5 stars all the way! Very comfortable and well appointed with lots of natural light (good for early risers like myself). I had a couple of questions and the host answered them very promptly. Would definitely stay here again.

Very clean, accommodating stay! Pam and Ian were communicative from the time we booked — clear check in instruction, lots of info on things to in the area, etc. Would definitely recommend!

Best VRBO we have ever stayed in. It was spotless and so welcoming with perfect decor and design. Information about our stay upon arrival (both digital and physical) was extensive and much appreciated. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and hope to return in the future!

We had a wonderful stay in Stillwater. The place is a great spot to explore downtown and enjoy the river. Whispering Walnut was gorgeous and cozy. So many small details that made our stay the best.

This property is amazing! It is very cozy but also spacious and relaxing. Just minutes from all the activities. I would recommend this stay for any of Stillwater’s events.

We had an amazing stay at this Stillwater VRBO during our mini-moon after our wedding. The home was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described in the listing. It felt like the perfect place to relax and unwind while still being close to everything downtown Stillwater has to offer. While there was plenty of street parking available, the two off-street spots made parking especially convenient.The hosts were incredibly kind and quick to respond, which made everything easy from booking through checkout.If you’re looking for a great place to stay in Stillwater, we’d absolutely recommend Whispering Walnut. We’d gladly stay here again!

A Hidden Gem with Heart and HistoryWhispering Walnut exceeded every expectation. Ian and Pam have created something truly special — a beautifully designed carriage house that blends modern comfort with deep, authentic character. The story of the old walnut oak tree living on in the custom-crafted furniture is something you simply don’t find anywhere else.Ian was incredibly welcoming and genuine. You can tell he and Pam put real love into this property and their guests. If you’re looking for a stay that feels personal and memorable — look no further. We’ll absolutely be back.

A stunning, superbly decorated, comfortable and well located rental. We stay in a LOT of vacation rentals and have become so weary of the bare, stark rentals done by up and coming investors.This is NOT a quickly thrown together rental for the purpose of ROI, but a thoughtfully crafted homage to the neighborhood and charming community in which it is situated. It is cozily and purposefully appointed with high end finishes. The color scheme shows talent! It is warm and inviting. The kitchen is well equipped, the towels are oversized, bed linens, appliances and furnishings are high end. Off the street parking is smack at the bottom of the stairs. It’s very close to the city stairs down to the riverfront. Just absolutely charming. I highly recommend.

The Whispering Walnut was beautiful and perfect! Pam and Ian went above and beyond with every thoughtful detail to make this stay just right! The location was perfect for exploring Stillwater - downtown was just a couple of blocks and down the overlook stairs. It was nice to walk into town and then be able to leave the busy streets for a quiet place to sleep!

Wonderful place, so warm and welcoming. It’s just as beautiful in person as in the pictures. Loved the story of the old walnut tree and to find it incorporated into the rental in so many ways. This location is great, as it’s close to downtown historic Stillwater but also a short drive to Willow Falls State park which we really enjoyed. We will definitely be back!!

Our hosts Pam & Ian were very welcoming. They responded to our questions/needs immediately. The home is gorgeous and very smartly decorated/furnished. My only downside were the stairs to get down to the driveway....steep but manageable for a 68 year-old lady who has a bit of paranoia about heights :) Won't stop us from going back!

Our stay at Whispering Walnut was absolutely lovely! The home is spotless, beautifully decorated, and filled with thoughtful touches that made it feel extra special. The setting is peaceful and quiet — just the right mix of cozy and refreshing. We especially loved the location: close to an iconic overlook enabling a beautiful view of the town. This location provides access to an extremely long stairway that took us right into the heart of all activity. Lots of great shops, restaurants and bar by the river. Highly recommend Whispering Walnut for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

This is a well thought out apartment. It was spotlessly clean, well-furnished, and the bed was very comfortable. My wife and I enjoyed our time there. I did have to give the description only three stars instead of five. The claim regarding the properties proximity to downtown was a major factor in our choice but it's a tad misleading. "Steps to downtown" turned out to be 152 steps on a fairly steep stairway from the top of the bluff to downtown. We did end up driving most of the time, but parking is plentiful (at least this time of year) so it wasn't a major issue for us. Just a word of warning to those who might have some mobility issues.
