The Charter House formally known as The Charter Room. A 3 bedroom house for rent

Cozy three bedroom house. This use to be an apartment attached to our family home in Ocracoke, but we have moved out and opened the entire house. The part designed as a mother-in-law suite has a queen size bed and a roll out single cot. Cable TV 32 inch flat screen and wireless internet in the master suite, a full bathroom with a large outdoor shower. You even have your own deck. The main part of the house is accessible through the laundry room and has an open floor plan and two bedrooms and a bathroom. Pets are allowed for an additional $50.

If you want to do early check in there is an additional $45 fee. It is extra added stress for our cleaners to have everything ready for those that get here on an early ferry. Normal check in time is 3:30pm and check out time is 11:00am. If you want to check out late it is a $100 fee.

We do NOT post on Craigslist, so if you see it there, it is not us.

We do not offer refunds for weather related cancellations, ferry issues, or illness. We highly recommend that you purchase optional travel insurance.

Russ and Ellen communicated with efficacy and the place and house was perfect for our family to enjoy Ocracoke. Love the convenience to everything around and the rental of their Golf cart to come and go with ease!!! For the amount of room and price, we would definitely stay again in the future!

We enjoyed our stay! everything was clean, the house was much bigger and open than we had expected which we enjoyed. we also ended up having car troubles and host offered to help!

The house was in a great location and the golf cart at the house was a great addition. There was plenty of room for five of us. Added bonus was the Fig Festival going on close by while we were there. Accommodations were good for the price.

Loved the place. Nothing fancy, but very comfortable and cozy. The Beds were all fantastic. Great mattresses. The hosts were great and responded to all communication extremely quickly. A wonderful place through and through.

Our stay exceed our expectations. The house was very well stocked, and clean. It has a homey feel that made you feel comfortable. Very spacious and open. Great front deck to relax on. We also rented a golf cart which made getting around easy. We were texted that the house was ready and got to move in early. Russ was very pleasant and helpful. Ellen was very prompt answering emails. We would definitely stay here again. The air conditioning was working perfectly.

We enjoyed our stay but the air conditioning in the main living area did not work. The huge ceiling fan was a plus though. The house was clean and pet-friendly. We hope to stay at The Charter House again.

This is a great spot for couples or small families we have stayed here twice now and enjoyed it each time.

Great location, clean and easy check in. has an old school charm with new improvements like Keurig coffee machine. Comfy bed. Easy walk to town. A beautiful old tree with mourning doves greet you in the morning. House is appointed well for convenience. Inside of house slightly dark but that's the era I think. As a couple we had excess space but had a great time. Could easily sleep 6. Great communication with hosts.

Great little spot.

Tucked away but still close to everything. We loved it, and it came with Noodles, a delightful dog who came to visit at least every morning for kisses and butt-rubs :) Recommend.

Wonderful stay

First off, house was huge which was a big plus. Check in was easy and the owners had golf carts for us to rent which made things a breeze. No complaints at all! Will definitely rent here again. Thanks for a great stay

Nice last min stay on the island.

The place and parking was a bit small but it worked out for what we needed last min. Host was friendly.

Been off and on Ocracoke since I was a child. Growing up there in the summers. Have many friends there and spend as much time as I can on the island. I live in a small farming community and am also a farmer. Would like to retire to Ocracoke someday...that story was written a few years back. When Covid hit we moved to Ocracoke and lived here. It has been a wonderful experience. Our son graduated from Ocracoke School and we have loved living on the island full time. But we are now working on the retired portion of our life and decided that traveling would be a fun thing to do. So, you may or may not see us on Ocracoke!

We tried to make it similar to a nice hotel room to be familiar to everyone. Now the Charter Room, is open as a 3 bedroom house. This place is close to everything. If you like visiting Ocracoke you know about the local restaurants and bars. Golf carts are popular and for rent everywhere, even on site. Biking, clamming, shelling and fishing are just a few activities to do in Ocracoke.
