Drakes Island Road cottage with pool, 1 mile to beach

This lovely cottage is comfortable, clean, and well supplied. The layout includes two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two single beds. There is a kitchen, bathroom with a tub, living room with a sleeper sofa, and a screened-in porch. Ideal for up to four people. The cottage has WiFi, cable TV, heat and A/C.

Large solar-heated saltwater pool (open mid-June through mid-September) and laundry on site. A picnic table and charcoal grill are provided. Cottage in the Lane is a quiet complex of 10 cottages along a nature reserve, just under 1 mile from Drakes Island Beach.

Drakes Island

Everything was lovely. The only drawback was the mosquitos ( which is no fault of anyone, and they do spray). Location is fantastic for quiet, easy access to beaches, restaurants, trails. Property management is very responsive and the facilities are clean and conducive to settling in comfortably.

Cozy cottage

My friend an I spent two nights here for a weekend get away. We are planning our next trip to the cottages with our husbands next year. Susan was terrific!

Quiet and relaxing

We’ve stayed here many times before. It is always clean and consistent. The owners are very friendly and eager to please. The grounds are nice and the island quaint. Highly recommended!

Only thing could have been a bidder dining table and better wifi. Great location, great accomodation, only bad thing that week,there was a lot of mosquito on the site but not at the beach or city

Summer vacation the way it should be

We had a lovely week at Cottage In The Lane, staying in a cute two bedroom cottage with our boys - ages 3 and 8. It had everything we needed for our stay and we could comfortably prepare and eat meals together. The grounds are kept in immaculate condition and it's really peaceful. It's also very nice that there are only 10 cottages on the property (instead of many more squeezed in tightly). I was able to go for nice morning runs to the beach and back, but it's easier to take the car and park nearby when you have all your beach gear and kids with you. This was our 3rd stay in Wells and we certainly enjoyed it very much. We'll be back!

Cute and clean!

We enjoyed our time at the cottage. We were impressed with how clean it was. The beach was only a short drive away. Unfortunately, the mattresses were rock hard.

Drake Island Stay

We enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage was clean and the location was lovely. Can't beat the price. Hope to return soon. The only suggestions I would make would be to place hooks on the back of the bedroom doors so there would be a place to hang towels.

We are definitely coming back. The cottage is clean and bright. Susan is a great host.

The property is well maintained. The view from our cottage is serene looking out over the salt water marsh. I loved sipping my morning tea on the porch. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need to have breakfast and meals. The beds are comfortable. We have really enjoyed our mini vacation. Thank you, Susan.

We are third-generation owners of the business our grandparents and parents built, beginning in the 1950s. We were raised on the property and love running a small family business, as well as being stewards of the cottages and the protected tidal wetland that we overlook. Some of our returning quests are families that have been coming to stay with us for four generations.

This cottage offers guests a combination of quiet and convenience, located just a mile from one of Southern Maine's quietest beaches. Drakes Island Beach itself has no commercial establishments on it, yet within a few miles, you can enjoy shopping, cinemas, restaurants and the quaint villages of Ogunquit and Kennebunkport.

The property borders the beautiful Rachel Carson and Laudholm Farm wildlife preserves. You will enjoy the peaceful surroundings of your cottage. The expansive lawn stretches down to the salt marsh. Enjoy the large solar-heated swimming pool, picnic tables and grills, or a leisurely walk around the grounds.
