Property was in a great location. Close to the glacier, airport and grocery stores. Easily accommodated our group aging from 7-70. Beds were comfortable with plenty of blankets. So many fun things to do in Juneau we would love to come back.

House is huge. Very comfortable. Place is clean and centrally located for us - 15min to the boat dock and 15min into town. Kitchen over stocked with dishes but could use a few more chef knives. Sadly no shampoo, conditioner, or soap is provided but plenty of towels and wash clothes. We also ran out of bathroom tissue and bought our own. Take dishwasher tabs and laundry tabs if you are planning on using them.

Spacious and comfortable for four couples. We could easily isolate and gather as needed. We did not receive entry instructions, but with host located across the street they gave us the door access code soon after we arrived. The host, Paula, told us she would return with toilet paper and paper towels. Alas, she did not. We knocked on her door and texted, but got no response. We ended up buying our own, as well as soap and shampoo. Ground floor kitchen’s refrigerator’s water and ice maker were inoperable. Some minor repairs are warranted:missing kitchen countertops tiles, bedroom and bathroom doors don’t close easily and some of the exterior doors have significant air gaps. These are all minor fixes to what appears to be a former board & care home on a good neighborhood.

Home away from home

The place was just as it was advertised. Eight roomy bedrooms with all amenities. The owner Rena greeted us with a big smile and personally gave our group a tour of the house. We enjoyed staying at this home very much.

The house is a large two story home with two full kitchens, one on each level, with enough beds to accommodate 14-15 people. Our group of eight had more than enough room to be comfortable. All four bathrooms had handicapped accessible showers. Families with little ones might find it a challenge to bathe them without a tub. There are two balconies on the upper level, with patio furniture to relax on and a smaller back yard on the lower level for relaxing or for kids to enjoy the outdoors. One of the maintenance staff lives across the street and when we couldn’t find some items, ie garbage bags, laundry soap and dish towels, we were able to reach out and were provided garbage bags. However, we did have to buy laundry soap, dish towels and sponges. We also purchased extra toilet paper late in our stay since we could not find any at the house. There is a huge variety of plates and cups on both levels. There are dishwashers on both levels. If you’re not interested in doing a lot dishes, plan on purchasing your own paper plates, disposable cups, plastic wear and napkins. Our group was in Juneau for a family member’s wedding. We needed to touch up wedding attire. We found an ironing board but could not find an iron. Fortunately, local family had one. For groups with individuals who have mobility challenges, keep in mind there are steps getting into the home and to the upper level; as few as 3 and a large staircase to the upper level.

Perfect for our needs

We needed a large home for our large family and this home filled our needs perfectly. Our hostess was very kind and helpful in spite of having suffered a family loss. The view from the second floor back balcony is impressive. The home is just 5 minutes from the Mendenhal glacier and we took advantage of this. We had an epic trip to Juneau and this house was a big part of it for us.

Mission Trip In Juneau

The host was gracious, friendly, helpful, and communicated great with us! The house was the perfect setup and location for our mission team. The bedrooms were all nice sized, the living areas were spacious with lots of comfortable furniture. The kitchen's were large and well stocked with everything we needed just like home. There was more than enough dishes and we prepared and ate almost all of our meals during the week at the VRBO. We could not have been more pleased and if we return back to Juneau next year we certainly hope we can stay there again!

This is a wonderful home. We LOVED working with the owner! She was so kind and thoughtful, made everything easy.The house is huge! We planned to have a very big party, but some of us weren't able to make the trip so we really rattled around in this huge home.The house was very clean and comfortable. We found the location to be ideal. We had family members arriving and departing throughout our stay so the home's proximity to the airport was ideal. Paula's home is very close to the Mendenhall Glacier which was everyone's #1 attraction - another plus. We found that driving into Juneau convenient, so all in all, the location really worked for us. Finally, we loved the neighborhood, very quiet - family oriented. 5 stars for location.Huge thank you to Paula for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home - Thank you!!!

Close of adventure

The location is great for hiking, fishing, whale watching, and going to Mendenhall Glacier. It’s about an 18-20 minute drive from downtown Juneau, but 4 minutes from the airport. The neighborhood is nice and quiet. The host met us at the house which was unexpected, but nice. The yard needed to be mowed, and at first it was not our top property. However, it didn’t get mowed until the evening before we left town 7 days later. We did our best to use the patio furniture while in the yard. The inside of the house didn’t fully reflect the photos. We were expecting to see all that was in the photos, but there are some home changes. They are: not as bright in the lower level as expected, The floors looked clean but our socks and feet looked black after being barefoot on them, not all the bedrooms looked like the pictures, but close. The exercise room/laundry room was not what we were expecting, no exercise equipment (one was outside) and there were beds in there as well (overflow). The smell from the outside propane tank filtered into to laundry room so I would say it’s not the best place for people to sleep. The host was lovely, and the house has a lot of the day to day needs. We were a nice size group, we all had our own rooms and it is a good place to stay with a large family or friend group. Our trip was adventurous and fun!

Excellent! As Always!

This was our 4th year staying in this home. It is perfect for our athletes and coaching staff! Located close to the competition facility, as well as shopping, restaurants, etc. The Hosts are wonderful, accessible, and conscientious. We love it here!

We had the best time visiting Juneau. Rena's property on Aspen Avenue was amazing and had everything we needed and more. The owner was fabulous and very friendly. We had one issue that. we needed to contact her about and it was taken care of the same day.

If our future travels take us. back to Juneau this will be a. must stay place. again.

Excellent House for Large Groups!

We have stayed in a few houses in the Juneau area each year, but this home is the one that best accommodates our youth sports team! 7 large bedrooms, 4 large bathrooms, 2 full-size kitchens! The home is well-supplied with everything we need with plenty of space for our group, which is why we have stayed here for the past several years. The furnishings are up-to-date and comfortable, the beds have wonderful mattresses (which is noteworthy!). The house is spotlessly clean, inviting and "homey." The owners are very easy to work with. Because we are so involved with youth across the state, we appreciate that a portion of the lodging fees go to a children's charity.

Great base for the family on our Alaskan Adventure

Being a family of 11 (6 adults and 5 boys) it is not easy to find somewhere that will accommodate everyone but this home did. The 2 stories with basically 4 suites ( 3 suites are double bedrooms with a bathroom between that worked amazingly for our families! Our hosts lived across the street and were always available if ever needed... but the house with 2 kitchens/living rooms {one on each floor} allowed space for everyone to have their private time or together time anytime we needed. Juneau does not disappoint with so many adventures available and we truly felt we were able to come home each day and relax. Thank you!

Perfect Getaway

Perfect property for a large group. We had nine and had more than enough room. Both floors have a full kitchen. Property manager was wonderful & even made sure the kids had Easter treats. The location to everything you need and want to do is perfect to the home's location. Proceeds from your stay also help to benefit children in the Philippines. A must stay when you are in Juneau.

Family Gathering

The property owners are very lovely and accommodating. They were more than helpful when we had a trash removal issue and they quickly jumped in to assist. These hosts went above and beyond our expectations! Thank you for making our family gathering a beautiful success....

Christmas 2020

After taking all precautionary measures our family of 19 gathered safely from the lower 48 and locally for a most wonderful time. The accommodations made all the difference in being able to share life long memories and our hosts made the arrangements flawless. We arrived to a decorated house that made it our home away from home.

Excellent for large group or family

This property was excellent for our family. Everyone had their own section of house with two bedrooms and a bath. Did not even need the second kitchen. Owners are amazing people!

Great space!

We had 7 families (13 adults & 7 kids) staying at this house for a week and never felt like we were living on top of each other. Additionally, we hosted a dinner for 2 high school basketball teams with upwards of 40 people in the house at the same time and still didn’t feel crowded. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and we had everything we needed to cook meals during our stay. Rena was very attentive and checked in with us throughout the week. My only suggestion is for the owners to intall a keyless entry. With our group size and different schedules, it was difficult to coordinate who should hold the house key. We will definitely stay here again if the need for Juneau travel with a large group is necessary.

Spacious, well-equipped home, perfect for large family gatherings.

We rented this spacious seven bedroom home to share with extended family while we were in Juneau for our daughter's wedding. With two well-equipped full kitchens (one on each floor), it had the perfect set-up for cooking and serving meals for 25. The open floor plan with ample seating allowed everyone to gather, eat, play games, and converse together in the same inviting space. It was wonderful to have four full bathrooms for our large group, especially on the day of the wedding. The homeowners, the Sims family, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, including supplying new hairdryers, keeping the driveway clear of snow, and allowing us extra time to check out when we were in a schedule crunch trying to get people to the airport. There were plenty of extra linens, towels, and blankets at the ready, and the whole space was clean and organized when we arrived. We could not be happier with our experience at this home in Mendenhaven. Truly, this was a great home in a convenient location with caring and responsive homeowners. If you are planning a large family gathering, you would enjoy staying in this inviting home.
