On the main floor, this cozy cottage comprises living room, dining room, den/ bedroom with foldout sofa, fully equipped updated kitchen and bathroom . Upstairs has large bedroom with queen size bed, a sitting area with a foldout futon and a large closet. A single airbed is also available. Laundry room in basement with a separate outside entrance.
Cottage sleeps 2 - 3 persons comfortably. Can easily accommodate families with two small children.
Large deck off kitchen for summer entertaining, comfortable outdoor seating for six and barbeque.
TV with local channels and internet access included.

Terrific Family Thanksgiving Cottage

The cottage was absolutely the best ever!! From location to perfectly fitting for my grandson to stay part of the time, to a great kitchen for preparing all my pies and dishes to take to the big Thanksgiving feast a few minutes away. Comfy and cozy, and wonderful peace and neighborhood atmosphere from start to finish. Would stay here anytime family gets together in this area, and maybe even just as a fun, walkable place to spend time exploring this area. Hosts were the best ever!

Third stay

Can't beat the location (short 2 block walk to Proctor). Has all the amenities needed for a comfortable extended stay.

Lovely spot

This is the second time staying at Danny’s cottage. Was just as lovely this time. Perfect location near Procter and UPS. Quiet and cozy. The steps to the upstairs bedroom are steep and quite narrow but this was not an issue for us.

Walkable neighborhood in Tacoma

Perfect location in the Procter District. Easy walking distance to grocery stores and restaurants and a quick drive to Point Defiance Park and the waterfront. House had everything we needed.

Why Not North Tacoma?

My wife and I spent a very relaxing month at "Thistledown Cottage" in North Tacoma. Danny and Teres were lovely hosts, always available when we needed anything. The house is cozy. Nice to have separate rooms (living, dining, den, kitchen, bedroom and a nice outdoor deck). The house had all the necessities. Bathroom had a great shower. The only minor cons were the bathroom sink is small (hard to wash your face or shave) and sparse cabinet space in kitchen for our food. We adapted by keeping our food bins on the floor in the kitchen - no big deal. The neighborhood is lovely. We took advantage of some local restaurants just around the corner and Point Defiance Park is great for walks. It was a great visit and the weather was perfect mid July to mid August. We have friends and family in the area so we'll probably be back.

Awesome Cottage

My husband, myself, and our 3 year old enjoyed our stay at Thistledown Cottage. This home is located in a lovely neighborhood. It is safe and quiet and close to lots of shops and tourist destinations. The house was equipped with everything we needed during our stay. Would definitely stay again!

What a gem!

My husband, son, and I rented this cottage for a week while visiting family in the area. It was perfect for us. The location was great for our day trips to Seattle, Tacoma, and Gig Harbor. It’s well-kept, very clean, and in a nice, quiet neighborhood. There are restaurants, shops, and food stores all in walking distance. Outdoor deck area and gated driveway parking is a big plus. Owners are very nice and very accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent this property again.

Perfect stay

This place was perfect for me, my husband and our 26 yr. old son. I grew up in the area and we were back for a memorial service. Great place, great neighborhood. Able to walk to many shops, restaurants, etc. Deck was really nice. The hosts were great to work with, very helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Perfect Proctor Location

Talk about a great place with a great location- this is it! The house is perfect with every detail attended to- a warm house welcome with snacks, wine, tea and coffee. An immaculate house with an extra comfy bed. Definitely our top place for staying in Tacoma - Proctor specifically with less than a block to downtown. If you need a weekend getaway or a longer stay- this is THE place.

Coziest Cottage Ever

This was such a cute property! We aren't used to the cold Tacoma weather, so we were very happy the heaters worked perfectly and there were pleanty of blankets. The owners are the sweetest people, and everything is so well stocked! There were tons of extra towels, soap, trash bags, paper towels... you name it. The laundry room was seperate from the house and it was quite drizzly when we were here, but that was just a minor inconvenience. This is a perfect little spot for a young couple to vacation!

Vacation Getaway

The house was perfect for us. It was easy to get to from the airport and in a quiet neighborhood. The house is well taken care of and the next time we come to visit we will look to use it again.

Tacoma Visit

The property had everything we needed. Only thing that would be nicer is a solid railing vs rope to upper level. Everything else was great. Nice close walk to restaurants. Really enjoyed Peaks n Pints.

Great Location in Tacoma

Perfect location in Tacoma for a weekend trip. Within walking distance to restaurants and groceries in Proctor. Great neighborhood for a walk.

Great stay

This cute cottage has all the comforts of home. The neighborhood is safe and wonderful for walking. We walked to the Proctor District every morning for coffee and walked to visit our kids at UPS. We will definitely stay here again.

Our home away from home

This is our third stay in Danny and Teres’ lovely cottage. We plan to be here once again next year and look forward to it already as we pack up our things from this visit. Owners, Danny & Teres, are a Scottish / American couple who are teachers (retired), visual artists and savvy travelers. We have created a space that we, ourselves, would enjoy staying in while away from home.

This cottage is next door to our 1904 family residence. We bought the house, built in 1908, to create a guest house for friends, family and visitors to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We have preserved the integrity of this post Victorian cottage, while adding modern comforts.

Our North End neighborhood is a very desirable area of Tacoma. Our location is quiet and safe, yet only minutes away from the vibrant Proctor District and also the University of Puget Sound. It is perfect for UPS' Parents Weekends, graduations etc. It is an ideal spot for those traveling on business.
It is centrally located to explore the Seattle / Tacoma area, ski slopes, Puget Sound and Pacific Ocean beaches, waterways and islands. All can be day trips.
Tacoma is in the midst of a cultural revival as found in such places as the Tacoma Art Museum, Museum of International Glass, the Washington State Historical Museum and the LeMay Car Museum.
Cottage is ideally located for golfers wishing to play Chambers Bay, home of the 2015 US Open.
