New in our program, this home has many great reviews from past guests.

NEW FOR 2026: A new washer, dryer, fridge, tile floors in the dining room and kitchen, and a completely renovated top-floor bathroom!!!

Sound FX is a four-bedroom, three-bath, sound-front home in Avon. The private dock and two-tier deck help to highlight the best sunset views while enjoying the soothing small splash sounds that come from the waters just below. The first floor is home to the kitchen, a study, a double-sized bedroom, a living room with a large flatscreen TV, and a dining room. With plenty of windows inside and out, you will never feel too far from the water. Upstairs you will find the remaining bedrooms that include a primary king-sized bedroom suite with a small lounging space and private TV, a separate large king-sized bedroom, and a third queen-sized bedroom. Enjoy outdoor dining on the deck or practice any number of watersports on the sound. Whether you're here for kayaking, standup paddleboarding, or kitesurfing, or you just want to drop a line and go fishing, there is something for everyone at Sound FX.

Please Note: As a barrier island, Hatteras is constantly changing. Beach conditions, dunes, and access points may vary due to erosion, restoration projects, weather, and other environmental factors.


Things to Know
Guests have access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility.
The club is typically open from mid-May to mid-October, depending on the weather.

Best house and location in the Outer Banks!

The house is spectacular inside for families and for location. It was more than what we expected and we truly wish we could’ve stayed two weeks. We can’t wait to go back and enjoy the best view in the whole island and the peaceful serenity it brings as well. Please book because you will not be disappointed.

Great house,

House was as advertised. Kitchen was well stocked, comfortable beds and was very clean at check in. We really enjoyed the view from the deck and pier. Sunsets were unreal

fantastic spot on the sound

The views from house, especially at sunset, are spectacular. The master bedroom is enormous. The location is quiet, and very convenient for wind and water sports. The house was clean and everything was in good working order :)

Wonderful / Quiet / Cozy

My family loved the location, quietness and features the property has to offer. Short walk to the beach; Bring your kayaks right to the property!! The Vacasa team had the prepped the property so well. Smooth Check-in and Check-out.

Great week in Avon, NC

Location away from the main road makes for a quiet place. Being on the water is ideal for using kayaks or SUPs, the inlets are somewhat protected. Easy walk to the beach via public path between houses on ocean side.

Wanna relax? Look no further..

Booked a last minute early September getaway and this house didn’t disappoint!! The view was priceless! Quiet cul de sac and the house was clean and comfortable. We are looking to come back very soon!

Great house for 3 or 4 adults and some kiddos!

The house was spotless at checkin. The view of- and access to the Pamlico Sound is amazing. Kitchen has everything you need. Plenty of bathrooms and some space to relax. Probably not best pick for 6-8 larger adults.

Nice view

This house has a fantastic sound view. Wonderful sunsets and a variety of birds to watch. Perfect for fishing, kayaking or wind sports. The house isn’t plush but has everything you need. On a bad weather day, sit in the sunroom and watch the storm roll across the sound.

Wonderful

We loved the house. It was perfect for what we were looking for, which was a quiet getaway,and since we visited in late December, that is exactly what we got. People in the area are friendly. I really appreciate how the owner provided things that we might not would have thought about, such a trash bags and dishwashing detergent. I also really appreciate how we got a call back almost immediately when we were struggling with how to lock the doors. I would definitely recommend this rental.

The View

Sound FX is located on a large lot that is a point sticking out into the sound. A canal on each side means you have 180 degree view over water. Watch, or participate, in wind sports, kayak, or fish off the dock. The sunsets are awesome.

Sound FX - The good and the not-so-good

Loved the location, but the house could use upgrades. Bed linens were missing, found the next day in the dryer STILL WET.

Room for improvement

The house could use some upgrading. It did not have many supplies like trash bags, dish soap, or enough bath towels. Found hair in one bed and bathroom. I reached out concerning the issues and they were quick to resolve them. On a good note, it had comfortable beds and couch. The view was incredible.

Nice location but house needs work

Location is perfect for sunset and watersports but this house need a lot of grease elbow and new furniture. The dining chair are awfully unconfortable. All exterior chairs are half destroyed. The house layout is not good for gathering 8 persons. 1 bedroom door is missing…what an intimacy!

Loves the location. Beds were very comfortable. The outside lights side not work which was very dangerous. I side lighting was very bad.Door did not lock. No instructions on how to use TV. Need a fish cleaning station.

Gross, dirty house! And poor response!

5 stars for location only, NO stars for cleanliness. We arrived at 7:45 pm on Saturday 8/27. Location was beautiful, but the house smelled musty and it was DIRTY! I sent a text to the Vacasa Guest Experience Department stating that all of the carpets were covered in lint, hair and even tooth floss in one bedroom! None of the floors were washed and the kitchen floor was sticky and dirty. One nightstand was greasy and had hair on it and another was sticky. The brown comforter in my son’s room had unmistakable body secretions on it and the sheets were dirty with crumbs and makeup. The other comforters were generally dirty. One of the beds only had pillows with dirty shams—no clean pillowcases. Vacasa asked for pictures, which I promptly sent. They asked if we would like them to send the local maintenance team out to take a look and “help in the cleaning.” I said Yes and was told that they would be out tomorrow. They arrived about 12:30 pm on Sunday 8/28. They changed the sheets and took the dirty comforters but left no clean ones or even a blanket. The team was leaving and I asked about the carpets and floors. They said they were done and called their supervisor and gave me the phone. She told me that they don’t do a “deep clean” every time, which I did not expect—just clean. The team came back in and vacuumed the carpet on the walkways and “dusted” the kitchen floor and left it sticky. A while later, 2 people came to bring the pillowcases and blankets and I asked about the floor and they just shrugged. I asked if they at least had a mop that I could use to do it myself, which they showed me and left. The bathrooms were gross with soap scum and mildew so I bought cleaning supplies and cleaned them myself! I have pictures of EVERYTHING!!!
