Waterfront 3-bedroom w Firepit, Game Room, ~1 mile to Foxwoods, Great Wolf Lodge

Set on 3 acres, our 3-bedroom waterfront house is as close as you can get to Foxwoods Casino and Great Wolf Lodge without actually staying at the resort. It's actually within walking distance (though with the busy road we don't recommend that). AND it's a waterfront house - we have a large pond/small lake in our backyard that is private to our house and the farm next door (2 kayaks + life jackets and paddles available for guest use). AND we have a firepit in the backyard + a finished garage game room with a pool table and a ping pong table (foosball in the living room). AND, it's only about 15 minutes to Mystic! With all that, the house makes a perfect home base for a Connecticut country vacation or a waterfront weekend getaway.

Important: Sheets and towels ARE included with your stay. They are washed before and after every guest, feel free to use the laundry room during your stay as needed as well. We also provide a starter pack of paper towels, toilet paper, toiletries, cleaning products, soaps, detergent, sponges, k cups, and tea! We have a washer and dryer for guest use too!

The property was just as advertised! The kids enjoyed the game room. The fenced-in yard was perfect for our family BBQ. The proximity to the outlet stores was a great bonus!

Such a charming home and peaceful even though it was on a main road. The owner check in with a text to see if there were any needs which was very thoughtful. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again myself.

The house reminded us of our cottage in Cape Cod. Place was clean and comfortable. It was easy to communicate with the host with any questions and they responded quickly. The location was close to the Navy base, Foxwoods, Mystic and many great restaurants. It was also nice to have Dunkin Donuts next door. Also great that the yard was fenced in so you didn’t have to worry about letting your pets out.

This was our first time using VRBO and we had a great experience with this property. The house worked really well for our stay and had everything we needed. We didn’t travel with our pets or family but the fenced-in yard is a huge plus, especially if you’re traveling with pets. There were also games and books available, which will keep the kids entertained. Overall, it’s a great spot for families and we would definitely recommend it.

Clean and cozy, we had a great time here. Fenced in yard was a plus for our 4 year old to run around. Windows upstairs could be updated to reduce road noise but we got by with white noise on the tv

This is NOT a waterfront property. There is a pond behind the property that is covered in pond scum . The yard is all weeds that were obviously whacked back before we got there but many others still grew on. Very very buggy and bugs were in the house too ( moths, flys, ants) . While mattress toppers have been added to beds upstairs, the bedding is horrible ( gray polyester sheets) and the gray towels had stains on them. Left 2 rolls of toilet paper for 2 people for 7 days? Had to buy more. Bathtub drain clogged with softball size mass of hair that we had to clean out to take a proper shower. Layout is strange and steps to upstairs are steep ( beware if steps are an issue. Only mirror in the whole place was in the bathroom. Window air conditioners could hardly keep up. It is convenient to Foxwoods and Mystic. Fenced yard is pet friendly.

This lovely little home in Preston, CT was the perfect getaway for me and my boyfriend! The beds were incredibly comfortable and the house overall was very clean! The game room/shed was an amazing add on for us, and we ended up playing pool in there for hours! Michael and Ashleigh’s VRBO was an amazing stay.My only notes for this house was the cleanliness of the kitchen supplies and the location. First of all, location is obviously no one’s fault! It is just right on the highway, so it’s good to keep in mind that it’s a bit difficult to get to and leave from. The dishes and cooking supplies were a bit dirty, but nothing that was unfixable or ended up changing our overall experience.Thank you so so much to Michael and Ashleigh, who were in contact with us the whole time about check in and check out and making this place a home away from home for my boyfriend and I!!

My Family and I stayed here the first week of August and LOVED it. The location is extremely close to the Tanger Outlets, Foxwoods Casino, Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen, Spellbound Escape Room Adventures and of course the other Foxwoods Resort properties and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and meal at Hell’s Kitchen and we escaped with 12 minutes remaining at the Spellbound Escape Room! The Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino is a short drive away and offers some shopping and dining options as well. We tried Bobby Flay’s Burgers, Hash House A Go Go and Summer Shack. All of which were very good! The Historic town of Mystic, CT is about 20 minutes away. The romantic comedy movie Mystic Pizza with Julia Roberts was filmed here in 1988. YES, we went AND got a SLICE of HEAVEN from the Famous Mystic Pizza. It was AMAZING!! We even took a day trip to Providence, Rhode Island(about an hour away). While there we visited Johnson & Wales University and stopped for a Delicious lunch in Cranston, RI at PIZZA MAMMA, which is owned/operated by The Real Housewives of Rhode Island’s Alicia Carmody and her fiancé Bill Kitsilis. We even checked out the Bally’s Casino in Lincoln, RI on the way back to the house. There was something for everyone to do together or separately during our stay. It was nice to be able to come back after a day out and have a quiet place to ourselves. Thank you so much for hosting us! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this property!!!

I love older houses, this one was charming, clean and pefect for our family. It had a fully fenced back yard for the dog, a pond and wasn't far from anything. A great stay!

Loved our stay! It has a fenced in yard and my dogs loved it. It was clean and cute. It is in the main road so there is traffic noise, this didn’t bother us though because we live on a main busy road so it was fine.

It's an older house, but it's got cute rustic kind of decor. The property itself is great - lots of space for kids and the fenced in area for dogs is great. We would stay again.

The fenced in yard and everything was great for our pets. Communication with the hosts was also excellent! Everything was clean, the A/C window units and ceiling fans did the job of keeping us cool. All the appliances worked, including the washer and dryer in the basement.

We rented this property because it was promoted as a "Waterfront Property". Unfortunately, what was described on Vrbo as a “Waterfront Property”was far from it. What we found was an algae laden green swamp at the rear of the property with very limited access between the trees. Gone was the option of sitting by the water with a cup of coffee. We found the maintenance of the property and the house were very poor: Tall weeds surrounding the property, a breeding haven for ticks. A dangerously shaky hand railing on the side entrance steps. Inoperable, torn window shades in many rooms. Some look as if they were cut from an old shower curtain. Worn out, mushy mattresses in the upstairs bedrooms. There is no bathroom on second level, and, at night, one must go up/down very steep steps to reach the single bathroom downstairs (where the only mirror in the entire house is found). Refrigerator door is missing its handle. An ancient (disgusting) dishwasher.The difference between the photos on Vrbo’s posting and the actual property is very striking and disappointing. When we rented this house, we expected a well-maintained, accurately described property and that’s not what we got. The only positive aspect is a convenient proximity to Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun and Mystic.In view of the disparity between the Vrbo posting and the actual condition of the property, we feel that we should get at least a partial refund.

The quaint, quiet house and yard were perfect for a peaceful long weekend with family. The house feels private despite being on the main road due to beautiful plants and landscaping. The yard was perfect for the family dog. There are ants, spiders, and a mouse but it's a country house. I was very pleased with the house and thought it was a good value based on what we paid.

Comfortable family getaway

Affordable, fun, relaxing house. Indoor and outdoor things to do. Some pretty glass decor in the dining room, so I easily moved a few things to temporarily kid proof it. A/C in bedrooms, ceiling fans in almost every room. The hosts were very responsive and addressed our concerns exceptionally well.

Cute house near Foxwoods

The real draw for us was the proximity to Foxwoods and the fenced in yard for my son to run and play. We were pleased to find the house just as described: a bit rustic but charming and with plenty of space for us to spread out. The hosts were communicative and helpful. We didn’t have time to make use of the kayaks/pond but the kids enjoyed a s’mores night at the fire ring, and were treated to a gorgeous display of fireflies at sundown. The only caveat I would say is that it is a hard place for people with mobility challenges due to bedrooms upstairs and cement steps into the house, and for people who are not used to country living, they might find it a little rustic for their tastes. And as with any place in New England, if you visit in June or July, bring bug spray!

We would stay here again. The fenced yard was a huge plus—especially for our dogs given the nearby roadway—and the pond was lovely; our kid loved the provided kayak. The main living spaces were clean, and when we ran out of a couple basics, the owner was very responsive and got us what we needed quickly. That said, the sleep setup needs attention. The mattresses, pillows, and blankets felt cheap and quite worn, and it wasn’t a pleasant night’s sleep—we even bought new pillows after waking with neck pain. I don’t mean to sound harsh; it’s just our honest experience, and upgrading the bedding would make a big difference. If you’re particular about sleep, consider bringing a mattress topper, your own pillows, and extra blankets. The yard also needs more regular care: the grass was overgrown enough to feel like a tripping hazard, and there was some trash and broken concrete around that should be cleared. We had to use the basement for laundry and, while it isn’t a living space, it was very dirty and not pleasant to be in; a deep clean would help a lot. Finally, the road noise at night is noticeable—coming from a very quiet rural area, we felt it more than some might. With upgraded bedding, tidier grounds, and a cleaned-up laundry area, this could be an easy five-star stay. We genuinely appreciated the dog-friendly fence, pretty setting, and the host’s quick responses.
