Enjoy your stay in Oak Park at this prairie architecture themed apartment. It is located in the lower level of a new construction home. As you enter, you will be blown away by the soaring 9-10' ceilings and open & airy layout. Spacious master bedroom with queen bed, dressers and walk-in closet. Second bedroom contains two twin beds.

Living room features a futon style couch for extra sleeping capacity. Five people can be accommodated in the apartment. The heart of the apartment is the vast living room/dining room area. Enjoy meals at the dining room table, which seats eight. Relax in the living room with a flat screen TV with a basic cable package.

Very large eat-in kitchen is fully stocked for all your cooking needs. Stainless steel appliances include a dishwasher, microwave & garbage disposal. Washer & dryer are provided & private parking is available on site. Fresh linens & towels are provided to all guests.

There is both a front and back entrance to the apartment. There is 100% separation between the apartment and the home to which it is connected. Guests enjoy the privacy provided by the accommodations. Complimentary WIFI is provided.

The apartment is located within a mile of the biggest Oak Park tourist attractions. The Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio is four blocks away. Downtown Oak Park is about a half mile away. A 20 minute train ride from downtown Oak Park takes you to everything that downtown Chicago has to offer. Alternatively, you can get to downtown with a quick nine mile drive down the expressway.

No pets, no smoking/vaping and absolutely no parties.

Great rental

My sister and I were in Oak Park to take care of some family matters and we stayed at this rental for a week. It was a great decision. The apartment was comfortable and warm (we were there during a cold spell) and it was easy to make our meals. It was also a great location and we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go. Finally, the host was very responsive and quickly answered any questions we had.

A great home base in Oak Park

This clean and well-located basement apartment was perfect for our 5-day stay to the area to help an elder move. Kitchen has all you need for simple meals. The FLW decor was a nice touch. You’ll hear light foot traffic and a soft-spoken dog occasionally upstairs, but not at all bothersome.

Cozy Getaway with Easy Access to Chicago

Returning to the Chicagoland area after a 38-year hiatus, I along with 2 of my boys were delighted by our stay at this basement apartment in Oak Park. This experience was my first time using VRBO, and it couldn't have been more positive. As someone who grew up in nearby Forest Park, returning to the area and experiencing it from a visitor's perspective was a unique and nostalgic experience. The highlight of the apartment is the vast living room and dining room area, which is perfect for gatherings or simply unwinding after a day of exploring. The dining table seats eight, making it ideal for enjoying meals together. The living room features a flat-screen TV with a basic cable package, offering a cozy spot to relax and watch your favorite shows. Overall, my stay at this VRBO was exceptional, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore Oak Park and Chicago. The combination of thoughtful design, modern amenities, and a prime location made for an unforgettable experience.

Comfortable, quiet, and clean

Beautiful, leafy, and safe Oak Park neighborhood. Great location. Owner thought of everything. Nice selection of books, games, and coffee. Slept well after touring the Chicago area all day.

VERY clean, location was perfect for our family as we wanted to experience using public transportation to get to downtown. 2 minute walk to the nearest bus stop and about 20 minute walk through very nice area to the train (we did both and you can take the bus to the train station too). Neighborhood is lovely. Owner is on site and available via text if there is an issue but there never was. Unit is completely separate from rest of house. We were very pleased.

Perfect accommodations!

The property was wonderful and exactly as described. The kitchen was well stocked and i always appreciate owners who provide coffee filters, salt, pepper, sugar, among other kitchen staples. It makes traveling so much better to have dish detergent as well! I was especially impressed with the special makeup remover washcloths (I travel with makeup remover and cotton balls) but also seeing nice washcloths demonstrates the owner's attention to detail. Beds were very comfortable and we had plenty of space. Five stars. Highly recommend!

Great Place in Oak Park

We loved staying here. It was spacious, well laid out. The furnishings were high quality and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you need. The location is great, easy to reach and walking distance to Oak Park.

Wonderful accommodations!

Traveled to Oak Park, IL to attend niece’s high school graduation. The apartment was spacious, clean and included numerous amenities that made the stay very comfortable. The experience was as advertised and I would highly recommend.

Great fall break!

We had everything we needed for the 5 nights we stayed. The property itself was great, very roomy, clean and comfortable. It was great to have the option of public transportation or use our own car to explore Chicago.

Great location and space for the Family

We loved staying here while helping our kid move into the dorms nearby! The neighborhood is great and it’s close to everything you could want. The apartment is in the basement of the house, but there are high windows letting some daylight in, it’s very spacious, and the owners are right upstairs & very helpful with whatever you need. There is one bathroom but it is conveniently located for all to use, with enough space and towel racks. We really liked all the shelves, dressers, closet space, kitchen cabinet space, etc to put our things in! We look forward to staying here again, thanks Dan and Amy!

Fabulous week in Chicago area

The property location was perfect in a beautiful and safe suburb about 9 miles from downtown Chicago. The neighborhood included Frank Lloyd Wright's former home architecture studio and about 25 of the houses he designed. There was all kinds of shopping and restaurants within a mile of the property, but it was on a quiet residential street. The inside was spacious, modern, comfortable, and beautifully decorated in Frank Lloyd Wright decor and style. We had everything we needed, except a few more wash cloths, but there was a washer and dryer so we could wash anything we needed. If we ever go back to the Chicago area we'll certainly stay there again.

Charming and Comfortable

Having never been in the Chicago area before we were unsure where to stay. This ended up being perfect for us. The neighborhood is safe and has so many great features Frank Lloyd Wright homes, plenty of great dining options, and just about a 20 minute drive to the city. The rental was clean and easily accessible. The hosts have done a great job decorating with lots of Wright style pieces. We loved our stay and if we ever return to the Chicago area we would check this rental first.

This is a great space, convenient to several transportation options and in a beautiful area for safe walking. A bonus is proximity to many Frank Lloyd Wright homes including his own home and studio. Host was helpful and easy to communicate with.

Charming Oak Park Apartment

When we travel we embrace the philosophy of “live like a temporary local.” Our four-nights at The Prairie Apartment brought back all of the wonderful memories we have of living in Oak Park 32 years ago when we were newly married and starting our family. The apartment is situated at the basement level of a beautiful family home in the heart of charming and historic Oak Park. We walked to the Frank Lloyd House and Studio and local restaurants and coffee shops. It was only a 20-minute drive to Chicago for our day in the city, and we did some shopping, and I had a luxurious pedi/mani at the Nordstrom Spa at upscale Oak Brook shopping center (15 minutes away). The owners live upstairs, but they were very quiet, and we were well rested during our stay. Having such a large kitchen and living area was so nice. The owners have stocked the kitchen with everyday essentials. There were plenty of hangers and even dressers for storage. We especially appreciated Dan’s excellent communication. If you like architecture, history and walking in gorgeous Midwestern neighborhoods, we highly recommend this VRBO.

Beautiful Home and Neighborhood

Easy check-in/check out. Property is in a beautiful quiet neighborhood. Felt very safe. Walking distance to many Frank Lloyd Wright homes. Highly recommend touring the area. Near the Green line which will take you all the way to downtown. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Spot

Loved the location- great neighborhood to walk and admire the architecture. Walking distance to numerous shops/restaurants. Quick response when we had a question. Clean and comfortable.
