We enjoyed our stay, the area was very peaceful while also being close to Great Barrington and other places. The only downside was our area of lake was too weedy to swim but was great for kayaking.

The location was outstanding. Pictured didn’t do the location justice for just how beautiful the setting and views are of the lake. The home was cozy and inviting with a quirky layout that suited our multi generational family just perfectly. There were indoor and outdoor toys for the grandkids who are 2.5. There were ample outdoor activities and water vessels to fish and tour the lake. It was serene and peaceful and just what we needed for an extended weekend away. We vacationed with our children and their children and our parents and all were enamored with the location and the views and the sheer beauty the location held. The hosts were responsive and welcoming and we can’t wait to come back again - spring summer or fall it’s a gem of a rental!!

Perfect lake house for the long weekend. Plenty of space to sleep and you can’t beat waking up to watch the sunrise over the mountains.

We had a wonderful stay at this lake house! The view of the lake was absolutely incredible — peaceful and beautiful at any time of day. The house itself was very nice, clean, and comfortable, with everything we needed to feel right at home. It was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the scenery. We would definitely love to come back!

Lake house

Great location, very quiet. Felt more like a camp site. Fire pit, paddle boats and kayak were fun. Enjoyed some fishing too. House is old but quaint. Back deck could be cleaned up but i guess that is lake living. Had a great time and reasonably priced.

House Needs Attention

The house is not in good shape. It needs updates throughout -- including furnishing, pots and pans, lighting, towels, and linens. We arrived to a very musty smell - which improved, but it was pretty unpleasant. The lake is very pretty.

Beautiful setting!

The house was perfectly situated on the lake. It had areas that I could close the gates, deck/yard, to keep in or out my 3yr old grandson and our dog. It made for a very relaxing time for all of us. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. There were plenty of toys to keep my grandson occupied! My 15 yr old granddaughter loved fishing off the deck and the dock. The host was very available and helpful. The grocery store was a short drive away! I will definatly book this house again next year! ............. ggrandson an the dog.

Great location. House needs work.

We understood from the VRBO listing that this would be a lake side cottage and not a modern palatial home. However, we found big contrasts. The deck is right at the lake shore and dock and is outstanding, the screened in porch was very nice. Beyond that, the house needs help. The listing could have made it clearer that there is not dishwasher or laundry. Several lamps needed to be replaced, and the kitchen is small with limited work space. We had a lovely week, mainly on the deck, but several minor upgrades and improvements would be helpful.

Right on the water

This rustic property is in a wonderful location along a wooded dirt road, with a deck literally overlooking the water. The sunroom with the dining table and futon is the best part of the house! The view will definitely bring the blood pressure down. The owner was great to work with and very responsive. The kitchen is well stocked with items needed for meal prep, but keep in mind there is no dishwasher. The water toys were all in great shape and easily set into the water from the dock or steps (once the dock is removed for the winter). The outdoor shower is *heaven* and there is plenty of outdoor seating for a larger group. There is even a retractable fence at the steps of the deck to keep little ones (or pets) safely on the deck. The bedroom configuration is a bit unexpected, in keeping with the multigenerational aspect of the house. The two white wall bedrooms have their own bathrooms (one is full and one is half). The third (full) bathroom is in a tiny hall between the king room and the wood paneled queen room and is the only one with a tub. The bathrooms are small but functional, and I mention their locations as it may help others decide if this house works for them or not. Finally, be aware that there are neighbors on each side of the house, but during our stay none were present so we enjoyed the quiet.

A beautiful spot to just be!

This property is so special! It sits literally next to the lake shore. The calming views reduced our blood pressure and the lake activities - kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, floating - were relaxing and fun. Plenty of room for many with 3 bathrooms! We enjoyed the getaway and we were grateful the property is on VRBO! Recommend for family gatherings or good friends who want to make memories.

Great family reunion place!

Great place for family reunion! My wife and I and 3 kids with their spouses and an infant with dog all fit comfortably in the 4 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. The fenced in yard was key. Outside deck and enclosed porch were right on the water with spectacular views of lake and Berkshires. 20 minutes to Stockbridge for shopping and restaurants! Only slight negative was a lot of seaweed when swimming due to the shallow water, but otherwise very clean lake.

Absolute Perfection

Spectacular lake house has everything you could possibly want in a rental! Great for all water related activities, excellent setup for our dog with roomy fenced in yard. The house itself was immaculate with stunning views of Lake Buel from the windowed porch or spacious deck. Owner David was easily available if needed.

Amazing View

Our group had a great time at this house! The location right on the water is fantastic and waking up on the lake was the best part. Overall our stay was very enjoyable. We did not have any issues with our stay, it is an older cabin so it does have its quirks but nothing that would prevent me from staying here again.

Great location.

The description did not include the fact that linens and towels were not provided. The tv reception was lacking to say the least. But the location is absolutely beautiful. You can't get any closer to the lake. There is also no central heating but there are electric heat units. Kitchen is fully stocked. A grill and fire pit are on the deck. Plenty of chairs outside as well.

Delightful lake getaway

This property has a lot of character and a great location. The lake is beautiful and perfectly sized for paddling and exploration. The cabin is well stocked and the owner was friendly and accommodating. Great Barrington is close by for supplies and activities. It was a great fall weekend!

Getaway on the lake

The location was fabulous - right on the water. We had fun traveling around on the lake in the paddleboat and the 2-seat kayak. We caught a big fish right off the dock!! (but our line broke so we didn't get a picture). The kitchen was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. The location was close to Lenox and its shops and restaurants. We had a great time and would love to return next summer.

Literally Lake Front

Lake Buel is lovely. The water is clear, clean and infested with milfoil Perfect for boaters, but if you’re a swimmer, you will get an armful of milfoil with every stroke. They are running 1 ‘lake rake’ but didn’t go near enough to our dock to make a dent. We swam anyway. There’s really nothing the property owner can do about that, but just be aware you’ll have to deal with it. If you bring your own boat, be sure you scrub every millimeter of it before you put it back in another body of water. Don’t spread that stuff!

Beautiful Sunsets on Lake Buel

We have stayed at this cottage several times and just love it! Plenty of room inside and out and very comfortable. Big fenced in yard for kids and for the dogs. The view of the lake is incredible. Just step outside and you have kayaking, swimming, boating and fishing. Beautiful sunsets and the stars at night are amazing. Big deck for relaxing and grilling. Restaurants and shopping are just a short ride into Great Barrington. Looking forward to our next stay.

Lake Buel wonderful cottage

We enjoyed our week long stay at this wonderful lakefront cottage very much. There is plenty of room both inside and outside, and the view of the lake and the surrounding hills is spectacular. The yard is fenced in for pets or young children, and the house is well stocked and comfortable. It's central location is convenient to everything the Berkshires have to offer.

Magical cottage on the lake. Outdoor paradise.

We stayed at this cottage for a long weekend in June. We were transformed to another world. It is an outdoor paradise. Any stress or tension totally melted away when we sat on the deck, overlooking the expansive lake with the mountain ridges in the background. Swimming and boating in the pristine lake is easily accessed from the dock along side the deck. The incomparable trails and roads for jogging and biking are just outside the door. The cottage is roomy and rustic. It is clean, basic and, comfortable. The proximity to all of the attractions in Berkshire area was terrific. Our kids had a blast and can not wait to go back.

Perfect spot in the Berkshires!

My family has stayed at this cozy property multiple times. We have popped in for a quiet long weekend and we have stayed with all 5 of our teenagers for a week. My husband and I stayed and enjoyed the local restaurants and quiet coffee mornings over looking the lake. When we stayed with the kids everyone stayed busy with hiking, biking and enjoying all the lake had to offer. Multiple bathrooms and comfortable beds made for an easy stay with our large group. Mornings were made special by the daily arrival of an eagle. Could you ask for more !
