Cosy contemporary cottage in village with own courtyard & original features.

Our cottage comfortably sleeps 4 people.

You can start many beautiful walks in the Peak District National Park literally from our doorstep via Sunny Bank Lane & onto the Limestone Way. Or alternatively you are close to one of the most beautiful places in the Peak District - the Monsal Trail which is a traffic free 8.5 mile wheelchair friendly former old railway line a favourite for cyclists too.
The Horse & Jockey pub is approximately 150 steps away from our back door. The bus stop is very close to us going into Buxton/Bakewell/Castleton/ Sheffield. Cherry Tree Cafe is literally a stones throw away from us and in the village we have a CO-OP, local bakery & Post Office. We have four tea rooms all serving great food & a posh restaurant for that special occasion. Not forgetting two fish & chip shops our favourite being Mr Elliotts & all 4 pubs are within walking distance.

CLEAN, COMFORTABLE, CHARMING YET CONTEMPORARY. Log burner & central heating. Stone tiled floors on ground floor. Desk/writing area. In summer months we will leave out 2 tower type circulating cold air fans & 2 desktop circulating fans.

COURTYARD is secure & south facing with dining table, bench & traditional deck chairs.

KITCHEN fully equipped with table & chairs, integral appliances electric oven & ceramic hob. Microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge with freezer compartment and a JURA bean to cup coffee machine. Slow cooker. Dyson Stick. Electric hand mixer. Iron & board. USB sockets.

One of the best properties we've stayed at. All the little extras and touches made our stay really special. Julie was very responsive with answering our questions and gave lots of suggestions on restaurants and things to do in the area. I would love to visit the area and stay at The Old Toffee Shop again.

The Old Toffee Shop exceeded all our expectations. Cottage was spotlessly clean, decor first class and Julie's attention to detail was second to none. Would highly recommend. Loved drinking a cuppa on the patio which was a sun trap.

Beautiful cottage in a great location.

The cottage is centrally-located in Tideswell which has a good selection of shops and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The cottage is well-decorated and very comfortable for a family of four.

A wonderful post-Christmas stay!

We arrived at The Old Toffee Shop on Boxing Day - a beautifully appointed and really practical base for a few days exploring the Monsal Trail and Chee Valley with our two boys. The cottage was warm, comfortable and a pleasure to call home, even just for three nights!

very tastefully presented with everything we needed and what we were expecting.

The location in he village was good, as was parking for three cars. Enough room for 6 people to stay. All impressed with the cottage, we were warm and comfortable.

The Old Toffee Shop is a delight.

Beautifully renovated, furnished to a very high standard. Super comfortable & cosy. Julie & Nigel were extremely helpful and provided lots of lovey little extras & treats that made us feel very welcome.

Perfect for a family weekend

The cottage is simply stunning with plenty of thoughtful touches throughout. It is comfortable, cosy and very well appointed. Communication with the home owner was excellent, and they were very kind and informative. Everyone loved it, and we would definitely love to stay again. Thank you for our lovely stay!

Family weekend break

Beautiful house has everything you could want and more. In a great location brilliant local amenities. Julie the host was very helpful. Would deffo recommend.

Wonderful. We stay in lots of properties all over the world and I have to say that the attention to detail and welcoming touches of TOTS has surpassed all of them. Beautifully appointed, and in an idyllic location, this is one of the rare gems. The hosts are unwaveringly helpful and responsive, the cottage is relaxed and comfortable and it's impossible not to relax and settle back into your Peak District stay. We will return time and again, I am sure of it. Thank you for looking after us Julie, it has been an absolute joy to spend time in Tideswell.

Fresh, clean and charming!

Our stay at TOTS was perfect. Everything is fresh, clean and charming! Julie has thought of everything you might need, I’ve never stayed at a better equipped rental! We had our 4 month old grandson with us and there was everything we could need for him too. There were breakfast goodies and amazing coffee. The location is great for walking and exploring. Great restaurants within walking distance. Tideswell is just lovely!

Everything was absolutely fine. There's even a shower room for the dog! Now and then, the traffic on the main road was noisy, which kept the dog awake on the terrace. But inside, we all couldn't hear the noise and were very relaxed.

Perfect Stay in Peak District

TOTS (The Old Toffee Shop) cottage is the perfect getaway. The owner Julie has thought of everything to make a warm welcome and cozy stay. It’s adorable inside with all modern aspects in every room. The village is so lovely….and full of very kind folks…and sheep, and cows. You’ll be so pleased you came! We were. And the biggest bonus of all was the driver (Darren, recommended by the owner) who picked us up at the airport and took us to all the best places around the area all the best places. I couldn’t have asked for a more divine vacation.

Weekend Break

TOTS is a very comfortable house right in the centre of Tideswell on the main street. Quite small but with everything you might need and lots of helpful information and thoughtful touches such as a demisting mirror in the shower room and a well equipped shower room in the small courtyard to clean dogs before entering the house. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in Tideswell, together with a co-op, butcher, baker and an excellent second hand bookstore in a church. We would certainly be happy to return.

Breathtaking!

Aside from the lovely village and perfect location, I have to say that as a seasoned traveller, both home and abroad, I have never found such a well presented, clean, stylish property. Neither have I seen such attention to detail and provision of equipment and thoughtful treats. If I was less thoughtful I would shout to everyone that they must stay here!!! But then I might not be able to get in 🤭

A super family holiday, away from chores and routine, in fabulous accommodation!

We had a fantastic time in Tideswell, staying at Julie and Nigel's wonderful cottage. Our 11 year old son - a huge fan of home renovation programmes and a discerning critic of all things interior (!) - thought that the house was superb in every way: the glossy kitchen, the calming colours and the soft throws and fabrics. We all agreed with him - it felt like we were staying in a luxurious hotel suite but with the independence of self-catering. The village itself has everything that you need to make your stay easy and comfortable: a couple of good pubs, cafes for breakfast or lunch and a handy shop. The area around Tideswell offers lots of things to do and we were busy every day, despite the variable weather. There are many beautiful walks in close proximity, whether you want to wander by the river - our favourite type of walk - or climb into the hills around; cycling the Monsal Trail was also something that we really enjoyed. Located in a super village in a great part of the Peak District, this cottage is fantastically well set up to make your stay perfect. It is beautifully decorated, maintained and managed. Well thought out and much attention paid to detail. Easy and free parking. Dog friendly.

Rundherum perfekt! Großzügiges Cottage, heimelige Atmosphäre, wunderschöne Einrichtung, super Ausstattung, sehr sauber. Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter hervorragend. Sehr günstig gelegen für Ausflüge und Wanderungen, mehrere Pubs/Restaurants und kleiner Supermarkt im Ort - es fehlt an nichts!!! Uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen!

Tideswell TOTS

Excellent Location, within walking distance of 2 bakeries, numerous eateries, the Co-op and a delightful second-hand bookshop. Beautifully clean and all the furnishings were of the highest quality, there was absolutely everything you need. TOTS even has a small but perfectly formed courtyard for you to watch the world go by as you drink your morning coffee. Would revisit in a flash!

New year at the old toffee shop

Really relaxing holiday over new year 2019/2020. Property was close to shops and pubs in a lovely village and close for fantastic walks in the Peaks.

Thank you for leaving us a 5 star review . We are so glad you were comfortable & able to relax at our '2nd home'. The village of Tideswell is unique in that it has almost everything you could need in the way of facilities, including access to the some spectacular walks right from our courtyard gate. Should you decide to return to TOTS again please note you will automatically be offered a 10% discount as a valued return guest.

Amazing festive experience!!!

We stayed here over Christmas and Julie & Nigel went to every effort to make our stay personalised and cosy We loved the use of the multi fuel stove and basically hibernated!! We found all of the facilities in the cottage to be of a high spec and had everything we needed Would definitely recommend and stay again Thank you so much From the O’connor family

Fantastic cottage and location

We loved staying at The Old Toffee Shop. Everything you could possibly need is catered for at the cottage and the quality of furnishing and comfort of the rooms is exceptional. Location is great and there are some lovely restaurants and coffee shop within walking distance. We had sandwiches and cakes for the Cherry Tree just across the square and also had dinner at the Merchant’s Yard which was delicious. Would thoroughly recommend choosing this accommodation as it has everything and with fantastic comfort, design and quality. Wish we could have stayed longer!!

It looks like you found a couple of the best places to eat. Should you decide to visit us again all return guests are offered a small discount & the longer you stay at TOTS the cheaper it is for you. Beautiful clean cosy cottage

Absolutely beautiful cosy very clean cottage, furnished to a high standard, with everything thought of and included. Bottle of wine and cake upon arrival, comfy robes, amazing beds. Lovely kitchen, living room with a TV for all the channels - plus games, books, magazines and comfy throws next to the log fire. Thank you for a lovely weekend and we look forward to coming back soon.

Thank you Tiffany for your glowing review especially about the comfy beds which took us ages to choose. I have to say I like to indulge in a few monthly magazines & I am glad you were able to get the log fire burning for your stay it does make it feel really cosy. BUT the main point you made which pleases me was that is was clean I will pass on your review to our cleaning team who try very hard to ensure our guests are happy. Take care & thank you again.

Nigel & I have been together for over 25 years and we have travelled quite extensively with Nigel's love of landscape photography behind many of the choices of our destinations. We both strive for perfection in our home & garden but don't quite achieve it due to our lovely little dog black cocker spaniel Lilly, who we adore.

It was just the right size & price for us - great kerb appeal even prior to the renovation & in exactly the perfect location for Nigel to get to his 'remote' spots for sunrise and sunset. The abundance of local shops including pubs & cafes helped seal the deal.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

Large master bedroom with exposed beams but with plenty of headroom. Secure courtyard for toddlers & dogs. Entrance is not direct off the street into the lounge meaning the lounge remains snug and private. Situated on a corner you can watch the world go around and sun shines on the front of the property in the morning and moves round directly into the courtyard in the afternoon & early evening - perfect. Our outdoor heated Boot Room doubles as a Doggie Wet Room complete with its own electric shower.
