Great apartment & location

This is a fantastic place. Quirky, clean and comfortable in an unbeatable location. The spiral stairs are steep and narrow so not for those with mobility issues. The plumbing does make noise but as Brits we all are used to old buildings with interesting sounds so no issue for us. We would definitely stay here again. Good clear instructions from owner.

Location is important but it's not everything

This location was awesome, but the unit itself could use updates and communication with the property manager was non-existent. In the listing description the unit mentioned it's decorated with antiques. I would say it's more like clutter, between the VHS, magazines, DVD's, books, and stuff animals. Lastly the oven didn't work and when I reached out no one got back to me. I don't usually need a property manager but when they don't get back to you I have an issue with that. Especially when you can tell they put no effort into the unit itself. Understandably it's an old building with pipes and noises, but they use that's an excuse. Again it's a great location and if you're ok with no communication with your property manager if something goes wrong then this is the place for you. We will be visiting Boston again, but won't be staying here

Perfect Boston City Location

The location for city exploration is excellent. Keep in mind that this is a small apartment with realistic limitations in an older building. Look closely at other reviews which do talk about their concerns for limitations. For the four of us, seasoned travelers in our 70's, it worked out great ... we are adaptable!!!

Family Boston trip

Awesome location in Boston which was key as we didn't have a car. Very walkable to many areas of Boston, the park and the train station from the house. The house is a little outdated and the instructions for the AC were not correct, but once we figured it out it worked okay. We were there in wit was in the in the mid to upper 90s, so jtypical w

Nice location, to get your luggage to the bedroom is tricky, spiral stairscase

The only thing is if your a light sleeper you might have a problem the water pipes are very noisy. It’s an old building. For the check in process we were not informed that the look box was in a cabinet outside the door. I found it out of sheer luck and there are multiple lock boxes so we tried 3 and got luck.

Great Location, but ....

PROS: The location of this property is great to be able to walk everywhere. CONS: You cannot put toilet paper in the toilets! You have to put it in the trash can. I just think that is nasty and gross. I did not realize that when I booked it, that would have been a deal breaker for me. For the price you pay for this property, putting nasty toilet paper in a trash can is ridiculous. Also, there were not enough towels for the 4 of us. No extra towels anywhere. There were no kitchen towels to dry dishes with. There is warning in the description about building noises and there definitely are! One night it was so loud that we were woken up at 1:30 am and didn't get back to sleep for several hours. Every night there were noises, some nights louder than others. One bedroom had the street noise - sirens, noise like skateboards going down the street, people talking, etc. If you are a light sleeper you will not sleep well. The spiral staircase is very narrow and would not be safe to carry suitcase down. Bring your own bath soap because there was not any provided.

Location was great

The location of the place was its best feature. We were able to drop off our luggage prior to check-in since we had an early flight. The spiral staircase was challenging at times because of its narrow stairs. We found it was easier to keep our suitcases upstairs and bring down clothes each day, a large suitcase would be very difficult to take it down the stairs. The place was clean but the towels were fewer than we needed.but was resolved. We are currently communicating with the owner with sending us the item we erroneously left there,

Lovely property, responsive hosts

The listing is as described. Everything was very clean. The kitchen is well equipped. The spiral staircase does take a bit of time to get used to using. We left our suitcases on the main floor, rather than struggling to get them up and down the tight staircase. The location is prime, within minutes of many attractions. We took a liking to the Beacon Hill Hotel on Charles Street. Excellent food and a wonderful patio! We only had one request of the hosts during our stay, and they responded promptly and efficiently. All in all, highly recommend!

Perfect location for a family getaway!

We stayed four nights and it was perfect for our needs. Lots of space for the teen children to spread out and can't imagine a more perfect location in the center of everything. Accurate description of property including that the stairs will not work for anyone that is older or has issues with tight spaces. Everything is dated but absolutely functional. Perfect Location

The spot came just as advertised. The entrance is located in an alleyway but we were able to drive right to the door to unload. I used Spot Hero and found a parking garage five minutes away. Those who have visited Boston before will know how walkable it is so we didn't need the car again until we left. In terms of the accommodations, it was larger than we expected. Large living room upstairs and two large bedrooms below. The whole place was outfitted with everything that you would ever need. We didn't use the kitchen (other than the fridge) but we've not stayed in a VRBO before that was better equipped. As indicated in the description, the spiral staircase is tight so we just left our suitcases upstairs and took what we needed for the four days down to our bedroom. The location is ideal. Five to ten minutes to the North end, Quincy Market, Downtown Crossing, Boston Commons, waterfront and pretty much any other places you'd want to visit. I would highly recommend booking this spot and we will most definitely be back.

Great location but place needs a lot of work

Location is top notch-walking distance to most areas and minutes from many shops, grocery store and restaurants. The host will send you an extremely detailed explanation of how to check in/out and how to navigate the area-which even as a former Boston resident I appreciated immensely. The amount of room you have is also very much appreciated for a family of four.I cannot however give this place ten stars. It needs a lot of updates to make it more “livable”.The downstairs where the bedrooms are have no AC, only fans (2 in each room), the upstairs/main floor where the living room and kitchen are there is an AC that works really well. The bedrooms got hot specially in the front room that has a very high window with some old blinds- they need a black out shade for the front room since it gets super light as soon as the sun comes out. The place itself is in dire need of a fresh coat of paint, fixing holes on the walls, broken flooring/tiles, broken baseboards, etc. Bathrooms definitely need to be updated, the shower handle kept falling as we turned it on. It also has a LOT of knick knacks/antiques and it made the place feel claustrophobic for us, not quirky and cute- but some people might not mind that. The spiral staircase is treacherous- imagine Ross from FRIENDS saying “pivot, pivot” but you have to do that with just your body. We left all our luggage upstairs. They need to invest back in the property if they are charging people to stay there

The location is perfect for seeing all the wonderful things Boston has to offer. But, be warned this unit is falling apart. There was an abundance of black mold in the AC unit, the oven didn’t work, tile in the bathroom is crumbling and the beds were so old and lumpy. Needs MAJOR TLC.

Disappointed

Our Uber driver dropped us off, and pointed to a hill and left us to walk down it with our luggage. Not easy to retrieve the keys, and negotiating the winding staircase with luggage, treacherous. The kitchen was okay and the living room, comfortable. Bedrooms good and beds very comfy. The bathroom was horrible. I cannot believe the lack of caring about the condition it is in and the owners not taking paying guests' needs into consideration. It totally turned us off, and we hated to even go into it. Unless they address the holes in the walls, the "tile" and lack of large, thick towels and other amenities, I doubt anyone would give this unit a positive review!
