Desolation Wilderness trailheads are accessible from Emerald Bay, a 15-minute drive south. The Rubicon trailhead is 5 minutes north. The bike trail to the beach at Meeks Bay has been completed in 2019. You can ride continuous bike trail all the way to Tahoe City to the north and Meeks Bay to the south.
