Emberwood is located on a well-maintained gravel mountain road with some steep elevation changes. In snow or heavy rain, we recommend a vehicle with all-wheel or four-wheel drive. While most guests arrive without issue, a capable vehicle ensures a smoother arrival — especially if you're arriving during inclement weather.
You will have exclusive access to the entire house and all outdoor amenities! The chalet is accessed via a winding gravel driveway and we have parking for up to 4 vehicles.
There is a locked owner’s closet located under the stairs. Please do not try to access it during your stay.

There are several ways to get to Emberwood from Route 7. We recommend taking River Road or Blueridge Mountain Road. On rare occasions after heavy rains, River Road may be closed. If you take Blueridge Mountain Road, turn right onto Morgan's Mill Road and continue past Ebenezer on the right to the Ashby Run entrance on the left (do not follow GPS directions for the first turn onto Horseshoe Lane, as this is a steep unimproved gravel road).
Our luxury mountain chalet was meticulously renovated inside and out in 2024, and underwent a full design transformation in 2025. Emberwood is perched atop 6 wooded acres in a quiet forested neighborhood with many full-time residents. Please be mindful of your noise levels and respect quiet hours from 10pm-8am.
A Note about Nature:
Emberwood is located in a natural, wooded setting. While we routinely use professional pest control services to keep tiny critters out, occasional sightings of insects is possible. The chalet is sealed and well-maintained, but we always recommend keeping doors closed and food stored properly. If you're comfortable being surrounded by nature, you're in the right place. It’s all part of the natural authenticity of a true mountain retreat!
The Ember Ritual: Spa Amenities & Etiquette
Emberwood was designed as a space for deep rest and slow ritual. Our outdoor wellness amenities are here to support that - please use them mindfully.
Sauna: Limit sessions to 15–20 minutes, and always hydrate before and after. Use the striped spa towels provided to sit on the benches, and please avoid bringing any oils, lotions, or glass inside. Detailed instructions for use are located in the guidebook.
Hot tub & Cold plunge: Rinse before entering, and please don’t add any products to the water. Please refrain from using glass in these amenities. Detailed instructions for use are located in the guidebook.
Additional guidelines for your safety and enjoyment are posted above the hot tub.
Stargazing dome: Feel free to bring a beverage or outdoor blanket/throw, but we ask that you leave spa waterwear and wet towels outside, and leave white bed linens for the indoor sleeping spaces.
To ensure a dry and bug-free experience, please be sure to properly close the window and door panels after use.
Zen Den: The Zen Den is a cozy space equipped for movement and mindfulness. Inside you'll find yoga mats and blocks, resistance bands, medicine balls, free weights, a stationary bike, and a selection of essential oils. We’ve provided a portable remote-controlled air conditioner to maintain a comfortable temperature when utilizing the Zen Den during warmer months. Double doors open to a 16 x 12' deck beneath a canopy of trees — perfect for open-air yoga, stretching, or morning meditation.
Top-Tier Sanitation
Rest assured, these amenities are cleaned and maintained between each stay so every guest begins with a fresh start. Inside the chalet, every piece of bedding and linens undergoes meticulous sanitation between each group of guests. Please also note also that this property prohibits smoking and pets. Your well-being is our top priority.
While we warmly welcome families, our home is not childproofed for toddlers and small children. The home contains glass decor, breakables, and stairs. We encourage parents to keep a watchful eye on little ones, especially around indoor and outdoor stairs and rocky terrain.
To enhance security, this property is equipped with exterior surveillance cameras, solely monitoring outdoor parking areas and property entrance without invading your privacy. Choose us for a worry-free and exceptional experience in Bluemont, VA!
