What a lovely place to stay! I was so sad to leave. The cottage is absolutely adorable. The property is beautiful and the surrounding area has lots to do. The hosts were very nice and helpful as well.

Nice cozy place off in the woods by itself. Nice get away from town and other people. Really enjoyed our stay here and town isn’t far if any necessities are needed. Me and my son stayed here to go watch the Budds Creek Nationals MX Race.

As advertised, the cabin is a cozy getaway perfect for a couple looking for peace and quiet. There was a Nor'easter off the Atlantic coast but we did not care! We never did use the kayaks because of the weather but that was no big deal. Nice place to relax, read, enjoy the woods. Perfect weekend.

Conveniently located for visiting area attractions. Quiet, peaceful setting in the woods. Hosts communicated promptly. Twin beds/pillows in loft were very comfortable.

We stayed at the Hilltop cottage the first week of October, and we loved every minute of our stay. It took us only an hour and a half to get there, and we found ourselves in a different world in the middle of a forest with beautiful views of St. Leonard Creek. The cottage was very cosy, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The weather was perfect, and we spent most of our time kayaking and fishing. There are lots of stores just 10 minutes away, which was very convenient. Special thanks to our wonderful hosts, Kent and Nancy, who were ready to help with any issue, making our little vacation even more enjoyable.  We would definitely love to visit that cottage again in the future.

Very clean and adorable cottage with facts and artifacts from history and the area. Extremely roomy but still staying cozy. Even while being in the woods it had all the amenities one would need while staying somewhere away from home. If I had to add downsides it does have hard water as is typical of the area and personally I dislike that. The AC works decently for the size of the cottage but at times it felt a bit stuffy/ opening windows fixes that issue. The views from the area were breathtaking. The owners and caretaker were extremely nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Getaway

My Dad and I came here to relax and fish. It was the perfect place to do that. The owners were wonderful and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Would stay here again in a second!

We loved our 4 night stay at Nancy & Kent's cottage along the River/bay (known as St Leonard Creek)! We enjoyed spending afternoons visiting nearby attractions, and then coming back to quiet cabin to make dinner in the kitchen (and especially on the outdoor BBQ). The cabin has wonderful privacy, 100 yards from their main house, and is situated atop a hill along beautiful grounds. Daytime activities included: 1 daytime visit to Solomon's Island, and an earby brewery there. 1 daytime visit to St Mary's (and the historic village circa 1630's there), and a wonderful restaurant 10 minutes further up the shoreline (towards the Point). 1 Sunday morning (our last) kayaking the St Lawrence Creek - the sky was overcast which was perfect, and the 3/8 mile wide creek was peaceful, with wonderful wildlife (herons, blue crabs, an eagle). Note: The bedroom / upstairs loft of the cabin has a low ceiling; I'm 6'3" , but managed okay. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay, and would wholeheartedly recommend it to others! We hope to come back next time we are in the state.

great peaceful cabin close to everything

The cabin was teh perfect get away location. It's set in a picturesque wooded setting that seems off the beaten path but really isn't. I was pleasantly surprised at how close everything was to the cabin. The cabin is the perfect size for 1 or 2 people and the location is perfect for a relaxing and peaceful get away. Thanks for a wonderful stay, Nancy!

Perfect Getaway!

This cozy cabin is the perfect place to get away and unwind. It had everything we needed for our three nights stay. The beds upstairs were very comfortable. There were coffee, bottled water, and snacks available on our arrival. The Hosts were very responsive to questions and very helpful. The cabin was clean and tidy. We liked the privacy of this location. There was a wonderful view of the river, with a path that takes you right down to the river's edge. I would highly recommend this place!

Great but items to note…

The overall trip and stay were wonderful. It was perfect for my friends to have a quiet get away. My only issue was that were items not mentioned in the listing that were important and a few mislabeled descriptions. 1. There only a 5gallon hot water tank. With 3 people, we had to be strategic in our showers. 2. There is no oven. Amenities Listing stated “oven” and later “toaster oven” which I didn’t catch3. The wood burning stove is no longer usableAll that said, the cottage is quaint and quiet. Perfect for a relaxing time away and I would stay again

Fantastic week!

We came to this lovely cabin for a week long "working" getaway. What a wonderful place, quiet, beautiful, peaceful and rejuvenating! Perfect for what we were looking for! Everything you need for a getaway. Perfect hosts, wonderful surroundings and many things to do and see around town or even just sitting in on the front porch doing nothing. Really enjoyed our stay!

A peaceful stay on a beautiful property.

Hilltop Cottage is a lovely retreat in a beautiful area in Calvert County, Southern MD. It is located on a heavily wooded site uphill from the main house along a wide expanse of the Patuxent River. The cottage is well appointed and cozy. It is perfect for two people. The loft sleeping area is a little tight and we did hit our heads on the ceiling a few times. WiFi was good. Couldn’t get the TV to work, but we enjoyed the sounds of birds and the trees rustling, so it wasn’t a big deal. It’s very close to Solomons Island, Jefferson Patterson Park, Calvert Cliffs and other local attractions. Enjoyed hiking in The American Chestnut Land Trust area. Nancy and Kent were gracious hosts and we enjoyed speaking with them while sitting outside along the river near their home. Gorgeous views from a bluff. They offer the use of a single person kayak. We definitely hope to return.
