You can probably tell just how passionate we are about The Wicket, but it really is a superb home to spend your vacation in.

With its fabulous West Coast location, our beautiful beachfront apartment is just a few feet from the waters' edge; it's just about as close to the sea as you can get & it's our little bit of paradise!

'The Wicket' is a gorgeous split-level penthouse home with open plan living areas, high vaulted ceilings and a balcony terrace with uninterrupted views of the sea.

Very modern & light, the spacious top floor living and kitchen areas are air conditioned throughout & offer every modern convenience. The lounge has comfortable sofas along with TV & telephone for free local/international calls. A selection of books are available for use during your stay, and there is free Wi-Fi throughout the apartment.

The top floor is also home to the air-conditioned master ensuite bedroom and a further full bathroom. The ground floor houses the second air conditioned ensuite bedroom, entrance, utility room plus the den with a futon bed. It sleeps up to four comfortably and is fully equipped with everything you need for a luxury vacation experience.

The open terrace has sun loungers along with dining table, chairs & sunshade…perfect for watching the spectacular Caribbean sunsets.

With easy access to local shops, restaurants and bars, golf, watersports, cricket, horse riding & situated just on the edge of historic Speightstown, this is an exceptional duplex apartment that enjoys a private terrace with direct sea views.

We have a 7 night minimum stay apart from the Christmas period which is a 10 night minimum stay.

35th wedding anniversary

This place is amazing!! I would definitely recommend especially if you are looking for a quiet get away. We had the beach mostly to ourselves. Great restaurants close. A little walk to Heywoods beach for calmer waters. I can’t say enough great things about our trip!!! Only con was the apartment next store was being renovated and they were doing the tile on the balcony for 2 days, so if you are one to let this ruin your visit you might want to ask when that will be done. Nothing the host could control. Jon and Nikki were very responsive and great to work with. Definitely would stay again. One thing the host might want to tell guests is there is a hose on the other side of the parking garage to wash off the sand. We didn’t know about that until a few days into our trip. It made a world of difference cleaning off all the sand!!

Quiet and safe neighborhood, well equipped condo

Beautiful condo in a very convenient neighborhood. Beach right across the street, 2 excellent restaurants practically on the ground floor of the condo (We ate at both: Baia and The Sand Street Bistro--both excellent). A bakery about a 5 min walk away, grocery stores, banks with ATM machines all about 7-12 min walking distance away. The neighborhood was very quiet and felt safe. The condo is located right on the coast so there's beach that goes on and on in either direction you walk. If you walk a little further down, about 10 min, there's Heywood's beach enclosed by a little cove so the waters are calmer. The property was clean and well stocked with anything you could need including insect repellent, plenty of beach towels, sunscreen in case you forgot yours, pots and pans, cooking oil, liquid detergent etc. We did not use it but there's also plenty of beach chairs, snorkel equipment, beach umbrella, board games for use as well. As for cons, there weren't many and as others have said, definitely not deal breakers. We would definitely stay here again. Cons include: 2 flights of stairs. I believe this was in the advertisement though. My mom is older--she could manage but had to be extra careful. As others have mentioned, many locks on the doors which was tricky to maneuver at first and I'm not sure how safe these would keep you if you are fumbling around with keys at night and the showers upstairs were out of order but there was a working shower downstairs.

A Fabulous Stay st The Wicket

We had a wonderful time at The Wicket. A fabulous property in a fantastic location. Lots of room, great facilities, wonderful terrace, comfortable bed…. I could go on and on but suffice to say that we intend to go back at some point, sooner rather than later. Communication with the owners was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend this property. Oh and Speightstown was a great place.

Great apartment

We had an amazing time at “The Wicket”. It is a beautiful, spacious apartment containing everything you could possibly need. Very comfortable beds, cooling air con throughout and lovely sofas. The verandah is delightful with beautiful views of the sunset. And only a few second’s walk to the beach. Highly recommended.

Lovely apartment and great location

This was our second time in Barbados and decided to stay somewhere different to where we stayed last time which was near Oistins. So glad we did! Speightstown is a lively little town with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops a short walk away. Local beaches are great for relaxing and snorkelling. The apartment was extremely spacious with all the amenities you would expect and really felt like a home away from home. Host and apartment manager were really easy to contact and a great help whenever we needed them. Only minor issue was we were expecting to have a BBQ on the patio but this wasn’t available. No big deal as we cooked inside in the MASSIVE well kitted out kitchen instead. We were lucky enough to witness 3 hawksbill turtles nesting on the beach directly opposite the apartment and even managed to save a baby hatchling from the road one morning. Dream come true moments :). Location is also great for heading out to all the various tourist hotspots as it’s fairly central. Definitely recommend you hire a car to explore much of what Barbados has to offer !

Fantastic Property

The Wicket is a fantastic property, very spacious, luxurious and right on the beach. We spent two weeks there and it was very much a home from home. It has everything you need, including chairs and umbrellas for the beach. Speightstown is still a little up and coming, but there is a great mixture of luxury restaurants/beach clubs, and more simple bars and restaurants. Lots of live music too. And it is up and coming. We toured the island and decided it was the best place to be. Jon and Nicky were great hosts, very helpful with all sorts of information and the local house manager was always available when we had a question. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend anyone to stay at the Wicket. Many thanks to our hosts for sharing such a great place to stay.

Beautiful apartment jn a perfect locstion

Nicky and Jon, you have created a little bit of personal paradise in Barbados! Your warmth exuded in the attention to detail in White Sands and your super friendly communication throughout - Gael was also so welcoming when we arrived! You have a beautiful apartment with epic sunsets every evening, a beach that pretty much only we used - handy for ab early morning Easter egg hunt! - and opposite Baia, the best restaurant we ate in, in 2 weeks - and we dined in some very special places. Thank you for your hospitality; we can’t wait to return!

The Best condo in Speightstown

This is our second visit to this property and I will not stay anywhere else. It is very clean with ALL the amenities. The owners have thought of every convenience for their guests and we are very grateful to have stayed in such a beautiful place. We will definitely be back!!

A wonderful apartment and unbelievably kind owners

We recently stayed at The Wicket for seven days, and it was certainly luxier than we expected – light and airy, impeccably clean, well furnished, aircon and fans throughout. To give you an idea of how high-end everything was, the kitchen units had been flown out from England, complete with fitters, to satisfy the previous owner’s desires. (This also had the advantage of providing a couple of 220v sockets). The location was spot-on too: the sizeable balcony overlooked beach and sea, only a road’s-width away, and the centre of town, with its choice of restaurants, was a few minutes’ walk: we particularly liked Local and Co, right on the beach, for its good food and service at reasonable prices. But we wouldn’t have been able to enjoy any of this if it hadn’t been for the incredible kindness of the owners, because owing to a dates mix-up – entirely our fault – we arrived in the evening exactly a week before they were expecting us. They were in residence themselves, and went to a lot of trouble trying to contact the owners of the other apartments in the block to see if one was free, without success. So they offered us the second bedroom for the night, and in the morning said that they’d decided they could camp out in a house they owned and were renovating, so we were welcome to stay, at no extra charge for the week! So a thousand thanks again, Jon and Nicky. And while we don’t recommend other renters make the same mistake as us, know that if you do have any problems, Jon and Nicky will do their utmost to help you out.

Great place to relax

The Wicket was everything we hoped it would be. Went to Barbados to relax and we spent 90% of our time within 500 meters of the apartment as everything we needed was nearby. The beach across the street was our personal playground (we often were the only ones using it). Paulette (the housekeeper) was super nice and helpful (as were all the people we met in Barbados). We made great use of the many books that are available at the apartment. All in all we were very pleased with everything. If you are looking for a low-key relaxing hideaway this is the place to go. Only negative is the weight gain from frequenting the little bakery down the street!

Heaven!

This beach front penthouse is everything and more than we could have wished for. Stunning views of the ocean and, more or less on most days, a private beach as few people ever on it. You can take sunbeds provided by Jon & Nicky and beach towels. My son and husband were even lucky enough to swim with turtles from this beach two days in a row. Located a few minutes from grocery store, local bakery and bars and restaurants in Speightstown it’s in a perfect location. We would have booked for next year but it’s already booked and I can understand why. Amazing thank you so much.

A little piece of heaven

This property was an absolutely fantastic find. This is not just a rental property. A great location, spacious, well decorated and stocked with everything you can think of. The balcony was fantastic with a great view of the ocean. Every detail has been accounted for and you just feel right at home. We spend most of our beach time in front of Juma's, which was a short walk away. Some of the other activities that I will highly recommend is the Sunset & Snorkeling cruise on El Tigre, Animal Flower Restaurant and cave and Hunte's Gardens. This was a great rental and I am very thankful for the owners that shared this little piece of heaven with us. I hope to be back next year. Thank you so much, Aristha

Amazing

La casa di Jon, magnifica e ampia proprietà sulla spiaggia, ha tutto e di più di quello che serve per una vacanza come a casa... o forse meglio. La cucina è super fornita di ogni attrezzo compreso macchina Nespresso (X un italiano non è niente male). Il proprietario mette a disposizione teli mare e giochi da spiaggia per i bimbi nonché per lo snorkelling. La zona è tranquilla e a due passi da supermercati, il mercato del pesce e ristoranti locali. (5 minuti da Fish Pot). Consiglio questa perfetta soluzione per trascorrere una piacevole e rilassante vacanza alle Barbados.

Fantastic!

We had a great stay in The Wicket! Jon & Nicki provided a comprehensive set of arrival information and we booked pickup from the airport with Michael who was waiting to meet us. A 30 minute drive saw us arrive in Speightstown to be greeted and shown around by Paulette the housekeeper. The Wicket is a very comfortable and superbly equipped apartment with washing machine, dryer and fully equipped kitchen even down to a measuring jug! Each bedroom has its own AC as well as one for the lounge and an additional one for the kitchen so you can manage each area's temperature individually. The second floor balcony is secure and provides a lovely view over the ocean and white sands beach. Over the course of our week there we only occasionally shared the beach with anyone else - it is almost exclusively yours, and we even saw a turtle laying it’s eggs one night while walking back from dinner! There is a reef 20 metres out which is great for snorkelling - the GoPro is now full of underwater footage! Another great feature of The Wicket is the security. You enter on the ground floor either by foot via a keypad gated entry or drive in with the remote control for the electric gate. From there you need another key to access the communal corridor before a further key into The Wicket itself, which incidentally also has its own safe for valuables. We found eating out quite expensive and so alternated with cooking ourselves, which with the combination of a couple of supermarkets close by and the well equipped kitchen made this very easy. There is a lot to do in and around Speightstown and if all you want to do is relax you have everything you need right there. However we decided to hire a car and explore further afield a few days after we arrived, and calling around found that the recommended MAH car hire was the cheapest. Personally I think its well worth a car for a few days to go visit the East and South coasts, and if you end up doing anything else like a Catamaran trip or water sports etc, it’s far easier to just drive down yourself - although most will pick you up from Speightstown. We also did some paddle boarding arranged by Edmo, 10 mins South of Speightstown and found him to be very reliable and professional, and able to arrange pretty much anything you want to do. I can’t recommend The Wicket enough for the versatility and comfort it offers as well as location right on the beach and access local amenities - you won’t be disappointed - and we’ll certainty be back!

Excellent holiday accommodation in a great location

The Wicket is a great vacation apartment with excellent facilities maintained to a high standard. We loved snorkelling from the beach right in front of the property. The location looking west over the beach is perfect for watching the sunset with a cocktail on the balcony. Speightstown is a charming location with a good range of shops, beachfront bars and restaurants across the price range, and very friendly locals. We especially enjoyed early morning yoga on the deck at the 1.11e bar (good coffee there too). The Little Bristol bar has a great atmosphere on Friday nights in particular. The museum in town is well done and is a great introduction to the island. Also make sure to visit Tiyi's jewellery shop in the plaza opposite Jordan's supermarket. Further afield, the Animal Flower Cave is a great spot (with an excellent restaurant) and St Nicholas Abbey is worth a visit, with the view of the west coast from Cherry Tree Hill nearby, and then carry on down to Morgan Lewis windmill. All in all we had a wonderful two weeks at The Wicket and can't wait to return. Highly recommended.

Perfect Home away from Home

This beautiful condo had it all and more for a relaxing get away to a quiet and friendly town. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with everything you could possibly need to prepare meals. The linens and towels were top of the line. The view was spectacular and everything you need for a wonderful day at the beach is there for you and your family. It was spotlessly clean upon arrival and the lovely Pauline was there to greet us and show us around. We were lucky enough to meet Jon and Nicky and they were as nice as their condo!! Highly recommend The Wicket for a relaxing place to stay

Week in Barbados

A really great property in a good situation. The property has everything you could need for a great holiday. Speightstown is a nice place to wander around good choice of food great beaches close by and very safe. It's nice to see it is unspoiled by too much tourism. I would like to add the process of booking was very straightforward and Jon kept us up to date with all the information we needed. Would definitely return and would certainly highly recommend the property for a laid back holiday.
