Disappointing Stay
In a nutshell, the home was not what was pictured on VRBO. We chose the home from the prior 5 star reviews and it was not the case at all. The carpets were stained from prior pets. The two biggest problems we had with this home was when we first arrived we discovered the refrigerator was not working. We had purchased food and had to purchase a cooler and ice daily. It took 19 days for the refrigerator to be repaired. During that time we had family and friends visiting. It was a very stressful 19 days. We rented the home for 34 days so that was a daily concern as to whether or not the repair tech would be out on the day we were told. The air conditioning also had problems in that it did not cool the house adequately. We had to have the air conditioning company come out and they had to repair one of the units. The landlord wanted us to keep the air at 78 degrees because it was an older unit and she also did not want a high electric bill. However, that was not possible because the master bedroom was over 80 degrees at the end of the day and it was difficult to get the temperature down. The thermostat was preset to not turn on until the house reached 68 degrees. That was not possible as we were in the desert.
Because of these issues, we had to file a claim with VRBO and then escalate the claim because it was taking too long for the necessary repairs. We have rented homes for years and have a 5 star rating and never had any issues like the one we had with this last trip.
