Convenient Hideaway

This property is hidden in a quiet, wooded valley just a short drive from Steamboat. The house is clean, the neighbors are friendly, and it is a great place to let you enjoy the area. There aren't very many places like this one which has both convenience and privacy. Enjoy your stay.

Rabbit Ears Pass Retreat

We enjoyed our stay here! Host was responsive and the views are lovely (especially with the fall leaf changes). Just know the bedrooms share a door that go into each other so if sound between bedrooms is an issue, something to keep in mind. No stove so prepare to only heat up small meals in the toaster oven or microwave. There is a nice outdoor space with fireplace and room for my pup to run. Overall loved our stay.

Great location, fun house

The house has a unique, fun layout. Lots of stairs. The piano and pool table were big hits. Close to town and the reservoir but nicely separate from the summertime traffic. Quiet. Lots of wildlife in the area, including bears. The hosts were very easy to communicate with, quick to respond, and helpful. The house is nicely outfitted with everything one may need.

Don’t book if you cook

The place is an a lovely location but is really not worth the money. It is very rustic and faeries niceties like 1960s pilled afghans. It has the tiniest “kitchenette” I have ever seen. You have to decide weather you want to use the cook top, or the toaster iven because they don’t both fit on the counter. There is a lot of extra useless furniture in the place but no dresser or real closet. If they want to charge heat they are, they need to upgrade the furnishings. In addition , it’s managed by ITrip which was less than helpful during our stay. There was no on in the place the day before we were to check in and they would not allow us to check in before the 4:00 official time for no apparent reason. So we hung around steamboat in the drizzling rain and wanted until it started to turn to turn dark and icy before we could check in. They have out soap and towels in the place but there was a broom, dustpan, or vacuum. Yeah don’t drop anything in the floor. they also couldn’t tell us where the dumpster was. I will avoid ITrip on our next trip to Steambait.

We are sorry to hear your frustration. Unfortunately, our staff along with the rest of Steamboat was very understaffed due to the rise in COVID cases therefor the unit was being cleaned the day of arrival which resulted in us not being able to allow an early check in. We usually do everything we can to accommodate but it was not possible this time. We also wanted to make sure to get the requested convection oven to the unit for you. It was disappointing you did not mention that we did that for you even though we clearly note on the listing there is no full kitchen. The listing and photos accurately depict the property and what it offers and we have had many happy guests at this fantastic and unique location .We will be sure to investigate the missing broom/vacuum.

Great time

I had a great stay with my son and his girlfriend. The unit is everything you would expect of a mountain retreat. Except the kitchen. There isnt one. There is a small wet bar area, which looks much bigger in the photo. We were able to manage bbq’s.

Odd layout, but great stay

So, the kitchen is small and the layout is really odd. But the owners are right next door and they are great people. That and the cup de sac is full of good peeps. Great spot for dogs, the other dogs in the street are friendly and all came out to meet our pups.

Great Hospitality

The property owner was very helpful and considerate. Great location if you want to be outside the bustle and hustle of mountain village. Peaceful and relaxing.

Nice place

It was a nice place, and location outside of town was good. There did not feel to be much privacy because you could hear the people upstairs talking and moving around. The kitchen was small, but workable.

Awesome owners!

We enjoyed our time while we were there and was able to get to know the owners and talk with them. Check in was easy and communication throughout the stay was great! I would stay here again for sure!

Paradise on Rabbit Ear Pass

Property was exactly as advertised, very comfortable place that met all our needs. Owners were very nice and friendly. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location - beautiful setting

Happy to be 10 minutes from Steamboat. Rustic cabin feel- large space, great king bed. Renters must be able to manage stairs. Laundry and mountains views are pluses

Steamboat stay

Great location to visit Steamboat and surrounding areas. The foliage was turning and the fly-fishing was spectacular. Property was beautiful with great views. Lots of steps so be ready to climb a bit.

Perfect location!

Conveniently located just 4 mi from the main town of Steamboat Springs, this house was in the perfect to be close, yet not directly in the center of the hustle and bustle so you had quiet. There was plenty of space for the two of us and our dog. The unit was well equipped with everything we needed and decorated nicely. We especially loved all of the floor to ceiling windows that this space had. We would definitely stay here again!

Generally good, but…

First, the good. The property location is great. 10-15 min from downtown Steamboat. The communication w the owner and prop manager was generally good. Check in process was easy. Internet and cable were good and reliable. Owner was willing to share things to do in the area. Nice guy for sure. Now for the not so good. The unit itself was clean, but the side yard had the owner’s dogs old chewed up toys all over and quite a bit of dog hair on the outdoor furniture. Didn’t really spend a lot of time out there as a result. We understood at the outset that the owners lived up stairs. We did not expect to have much interaction with the owners though. The owner was in the unit when we got there (although we did arrive about 15 min early, so not their fault) and asked to access the unit twice after we arrived, once to get laundry and again the following day to get some tools. Not a huge deal, but still not something I would expect, especially in a small space in the covid era. They also knew we had a 1 yr old. Like any 1 yr old, she goes to sleep early (7-8PM) and takes a nap or two during the day. The property description says barking dogs aren’t welcome, but I guess that doesn’t apply to their own dogs. Both of their dogs barked for about 2 hours between 8-10PM on our second night. They also sounded like they were doing some renovation work upstairs during the day. Figured that could have waited until there aren’t paying guests directly below. Not a negative necessarily, but just know there are a few sets of short stairs in the unit. Gotta keep a close eye on your little ones if you have any. Overall, generally clean and decent place to stay. Just would have preferred less interaction with the owner and a quieter experience.

We are happy to hear you liked the location, internet, owner and some other aspects. We were sorry to hear about the noise and other stuff you mention, I think there was some miscommunication and as you mention, he thought he had til 4 pm to get out. After reading your review the owner has replaced the furniture with metal furniture that will not collect dog hair. He did want to note the dogs were barking that evening due to a Bear in the area. Being in the woods, that can happen but we have not heard other complaints about the dogs barking.

Great opportunity to bring families together

Fabulous vacation home in Steamboat. Close to hill but not too close. House had all needed amenities. We shared great stories of the day around the dining room table. Fun history and to share a space once visited by Billy Jean King.

Cozy getaway!

Incredibly easy check in/check out. Cozy house, perfect location. Great winter getaway. Absolutely beautiful views out every window. The beds were INSANELY comfortable and the bedding was top notch. I HIGHLY recommend this rental for your next family vacation.

Excellent Property with Fantastic Views!

We stayed for 3 nights July 3-6. This property is very large and the views are incredible. We had 3 couples plus dogs and everyone had their own bathroom and bedroom. The kitchen is large and well stocked. The common areas are also big and everyone enjoyed socializing there. The drive into Steamboat is very scenic. We did not see any bears or other wildlife. It is a wonderful place and everyone was very happy with our rental.

Great for wildlife!

A great property for seeing wildlife- there is a bear that likes to visit the windows! If you have dogs, be careful! We found moth balls kept him away. The internet here is not great. It was out most of the time so we used a lot of cell phone data ☹️ The kitchen intensive etc were definitely clean which doesn’t happen everywhere!

Fantastic Property with Incredible Views

We stayed for 3 nights July 3-6. This property is very large and the views are incredible. We had 3 couples plus dogs and everyone had their own bathroom and bedroom. The kitchen is large and well stocked. The common areas are also big and everyone enjoyed socializing there. The drive into Steamboat is very scenic. We did not see any bears or other wildlife. It is a wonderful place and everyone was very happy with our rental.

A must! Awesome views and Area!

This is a outstanding property! The three levels in the house allow unlimited viewing of the beautiful snow and mountains. The house is cozy and has a great environment for family’s or groups enjoying the area. The history of the house is great, and it provides entertainment, games, pool table, and a large area to play in the snow and close to hiking and snowshoeing. Only 6 minutes out of town, and it has a perfect location close to Rabbit Ears Pass and the Continental Divide.
