Awarded best Residential Wood Design Award in Ontario for 2013. Stunning architectural design with 30 ft beamed ceilings, wood floors, stone accent walls and floor to ceiling windows capture the amazing SW/E views of Kennisis lake. The kitchen is equipped for a gourmet chef with both a kitchen eating and a formal dining area. The outside living spaces have been carefully designed for maximum entertainment with a built in state of the Art Argentine Coal Grill, wood oven pizza, sunken hot tub, a built in campfire area, all furnished with luxurious patio furniture, outdoor kitchen with sink, beverage fridge and bar stools. For those wanting a quick BBQ grill, a gas Webber BBQ is available. The grounds are beautifully landscaped which includes a private outdoor jungle gym and sand box area for the little ones.

4 + loft Bedrooms and 3 Bathrooms: 1 King Size bed master bathroom with en-suite, 2 Queen size guest bedrooms with sharing bathroom, 1 children's room with 2 bunk beds, Kids TV loft area, Office area next to Master bedroom, Kitchen, Dining room, Living Room, TV Room, extra guest bathroom with shower. Maximum occupancy: 6 adults and 4 children

Laundry and food pantry. Living / dining area has 2 sided fireplace, 2 seating areas - one with satellite tv., phone, highspeed internet throughout the cottage, wii. Ping-pong table. Central Air Conditioning.

Wonderful Kennisis Lake

We were 3 generations staying on Kennisis Lake and we had a fun filled week at La Serena. We enjoyed the accommodation, the lake and nearby hiking and biking. The hot tub, table tennis, outdoor pizza oven and wood grill were add bonus.

Amazing property and great host

We had a wonderful 9 day stay at this beautiful property. The cottage design and layout are very unique. It is built and equipped with high quality material, appliances and furnishings. We loved every aspect of it, including its location within a very quiet bay, surrounded by many trees and lush plants, offering a distinct privacy and relaxing vibe. The outdoor amenities are excellent. The cottage is extremely clean and well maintained. Monica is a great host. She was always available to answer all our questions, provide very helpful information and direction. All instructions she provided us were very precise and clear. We hope to be back very soon!!

Incredible Vacation

This property has everything you can possibly imagine and more to offer. From the little children's park, to the outdoor grill and pizza oven to the water trampoline and kayaking across the lake. We also rented a boat for the week for tubing and wakeboarding and the lake was perfect. The house is spacious, well-thought out in terms of flow and design and the finishes, millwork and furniture all provide for a calming, relaxed vacation. The kitchen has everything and more if you are foodie. We had a wonderful vacation and will definitely try to rent again in the future.

Truly wonderful experience

This cottage is a really wonderful place on an incredibly special lake. We were very sad to say goodbye. Monica was very professional and easy to deal with and helped us every step of the way even from quite a distance. We were truly spoiled for any future holiday. Thank you very much for sharing your home with us.

Stayed for two weeks in Aug

From the start to the finish of our vacation we were blown away! This cottage has everything! First off the architecture is stunning. The pictures don't even do it justice. I can't imagine how much planning, ingenuity and vision went into the design. Everyone who visited us was blown away as they walked through the approx 11 foot front doors. It is so airy and fresh in the cottage. The lighting package is second to none. the windows everywhere afford beautiful views. Very child friendly. The beds were so comfortable and everything was modern and up to date. The majority of all the furniture is from Restoration hardware along with all the bed and bath linens. This owner didn't spare any expense. The cooking area is something of a chef's dream, I love to cook so we tried the Parillia grill a number of times, pizza oven, the WOLF griddle. The fridge is something to covet, it is now on my bucket list! Loads of storage room for food, clothes and guests items. Fans in every room but the airconditioning works well and may not be even necessary. The dock is not made of wood so it won't give you slivers, the sun shines all day long because of the direction the cottage is facing and the sky in Haliburton is pink most nights in the summer. All I can say is this cottage exceeded our expectations and our guest's in everyway possible. This will be a vacation rental you remember for ever! And dream of going back to!

Perfect in every way!

When I saw this amazing home on VRBO I was skeptical wondering could it really be as nice as described etc...? After emailing with the owner, Monica I felt confident that it indeed it was as represented, but to my complete joy the photos and description didn't hold a candle to being there in person and see what a treasure this place truly was! It was so much fun walking into La Serena and collectively all saying WOW this is amazing!! What a spectacular home, location and view!! This truly made our trip up from South Carolina & Arizona all worth it! This is one truly gorgeous home! Immaculate, along with all the most luxurious bathrooms, towels and linens and don't even get me started on the heavenly beds! We thoroughly enjoyed and used ALL the wonderful sitting areas from the outside dining to sipping drinks at the hot tub while the pizza cooked in the pizza oven! Evenings rounded out at the fire pit under star filled skies! Each morning we all were eager to wake early to see the mist across the water while sipping coffee on the dock! During our week stay we only ventured off property twice to grocery shop and visit the Wolf Sanctuary (highly recommmend), since we were more than happy to just stay "home". So much to do and enjoy from the water trampoline, canoe, kayaks etc. Thankfully they had treated for mosquitos which were out in full force as soon as we left the property but never bothered us at all at La Serena! From early morning through late evenings at the fire pit no bites at all! Amazing!! Our group LOVED La Serena and definitely look forward to staying here again! It was the perfect place for our little reunion! La Serena was beyond our expectations and we would happily highly recommend.

Absolute Serenity

After looking long and hard for a vacation rental we came across this magnificent home. From upon arrival to our departure we were in love with the soaring ceilings, the tranquil setting, and all of the amenities this home has to offer. We made every effort to utilize all of the home's features including the outdoor Argentine BBQ and Pizza Oven which were an absolute treat. Our group had three little ones and they loved the outdoor playground and the upstairs playroom which was well stocked with toys, movies, bean bag chairs, etc. The adults loved our early mornings sipping coffee and cappuccinos while admiring the views of the lake that every location in the house provides. We brought our own large kayaks and a fishing boat and thoroughly enjoyed lake Kennisis which was absolutely stunning in early October as the leaves turned showing brilliant oranges and reds as far as you could see. Finally, I must compliment Monica for her almost immediate responses to any questions or concerns that we had. She was an excellent host and we look forward to returning in the near future to this magical place.

Heaven on earth!

This place was more than we expected. We anticipated a luxurious get-away, but it exceeded our expectations. Loved every ounce of the space. I am a Holistic Nutritionist and LOVE to cook, so was thrilled to see such a beautiful (and beautifully stocked kitchen). The outdoor space was spectacular... and the weather cool enough to enjoy the magnificent bon-fire area. Beds were super comfortable. Bathrooms very boutique-hotel-esque. Incredible dining room to gather around. {The dock area is a wee bit small - not a flaw at all, but for those that want to spend alot of time at the water, the square footage is a bit lacking.} Overall, YES, we would go back. And are so thankful for having found Le Serena.

Unforgettable experience. We shall return!

From the moment we arrived until the very last day we had a wonderful time. The cottage itself allows you all the privacy in the world. We came from Switzerland and it was our very first time in Canada. The scenery around the cottage, the silky waters of the lake, the peace and quiet, the hummingbirds in the morning when I had my tea outside, the deck by the water, the high standards of the cottage itself , the amazing Argentinian BBQ, the overall feeling of space and last but not least, the attention to detail the owners have and the quick response upon being asked a question, made a really great experience for all of us in the family.

Stunning.

We had an unbelievable stay at La Serena. From the moment we arrived we were blown away. Everything was high end and family friendly. Our kids loved the kayaks, trampoline and magic carpet, which led to hours of fun even in the rain. The inside of the house was thoughtfully and beautifully designed with many areas for both the kids and adults to relax and have fun. Beautiful decor, comfortable beds and a super well equipped kitchen. Many seating areas outside to enjoy the gorgeous view and quiet lake. We are already planning our next trip!

Beautiful Cottage

The cottage is absolutely stunning with soaring ceilings and high end finishes. They did a fabulous job desgining and decorating this cottage. We loved everything about the property. It was private (ie: could not see/hear any neighbours) and there were not a lot of boats zipping by on the lake. It was just so peaceful sitting on the dock enjoying the view. As well, Monica was also very easy to deal with and she responds right away. The kids had a great time and can’t wait to go back!

Luxurious home away from home

This was a beautiful and extremely well appointed property. The owners clearly spared no expense in ensuring that virtually every detail was taken care of. The home itself is enormous; soaring ceilings, huge windows with views of the lake and the forest, unique open plan layout that is extremely comfortable and functional. The kitchen has everything that even a professional chef might need, including extremely high end gas stove, two ovens (one convection and one conventional), a massive fridge and freezer, every kind of kitchen tool that one might need, and a wonderful built in Miele coffee maker (it makes everything from brewed coffee to cappuccino at the touch of a button), Weber barbeque and an outdoor wood fired pizza oven. There are two televisions in different parts of the home, satellite TV, apple TV and even Nintendo Wii! There's a great children's playground on the property, a great hot tub and a dock that is perfect for diving and swimming in the lake. The property is also well isolated from the neighbours, which offers excellent privacy. The only downsides were the mosquitoes (unavoidable at this time of the year, though the owners provided numerous anti-mosquito tools, including little electrified rackets) and the plastic sheets on the beds (I think that they are there to prevent bedbugs, but they are sort of uncomfortable to sleep on). Overall, we had an excellent time and would highly recommend staying at this beautiful property.
