Cozy Cottage - Minutes from Attractions!

Welcome to The Tarwater House! This cozy little cottage was built in 1946 by my grandparents and totally remodeled in 2013. It boasts lots of character and amenities for your convenience. Master bedroom has a king bed, second bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom has two twin beds. All of the bedrooms are equipped with smaller TV’s and DVD players. The Living room is equipped with a Smart HDTV and wireless internet is provided for your stay. All TV's have ROKU's and we have Spectrum Apps - please click on the Spectrum App to stream cable TV. If you would like to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. login to your account, but make sure to logout before your departure.
The kitchen is fully equipped - stainless steel appliances, all dishes, cookware, crockpot, etc., are provided. An outdoor charcoal grill is also provided for your use. We have a large field that you are welcome to use for croquet, volleyball, bean bag toss, horse shoes, etc. There is an outdoor firepit with Adirondack chairs and you are welcome to to enjoy the Wicker deck furniture as well! This little cottage has everything you need and much, much more. Minutes from attractions and The Great Smoky Mountains.

Ringing in the New Year

We had such a pleasant experience staying at the cottage! The location couldn’t have been any better plus we were only minutes away from literally everything! We wanted somewhere that wasn’t high in the mountains or have to travel up steep hills during the stay and we got exactly what we wanted. Would definitely stay again. Loved the history/picture wall with the families generations and story binder!

What a gem

I had such an amazing time with my family here. The house and the property, plus the location was perfect. There was so much room for outside family activities and it's in a safe location. The house was decorated for us which was so thoughtful! I would stay here again and highly recommend! 10/10! Thanks for letting us stay!!

Cute Cottage Home

This is the 2nd time we have stayed with this host at this charming little cottage. We love the location. Close enough to everything and away from the hustle. Home has all that you need. Porch is wonderful. We are looking at dates again for next year. You will not regret this stay....price is wonderful.

Wonderful girls trip!

The property and house were wonderful!! It was super cute inside (pics don't do it justice) and had everything we could have needed. We kept ourselves so busy with all the tourist stuff so didn't get to enjoy all the house and property had to offer but if we did it again, we'd stay another day to do a fire and enjoy the deck and peacefulness! Would definitely recommend if you are staying in the area!

Excellent In Every Way

My grandson and I loved our stay here! It is located in a quiet area that is both very easy to find and close to activities and attractions! The property is sparkling clean and well stocked. The beds and furnishings were very comfortable and the whole place is just warm and welcoming. The property manager was very prompt in answering questions. Check in and out was easy peasy. Will definitely return whenever in the area.

So relaxing!

We were here for a girls trip and it was so relaxing. This house had space for everyone and the host was amazing! We loved reading the story about the house too! Early in the morning you might even see some small wildlife eating in the backyard. We had an amazing time and this is definitely a place to come back to!

Pictures dont do this place justice. We were very pleased with our stay and will be rebooking in the future. We were unable to make it on our first day and the owner reached out to check on us to make sure everything was ok. Overall great experience

Wonderful stay for a family!

My family had a wonderful stay here. It is so close to everything you would want to do nearby. The location is absolutely beautiful. I knew from the pictures it was lovely, but I didn't expect the rolling hill and bunnies and groundhogs! We are a family of 5 and we stayed quite comfortably and even had nearby in-laws over for dinner. There was room for everyone. The beds and the sofa are extremely comfortable, so we all slept and lounged very well. Be aware though, that there is only one entrance for the two adjoining non-master bedrooms. It worked out fine for us because our kids stayed in them, but if you are staying with all adults, just make sure people are aware ahead of time, or for anyone who may have privacy issues. Other than that, we had an absolutely delightful stay and would definitely go back!

Quiet and Cozy Mountain Stay!

The location of this house is perfect for visiting Knoxville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg! We loved being tucked away in a quiet little neighborhood. The house was clean and very comfortable. We appreciated the nicely paved parking space that easily fit our midsize SUV with more than enough room. I had excellent communication with the owner when I became concerned with a bad storm blowing through the area. The living room furniture was very comfortable and large enough to accommodate my family. The beds are soft with plenty of blankets to keep you cozy. I will mention that the bed in the Queen room is a bit high from the ground if that is an issue for you. It was great having a full washer and dryer during our stay. We loved the large wrap around porch with nice outdoor furniture. We plan to come back to this cozy house many times on our future adventures!

Best Cottage Ever!!!

I want to start by saying Thank You Leah!! We've been going to the Smoky Mtns for several years and this was by far the best cabin we've ever rented. We will rent this one from now on. We didn't want for anything at all. If we needed something, it was there. We were inspired by your photo memory wall and bought lots of photo frames while there so we can make one at our homes. We looked at the pictures of your family daily and had conversations. We just loved this. We even looked through the old cookbooks and loved the kitchen prayer. We read your memoir and the history of your grandparents home was truly a blessing to us. Brought back memories of us being at our grandparents as little girls. We also made special memories there this week. We enjoyed our whole vacation but we really enjoyed this peaceful cottage. It was so relaxing there. We will definitely be coming back to your place from now on. It's very cute, very clean (immaculate) and convenient location. Customer Service was the best and communication and check in was a breeze. Thank you Leah for such a great home away from home. Thank you for your kindness and again the Photo memory wall was AWESOME! I just can't say enough about this place! We absolutely loved and enjoyed our stay. This is our second time at Tarwater Cottage and we absolutely love it!! We stayed in the hottest part of summer last time and this was a nice, cool spot, even in the heat of the day. It has all the amenities you need. The entry is easy. The contact with the host is easy. It’s super clean and the beds are comfy. The porch is an amazing place to hangout in the morning and evening. There are birds, rabbits and squirrels to watch. The proximity to Sevierville is so nice but you’re not trapped in all the traffic just to get to it. There are plenty of TVs for the whole group. It’s so peaceful and after a long day of traveling around, it’s incredibly relaxing. HIGHLY recommend!

Wonderful Cottage for an amazing visit to TN!

Our family of 5 just loved this little cottage. Beds for everyone and it had everything we could ever need. The owner was amazing to work with and even helped us manage a small issue that came up after check-in. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!

This cottage was built in 1946 by my Grandparents - Estle & Velma Tarwater. My grandmother's family lived in Elkmont & Tremont before The Great Smoky Mountain National Park was established. My mother and her sister grew up in this house. Although both have moved away from Sevierville they decided to keep the homeplace for the family - a home away from home. We hope you enjoy your stay!!
