When I retired, I was a part-owner of an Engineering and IT firm. In 2005, I purchased this property because of its spacious, manicured five-acre estate and the unique 2,000-square-foot building shell at the back of the property. I designed this building with multiple purposes in mind: initially as a workspace for my engineering firm, featuring a large entryway, four office rooms, a full kitchen, and a full bathroom.

As my company grew, we eventually moved to a larger space. I transformed the building into a comfortable home for my mother. Later, when her health declined, I repurposed it for visiting family and friends. I also opened it up on VRBO and Airbnb to share its charm with travelers, and I’ve loved welcoming guests from around the world. I look forward to hosting you and making your stay memorable!

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

I chose this neighborhood because of its peaceful, scenic setting. It offers a perfect blend of tranquility and convenience, with beautiful natural surroundings. I loved how it felt like a retreat from the hustle and bustle, yet still close enough to local amenities and attractions.

Our scenery is characterized by lush greenery, mature trees, and well-maintained homes that give it a warm, welcoming vibe. It’s a place where I feel relaxed and inspired, and I love the sense of peace it brings. Whether it's watching wildlife or enjoying a sunset, this neighborhood has a special charm that makes it a wonderful place to live.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

What sets my property apart is its special combination of thoughtful design, and the peaceful natural surroundings of a spacious five-acre estate. Our home serves multiple purposes — from a workspace to a cozy guest cottage — providing a flexible and comfortable space for visitors.

One of the most unique features is the opportunity to enhance your stay with an on-site massage in the charming Cottage at Elmer Derr. Instead of the hassle of finding a Maryland-licensed and certified massage therapist in Frederick, you can enjoy the convenience of having a professional come right to the cottage. Our licensed massage therapist has 16 years of experience and offers a range of services including myofascial, Swedish, deep tissue, lymphatic drainage, and aromatherapy tailored to your needs. Each session is designed to help you relax and unwind — all at $100 for 60 minutes.

Additionally, we have a year-round spa that’s heated to the perfect temperature, so you can enjoy a relaxing soak whenever you like, regardless of the weather.

The natural beauty of the surroundings, combined with these amenities and the opportunity for pampering, makes this property a truly special place to stay.
