THE ASTER ON QUEEN ANNE
They don’t make ‘em like they used to! Pamper yourself in historic Seattle charm. Conveniently located on the top of Queen Anne hill, five minutes from the Space Needle and a one block walk to the Avenue. The Aster on Queen Anne is your preferred home base in Seattle.
Two grand brick pillars greet you as you walk up to the property and pass through the gate into this peaceful urban retreat. Take a moment to relax on the oversized covered front porch and gaze out beyond the manicured garden, as an occasional family pushing a stroller walks by, along the tree-lined sidewalk.
You enter the massive grand room with 10’ ceilings, a beautiful fireplace, framed in art tile, a commanding mantel and custom woodwork. Take in the space, almost large enough to be a ballroom, with a majestic staircase beckoning you to further explore.
But first, make your way across the hardwood floors to the two craftsman pillars that frame the entrance to the spacious dining room, complete with gorgeous antique stained glass above a built-in hand-crafted sideboard, perfect for preparing a spread for your family and friends. Sun streams in through the huge southern bay windows and reflects off the boxed beam ceilings. Hidden behind the doors of the sideboard is a bountiful collection of glasses, plates and additional serving ware for your convenience.
Turning to the right, you enter the freshly renovated modern kitchen with gas cooking and stainless-steel appliances. Note the round wooden blocks in the floor for activating the secret pocket door. A cozy eating nook is perfect for an intimate late-night snack or breakfast with just your partner or kids.
Turn again to the right and exit the kitchen, first passing the servants’ staircase and a doorway leading to the powder room and lower-level laundry room. Then return to the grand room. To your left, is a spacious yet cozy parlor, with new 55” Roku television, ready for you to log in to your Netflix, Prime, or gaming accounts. A comfortable sectional is ready for you to recline and catch your favorite movie or show. If it gets too late, just fall asleep right there with your partner on the double pull-out. Ready to unplug for some family connection? Switch off the screens and choose one of the many board games or puzzles tucked away in the TV cabinet.
When you’re ready to head up to the second floor, gaze up at the antique light fixtures built into the craftsman architecture between the parlor and grand staircase. As you head up the stairs, note the artwork hung in the 18-foot-tall space above.
At the top of the stairs, you will find a large landing with a built-in craftsman cupboard and drawers, stocked with fresh soft towels and extra linens.
On the second floor, you will find four oversized bedrooms and an exquisitely renovated hand-tiled bathroom. The two master bedrooms are extremely spacious.
The Floral Room is furnished with two new full-sized beds and a private TV. Facing east, this room is drenched in morning sunshine. Across the hallway, the Tuscan Room, featuring a luxurious new king-sized bed and private seating area, is perfect when the two of you want to step away from the rest of your clan. The Sun Room features another full-sized bed and six large west-facing windows, providing loads of afternoon sunshine and views of the Olympic mountains, peaking above Seattle’s rooftops. Facing south, the Pink Room beckons you to relax in the all-day sunshine and new Queen-sized bed. These four bedrooms are served by a spectacular renovated bathroom, complete with walk-in wet shower and bathing area, finished with lovely tile work.
When you head back down to the kitchen, try taking the servants’ stairs. Imagine maids, 100 years ago, carrying trays of tea and crumpets to their employers. Once there, head through the coat room to the back porch. Perfectly equipped for lunch or coffee with friends, enjoy watching your kids play in the fully fenced grassy yard, featuring a cute as a button playhouse. Sometimes (rarely) you might be greeted by our friendly neighbors passing through the backyard on their way to the carriage house or separate basement apartment.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD & DINING – WALKSCORE 96
With a Walkscore of 96, the Aster on Queen Anne is a WALKERS PARADISE.
When you’re ready to further explore the “Ave” - the term we affectionately call Queen Anne Avenue – walk just one block and you’re right at the center of the action: The corner of Queen Anne Avenue North and Boston. At this intersection you’ll find: Grappa Mediterranean, Salt and Straw (frozen treats), Café Hagen and Starbucks! If you’re a gaming buff, check out Blue Highway Games.
For meals, the Ave is packed with a plethora of restaurants, ranging from Orrapin Thai, to Ikiki Sushi, Zeeks Pizza and the health-focused americana Bounty Kitchen. The Hilltop pub features live jazz and blues on the weekends, and Salt and Straw offers sophisticated delectable frozen treats. If you enjoy gourmet cooking and need some supplies, a brand-new Safeway complex is only ½ block away. For fine wine and Swiss cheese, skip over to Trader Joes. Afterwards, stop in for custom frozen yoghurt treats at Menchies. Of course, you’re in the coffee capital of the world, so don’t limit yourself. Try out locally owned Café Ladro. And if you just want to stay at home and enjoy the Aster on Queen Anne, there are endless meal delivery service options!
RECREATION & SPA
For bigger kids needing more space, stroll over to one of the two nearby parks – Big or Little Howe, only five blocks away. Shoot some hoops, kick the soccer ball, or toss the frisbee. Both parks have extensive play structures and ball fields. There’s also a community swimming pool, available for family time or lap swimming, and even a wading pool in the summer. Pickle ball or tennis anyone? It’s only a 15-minute walk to Queen Anne’s unique Water Tower Courts.
While the kids play, treat yourself to a manicure at Pro Nails, or one of the other amazing five spa and nail salons along the Queen Anne Avenue! Don’t miss the Farmers Market on Thursday afternoons. It’s only a five-minute walk from the Aster on Queen Anne.
IDEAL LOCATION FOR EVERYTHING IN SEATTLE
You could spend a whole week just exploring Queen Anne, but when you’re ready to venture further, multiple buses stop within ½ a block of the Aster on Queen Anne, heading down to the Seattle Center (10 minutes) where you’ll find the Space Needle, Kraken’s Climate Pledge Arena, Pacific NW Ballet, Opera, MoPop Museum, and the Gates Foundation. Seattle cruise ship Terminal 91 is also only 10 minutes. Five more minutes and you’re at Amazon Spheres, the Pike Place Market and the Port of Seattle Cruise terminal. Another five and you’re at the Seahawk’s Lumen Field and the Mariner’s T-Mobile park. While you’re down on that end of town, check out Pioneer Square, the Underground Doughnut Tour.
PARKING
No car is required for getting around. But if you want a car, it’s no problem. Parking is free on the street. Since we are only one block off the Ave, you might not always be able to park immediately out front. But it’s rarely more than 150’ to find a good spot, and no permit is required. Virtually unlimited free short-term parking is available beneath the brand-new Safeway complex, ½ block away.
The Aster on Queen Anne. The best location for experiencing Seattle. There’s no other home quite like it. With the capacity to sleep 12 comfortably, this is the perfect home away for home for your family and friends.

Acerca del anfitrión
Anfitrión: Amanda Van Dyck
My husband and I purchased this home 16 years ago, raised two kids here and then completely renovated it, right from the foundation on up. There is no more convenient and comfortable location from which to explore Seattle. We love meeting people from all over the world and sharing our local knowledge about the Seattle area.
