natural wonders, marveling at all the different wildlife and enjoying the birdwatching opportunities. The variety of species we've encountered has been astounding, from the vibrant hummingbirds flitting through the wildflowers to the majestic hawks soring overhead.
But perhaps the most unforgettable experience has been the nighttime stargazing. The lack of light pollution reveals a celestial canvas of unparalleled brilliance, transforming the night sky into a breathtaking spectacle. The clear, crisp air enhances the viewing... making every star, constellation, and shooting star feel incredibly close. We truly feel blessed to call Cloudcroft our home, and we love sharing this experience with all who visit.
