A Perfect Northern Get-Away On The Scenic Big Creek In Luzerne


This is a very clean, warm, cozy and relaxing 2 bedroom retro cabin located within the Huron National Forest on the crystal clear Big Creek, a main tributary to the Ausable River. You will be pleased to find a host of basic amenities. This is the perfect place to unplug from your busy life and enjoy watching the various wildlife and many bird species, reading a book & dining in the screened porch while watching and listening to the river, not to mention the starry night campfires. Your stay can include many outdoor activities, such as: visiting the large neighboring Amish community with their tidy farms and unique stores, fishing, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, ATV riding, hiking, scenic overlooks and much more. We find that when many of our guests arrive they prefer to just stay and enjoy the very unique, quiet and natural surroundings.

This Cabin is an Adult Only Rental. Limit of 4 guests. We welcome 2 night minimum stays, weekly rentals and 3 night minimum stays on Holiday weekends.

* One of our main goals is to keep guests costs at a minimum. We do not charge a cleaning fee and you will not see a " Host Fee" when you finalize your booking. For everyone's convenience fiberoptic wifi is available. We are located in a River Valley so cell signals can vary. There is a Verizon Cell tower in our Village of Luzerne. We provide an up to date T.V. and D.V.D. player so bring your favorite movies and connectivity devices along. The T.V. does bring in some local channels.

Winter months require a 4 Wheel or All Wheel Drive Vehicle to maneuver our driveway.

- We are located in Oscoda County within the Huron National Forest and the Ausable River Valley.

-We are currently the 6th least populated county in the state, this includes the U.P. Counties.

Perfect place to relax and enjoy a private, quiet, & peaceful get away. Close to Mio for kayaking, Amish country and the best pizza at Mio Pizza Shop. Fully equipped & comfortable cabin. Great hosts also. This was our third trip back.

Book this rental! This was the perfect getaway. Super friendly hosts, great communication, super clean cabin and perfect location. Absolutely loved having Big Creek in the back yard. We loved it so much that we decided to stop sightseeing and just hang out at the cabin. My brother has requested this link and I will be back.

Beautiful property right on the river. We had everything we needed to have a great stay. Cabin was extremely clean and tidy. Owner communication was excellent. We had a wonderful weekend and will certainly return in the future.

Overall, we had a great stay. The property is very peaceful and we met the host and he seemed very nice. The house was very clean and we enjoyed being out in nature. Great place to stay!

The place was immaculate we worked hard to make sure it was left as it was found. Listening to the water was so peaceful the beds were comfortable and the property is well kept. Really don’t have any complaints the only thing I did not care for is being asked to take trash with us. I don’t like putting bags of trash in my vehicle I would have gladly left the cost for the disposal of my two bags of trash but aside from that minor inconvenience the stay was perfect.

Very nice cabin and beautiful setting. The cabin was clean and cool upon arrival. The kitchen was amply supplied. The couches and bed were not comfortable - I'd give them a 2 out of 5 rating. The hot water was not adequate - ran out after only one shower, had to wait 45 minutes to be hot enough for a second shower. Still, we enjoyed our stay very much, not sure we'd return.

If you are looking for a peaceful setting, this is the place! Either from the yard swing, dock, or screened in porch, the sound of Big Creek melts away the stress of the world. The cabin has everything you need to cook meals on site either in the kitchen, on the grill, or old fashioned packets on the bonfire.The beds are comfortable, the living room has lots of space for family game night, and games stocked to get you through a rainy day.We saw two kinds of ducks and so many songs birds we couldn't keep track.Seriously, this is the place to go to relax! We'll be back.

We absolutely enjoyed the river setting and cabin ambiance. It’s private, quiet, and surrounded with bird song. The owner helps to flip your thinking from a hotel setting to your own home by having the guest responsible for light cleaning for the next guest. He’s able to reduce the fees and increase the value to the consumer by this method. Doing so is well worth it for the opportunity to stay here. We are grateful the owners are willing to share this cabin with us. We certainly plan to return in the future.

It was a very pleasnet weekend in the peaceful cottage the located on the Luzerne Creek. We had a very good time and hope to go back there next year to catch a trout.

We were given a front row view to the first snow of the year in a breathtaking setting. This cabin had everything we needed and was so cozy as we watched snow falling. The birds visiting the feeder throughout the day were so active! We can't wait to go back for a trip this summer!

We cherish this part of Michigan and all that it has to offer.

My Grandparents purchased their property 3 miles north of Luzerne on the Big Creek way back in 1944. They started building their "Red" Cabin in 1965 ( I was 2 years old ).

My wife Laura and I purchased their Cabin in 1997 and have over the years purchased a few others in the area for the purpose of preservation. All of our properties are somewhat connected and private. We live in one that is centrally located to the rest. We do have 1 exception which is a Cabin on the outskirts of Mio.
Mio is 6 miles away and is the County Seat.
