July 4th Week Vacation 2025

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Gambler's Retreat is ideal for our family with a spacious living area, connected to a covered screened-in deck on one end and a sunroom on the other. Pool area is fantastic for children under 5 years old. Across the street beach is wide and spacious due to the limited homes of this penisula south of Garden City pier,

Nice place, great location, awesome pool!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great time at this house. The location to the beach was perfect and a quick 1 minute walk. We could listen to the waves from our screened in porch in the evenings. The kids loved the pool which was the biggest we have seen in the area. The roads were much quieter that what we experienced in Surfside.

Starnes Family Vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was the third year in a row at Gambler's Retreat. The home fits the needs of my large family well, and we love the uncrowded beach area associated with this home.We did have two issues this year that were not completely resolved during our stay. The bathroom sink in the shared bathroom on the upper floor was very slow in draining. We reported it, and we received an immediate response from a maintenance person. He could not resolve the issue, and in fact, the drain became completely clogged and unusable for the remainder of our stay. A plumber also came out, but could not resolve the issue. The sink remained clogged upon our departure. We also reported to maintenance that our dishwasher became unusable the last few days, but no one came out to resolve that issue. We left notes for housekeeping making them aware of the two problems before we left the property on Saturday morning.I know these type of problems occur, but it would have been more professional for us to have received communication as to when and how these two issues would be resolved. Instead, we received no communication. That's a little disappointing.That being said, we love the home and location, and the pool area is perfect. It would be helpful if a pool skimmer was available to retrieve leaves, grass etc. out of the pool, but none was available for us to use.We will look to rent the home again, just not in the same week as this stay next year.

Nice Spacious Home Convenient Location- Disappointing Maintenance

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of 12 stayed at the Gambler's Retreat from July 4-11,2026. This home was very spacious and served our family well. The living space gave us plenty of room for meals and games, while the screen porch and large pool were our favorites. The crushed ice machine was also a plus for our family as we packed coolers for the beach. The kitchen was well stocked with any and all pots, pans, appliances, and utensils. We were very well satisfied with the home itself.We were however disappointed to find the dishwasher was clogged, along with the bathroom sink in the adjoining bathroom when we arrived. This bathroom was being used by 5 people and was completely clogged upon our arrival. We called the Garden City Office multiple times before a maintenance worker came with Draino, which did not help. He stated a plumber would be out that evening (Sunday). Around lunchtime on Monday no one had shown up so we called yet again. On Monday evening, a plumbing company showed up, stayed less than 30 min and said the concrete would have to be jack hammered in order to unstop the clog. We never heard another word from anyone the remainder of the week about the sink. This was very inconvenient as the sink could not be used at all. Therefore, several of the guys in our family worked to unstop the sink in just a few minutes by blowing out the line on the outside of the house, NOT beneath the cement. The pool was also growing algae and was full of debris mid week. The pool was apparently cleaned prior to our arrival and we never saw anyone service the pool throughout our stay. The pool was very nice compared to those with other rentals, but was unfortunately not maintained during our stay. We did report our disappointment to the office staff at Garden City Realty on Friday before departing on Saturday, July 11. On July 15 we were given a small portion of our rent back, but would have much rather had items repaired prior to our arrival to allow us more time to enjoy our vacation.

Gambler’s Retreat

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, this is a great place to stay. We love the screened in porch, the swing, the pool, and the great ice maker! This year, however, the dishwasher was broken and didn’t get fixed, the pool turned green and no one came to check it, and we had to change out the air filter downstairs and clean the wall in the bathroom. The bedspread in the master bedroom was stained and the knobs on the bed’s footboard kept falling off. The ceiling fans have lint on the blades. This is a great house, but it needs some care.

Reviewer Comments: Gamblers Retreat is a great beach home that has just about everything you need to enjoy your home away from home. Too bad it wasn’t clean though. Most of the beds need new mattresses, the grill outside needs to be replaced. It’s all rusted and went on fire. The sheets on the beds were dingy.We made due with what it was and did a lot of cleaning. The location is great.

Great week in Garden City with some Issues to Start

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Gambler's Retreat is a wonderful property with lots of positives primarily location and amenities. The home is thoughtfully decorated for the comfort of families and guests. However, there were some negatives as well. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed that the pool was not clean with significant amounts of algae. We promptly contacted the rental company on Saturday and requested that the pool be cleaned. This happened on Tuesday. The house also had some issues with cleanliness. Overall, the kitchen and bathrooms were clean and although the floor had been swept it did not appear to have been scrubbed or mopped. Could not walk around barefoot without turning our feet dark. The rental company was very responsive to our concerns and sent housekeeping back to the house as well as contacted the pool company for a cleaning. Other suggestions to consider would be to replace the mattresses, they are not comfortable, add a handrail to the pool to assist with getting out particularly for elderly people, replace dining room chairs or recover and be careful going down the stairs inside.First time visit to Garden City Beach and we really enjoyed the area. Will not consider this property again even though our issues were addressed. If we had not brought it to the attention of the rental company, the pool probably would not have been cleaned until the end of the season. Yuck!I appreciate Garden City Realty for being pleasant to work with in addressing our concerns. Nice group of people!Hopefully this feedback will enhance the stay for other families.

Great week at the beach!

We loved the location and the privacy of the beach. We loved the property and the pool. We had a couple of minor issues and we called the realtor and they immediately game and fixed them. Would definitely stay here again.

Loved the location and easy walk to beach access!! The pool was FANTASTIC- a BIG hit for adults and kids and was the perfect place to watch the beautiful Garden City sunsets! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals- and the ice machine was an added bonus! Thank you for sharing your vacation home with us! We will definitely be back!!

Saved us after original cottage A/C broken

It was hard to be by pool in late afternoon due to no shade. Needs umbrellas. Loved how well the kitchen was equipped, the gas grill and the ice machine! Porches were wonderful. It was a great stay.

Moore and Smith 2022 Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our rental experience started out badly. The A/C for the upstairs of the house was not working and had to be repaired. When checking in, there was a notice attached to our package that the stove was not working. This was a major inconvenience to us due to our grandkids having severe allergies which we combat by bringing foods to cook that they can eat. When we inquired about the repairs, we were told that it would be Thursday before the repairs could be performed, which I told them that was totally unacceptable. I was direct with them and told them what was expected if they could not repair the stove on Monday. The stove was repaired that day and it was surprising to find that the gas line to the stove was never hooked up and was laying on the floor under the stove. Otherwise, the remainder of the week was delightful.

For years now, we have rented house n Ocean Lakes, but decided to try something different. I can say we are probably done with staying at Ocean Lakes, we all really liked the laid back, relaxed feel of Garden City Beaches. Best trip we have had in years. I am the un-official "trip-organizer". I always have to book the accommodations, etc. I was very satisfied with my experience with Garden City Reality, they were professional, and easy to work with. I would recommend them and I would definitely use them again.

Grand Time with THE GRANDCHILDREN!

We were VERY satisfied with our stay. The condition of the property was was first class...you could see how well the owners maintained their property along with GCR. The kitchen was well-appointed, the furniture, beds, and all around surroundings were so nice. The appliances were top notch! The pool was fantastic...all the kids wanted to do was go from beach to pool and REPEAT! All our little 5 year old wanted was the pool and pancakes!!! We had 6 grandchildren there plus their parents and ourselves....we can't say enough about how impressed we were with the cleanness, the property's condition and our overall experience of l living there for a week! If we did need anything GCR was on it in a professional, courteous manner. Thank you for a memorable vacation! We so appreciate such a great rental property being available to us and letting us experience such a wonderful vacation!!!

Family with children vacation

The rug on the upper floor was dirty And the sofa was well worn.. Also there were very tiny ants in the kitchen.the ice machine in the island made a lot of noise and never really made enough ice

Summer Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is my 3rd year renting the same house. Love the location,the house and pool is great. It seemed to me that house is not as well kept as 1st year we stayed. Had issue with toilet leaking from top floor to bottom floor. This was quickly resolved by realty company. Clothes dryer would not cut off and this was not fixed during our stay. Something should be done about tree/bush in edge of yard on north side. Very dangerous when trying to back car out. Cannot see if car was coming or if someone was on sidewalk on bike or walking. I usually put deposit down for this house for same dates next year but did not this year. Think rental amount on house has gotten too high. Will have to think about it and explore other rental properties and compare prices for comparable house.
