The Avondale Lower Level

Check out my basement apartment in Irving Park. The property is right off of Addison Street. Free parking and close to the 90/94 expressway. The Addison Blue Line subway is a 10 minute walk.

Basically a rec space, I rent this out at different times of the year as a convenience to those looking for an alternative to hotels and want to live like a local. I am not part of a property management group, but do love accommodating guests.

***This basement unit has low ceilings (not super low, but should be noted)***
***Pets live on the property and next door. Although not excessive, you will hear dogs at times***
***The "back yard" area "is not" available for use.

As your host, I will help with any information you may need to make your stay in Chicago a memorable one. If I'm in town and not working I will be able to greet you upon your arrival. However majority of the time I am away, and will provide instructions on entering the unit.

You have 100% Privacy. You will not be sharing this apartment with any one else.

The unit also has a private entrance that only you will use. Plenty of permit parking available in front of the house. I provide the permits.

Cooking ware provided.

A Smart TV is mounted in the living room. You can choose to stream or use antenna tv. There is no cable tv.

The apartment has a full bathroom and laundry room.

The master bedroom has a king bed, dresser, and closet. The second bedroom is smaller and has a full size bed. The entire space fits 4-5 people.

great weekend in Chicago. apartment was super clean had everything we needed.Our host, Jedidiah was great. super helpful. the apartment is a half mile away from the blue line making O'Hare an easy trip. I only wish I had more time because the place is close to Wrigleyville and I would have loved to check that out. two thumbs up.

Our host was incredibly accommodating, kind, and responsive. The directions were clear, the beds were comfortable, and the towels were soft. Everything was clean and easy to find. We especially liked the little extras, like the parking permits and fans for the bedrooms.

The apartment was in a cute, safe and quiet area with lots of walkable food options. Parking was very easy and passes are provided. Our host was easy to communicate with and quickly made accomodations when asked. We would definitely stay in this unit again when visiting Chicago.

Great location

The host communicated very well before and during our stay. Property very nice, great location too for our baseball extravaganza trip. First time using VRBO and was pleased with the process.

Kitchen was equipped well. Ceilings are very low. If you are tall you want to consider. I am 5’4” and could touch ceiling everywhere with a flat palm standing on n flat feet. Otherwise comfy.

Thank you for staying K! I'm very transparent about the low ceilings in my listing description. You must of missed the exclamation marks prior to making a booking! I'm talller than 5'4" and can not touch all of the ceilings with my palm. However around doorways can be low points. One of the great things about this location is the no hassle free parking and being close to the expressway. Although we have a well stocked kitchen, guests can always request special items such as a crock pot or mixer.

Great Stay!

I enjoyed a weekend stay here for the Chicago Marathon and it was great! The location was on a nice, quiet street, while still being close to stores for anything you need and public transportation (trains & busses). The apartment was clean and had all the necessities and the host was very kind and communicative. Would highly recommend!

This basement apartment which is in the Irving Park neighborhood also borders popular neighborhoods such as Avondale, Lakeview, Roscoe Village, North Center, Old Irving Park and Logan Square. Just a few blocks away from the Revolution Beer Company, Abby Pub, Kumas Corner and Olive Garden. Best yet, a Portillo's restaurant with a Chicago Gangster theme is currently planned to be built one block away!

Public bus and train minutes away. The unit is close to all public transportation. This includes the CTA 152 Addison bus, the Addison Blue Line train station, Metra Train, and Uber or Lyft. The Blue Line brings you to downtown Chicago & O'hare airport. Only a seven minute walk to the Chicago "L" Train, which is the train going into downtown; including the Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park, and Oak Street. The bus is at the end of the block that takes about 10 minutes to Wrigley Field (I'm right off of Addison St). Major expressway very close as well (I-90/I-94). You can get to any part of the city or the Chicago-land area very quickly from this location.

The unit with many imperfections is our personal space that we gladly share with you. Comfy and cozy with exposed pipes this old style is the ambiance of the unit. Its a place to rest after exploring our beautiful neighborhood and city of Chicago. The residence has other apartments and other tenants that live there. There are pets on the premises (not in your apartment) that are very well trained however you may hear them from time-to-time. The ceilings are low but not uncommonly low for a garden apartment. In Chicago a basement apartment is considered a garden apartment. The unit is not close to downtown Chicago, the lake, or the Magnificent Mile but very much in the City of Chicago. The subway and bus that will take you to these attractions are very close. Please look where this location sits on a map of the city.
