Cousins Cottage is an adorable 3 bedroom cottage located on the lake in small town Manteno. Pure relaxation - you can enjoy fishing, swimming and a local beach. Within walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants, gym, grocery store, parks and walking path. We are located on I-57 close to ONU, Bourbonnais , Bradley, Kankakee & Peotone and just a 45 minute drive from Chicago's Magnificent Mile.

Wonderful lake house!!! I could have not found a better place to stay! This house had everything you need, clean, near everything in town and lots in walking distance! Most gracious hosts and so helpful! Bring on the lake was so relaxing and enjoyable, I didn’t want to leave!! I recommend cousins cottage to everyone and am so thankful I came across it!!!

This was a perfect place for our daughter’s graduation weekend from Olivet. The entire family enjoyed the fishing and the relaxing atmosphere. Plenty of room to celebrate the occasion. Neighbors invited us to fish off there dock too. Downtown is beautiful. We enjoyed the Mexican restaurant, PJ’s ice cream and The Well coffee shop. Also enjoyed the Manteno Nazarene church service.

Our plan was a get away for some R & R and Cousins Cottage was the perfect place to do it! From watching movies on TV to the fabulous fishing just out the back door, it was great! Everything was clean and decorated just lovely! We briefly met Annette when we arrived, and she brought home made banana bread for us. It was amazing and perfect with our coffee at breakfast! There is a grocery store in town and Walmart and Aldi are just a short drive away. Downtown Manteno is walkable from the house and it’s very cute! We plan to book Cousins Cottage again when we can get away for a few days. I’m in Florida so I’d love to go and see snow! Thank you Annette for everything! We will see you again!

Wonderful weekend

In town for ONU graduation and it was a perfect retreat with all of the busyness of the weekend. The banana bread was a thoughtful added touch of ‘welcome.’

Welcoming

When we first arrived, it felt very welcoming and very cozy. The rooms were very nice and the banana nut bread was phenomenal I will say! my friends and I had a great time staying.

Kayaking Vacation

This charming little cottage on the lake makes a great home base for all the wonderful activities and towns around Manteno. It is also a great place to hang out with great fishing and a lovely fire pit with a beautiful view of the lake. This is our 3rd summer staying here and it always feels like home thanks to Rondy and Annette!

Great Grandmas 95 Birthday

It was perfect place to catch up with my mother and sister from Florida. The place was very clean and had that at home comfortable feel. Would love to book it again next year.

Second stay was even better than the first!

We had a great time during our stay! The property was clean and well stocked. Everything we needed was available. Fishing right in the backyard was a blast and my children loved it. This is the second time we have stayed here, and would absolutely stay again.

Clean & peaceful

Quaint property in a small peaceful town. Property was clean and the listing description was accurate. View of the lake in the backyard was very peaceful and soothing. And less than an hour away from the big city. Definitely will rent again the next time we are up this way!

COZY COTTAGE

This is our second time staying at the cottage. We enjoyed being so close to downtown and took advantage of walking downtown to the RECHARGE COFFEE BAR. Loved being there! Thank you. Owners are great!!

Beautiful, quiet fishing

The weekend was perfect. We were able to have a nice fire the first night, the fish were biting, and the house was a perfect size for everyone to have their own space but also be comfy together. Thank you again!

Perfect for Family Time!

Instead of staying at hotel, we opted to stay a VRBO. The Cousin's Cottage was perfect for our family. We could still participate in the Family Weekend HOCO events at Olivet but then spend our evenings together, around a table, playing games and relaxing, grilling out. We took advantage of a nice morning, sitting by the lake drinking our coffee. It was very enjoyable. There were plenty of beds for all our family members and we all got a good nights sleep!

We have lived in Manteno all of our lives. Annette grew up on Lakeview Drive and knows the area and the lake very well. She spent her summers as a lifeguard when she was in high school. Rondy worked at his dad's gas station on Main Street. in fact, Rondy and Annette met at the gas station when she was 16 and he was 19. She pulled in to the pump to get gas for the first time after getting her driver's license. Rondy was working that day! There was an instant attraction between them. They broke up with the people they were going with and started dating. The rest is history!

Cousins Cottage is named for Annette's cousins who also lived on the lake at 71 W 5th. The cousins used to play in the backyard together. When their family moved to the other side of town the house was sold. Forty years later, when the house went up for sale, Rondy and Annette decided to purchase it and have been renting it out since.

Fishing is fun on Lake Manteno. Paddleboats are even more fun! You will enjoy the beauty of nature and all the wildllife you'll see. We have ducks, geese, turtles, frogs, lots of fish, many different kinds of birds including heron and hawks. Rabbits and squirrels love it here too!
