Home from home retreat

Cottage was very charming with a lot of history to it. Comfortable and cosy, close to all amenities plus the beautiful Kent coast.

Cosy and peaceful.

A lovely cottage set in the open country, but yet very convenient to take advantage of all that the Thanet area has to offer. Comfortable and cosy, great for a break away. Owner very helpful and friendly.

Really lovely property. Suzanne was very welcoming with some great knowledge to help us with our stay. Particularly enjoyed the local pub, on Suzanne's recommendation .Sofa bed in the living room was very comfortable! Spacious and homely. Would defo go back.Thanks again x

Manston holiday

A well appointed pretty cottage in a great central location for exploring Thanet and the East of Kent. Very comfortable and peaceful. We had a great week with lots of places to visit without having to travel too far. The owners were very helpful and the booking and arrangements all went smoothly.

A Very Enjoyable Week In Thanet

Annie's Cottage was a delightful property to stay in as we toured the Thanet area. Extremely comfortable, clean, well equipped and very quiet. Suzanne and George, the owners, made us feel very welcome and it proved an ideal base to visit the resorts of Margate, Ramsgate, Deal, Broadstairs, Whitstable and Birchington and also delightful and historic towns and cities such as Rochester and Sandwich - all of these an easy drive from the cottage. We'd certainly stay there again.

I love that, a lady of few words but good ones, thank you! I did have to laugh as my husband said that when you left you said you had had a good time but you were going somewhere better! He thought that was a little unusual until you the said that you were off to go on a cruise! Yes, I do believe a cruise would be even better and I hope you both have a fantastic time. And thank you, we do like to leave our guests to enjoy their stay in peace, we are there if you need us but other than that we will leave you to enjoy your stay, so it's great to know that you liked that. And thank you for the tin of chocolates and the lovely note. The chocolates have now disappeared once the children found them, but thank you for the ones I did get to enjoy, and I am sure the kids would like to thank you too!

Thank you for taking the time to do the star rating. It's the first 3 star we have ever had. We welcome constructive feed back, so to know what you were underwhelmed by would be helpful, as nothing specific is mentioned, and you didn't mention anything at the time although we live on site. Was it the cottage which has a 4 star quality rating from Visit England, or was it the area? Happy to engage with you so that we can rectify anything that it within our power to do so for future guests.

The Perfect Place

I rented Annie’s Cottage as I needed a peaceful place to work. Not only did it exceed my expectations, it was fabulous! The hosts Suzanne and George were so incredibly welcoming and friendly. Never intrusive, but there should you have any problems ( I didn’t. Everything was great.) I was sorry to leave. The house, and nearby surroundings, have such a lovely vibe. I will DEFINITELY be returning. In fact, I can’t wait to! So, thank - you Suzanne and George for making my stay so productive. I couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. A perfect place, for sure.

A lovely little gem!!

What a beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. Right next to Manston airport with all the RAF & Spitfire history to enjoy. A short drive from so many amenities and ever such easy access to the coast of Kent.The cottage has so much history and the pictures do not do it justice. The living room is much bigger than we expected! The cottage is in a beautiful little quiet courtyard with an easy drive round circle to get through the access archway. The turn in from the road is a little hidden but the host has installed multicoloured lights to help late arrivals find the opening easily. She also called us with very detailed directions and descriptions so we could find the cottage easily, which was really helpful.We were staying in the depth of winter and the cottage heating system did the job of keeping us warm very nicely. The bathroom is modern with plenty of hot water at all times. The kitchen was perfectly adequate for 2 people's needs and the oven cooked evenly and at the temperature we expected (sometimes it's hit and miss in cottages!) but it would be good if an additional oven shelf could be put in I think. One shelf was a bit of a juggle.We loved our stay at this cottage with the ever so warm welcome, wonderful information about the local area and the absolute peace and quiet of the location.I had to work from the cottage for half a day and the WiFi did not let me down, which was great.Highly recommend this accommodation. Simply lovely.

Lovely relaxing stay

We loved the location for both the coast and Canterbury. We are keen cooks and brought all our ingredients with us so can’t comment on local restaurants but the well-equipped kitchen is tiny, which made prepping food and elaborate cooking challenging. The cottage is sweet and perfect for a couple.

Thank you for your feedback. Annie's Cottage does have great character and is sweet as you kindly say, and you're right the kitchen isn't enormous. And thank you, we do try to provide everything that we can think of that guests would find useful to cook there, so good for you for trying. It sounds like you enjoyed staying there which is lovely. Hope you have a good 2021 and hopefully we will see you again in the future. You might find Well Cottage which is next to Annie's Cottage easier for cooking, and The Chapel will definitely be large enough and you can even bring the family too! Best wishes to you both ;)

A good rest in secluded property not far from the sea front.

I had the good rest that I wanted. The bed is ultra comfortable and the property is secluded and quiet. Gorgeous house with heritage and character but with all the modern comfort . Amazing coast lines nearby and great walks to be done by the sea. Plenty of fresh food, very kind locals and friendly hosts. It was hard to leave! ❤️

Idyllic location

The property was in a first class condition and location. The owner gave us s warm and friendly welcome. We cannot recommend it highly enough and would certainly revisit

Sejour idéal

Le logement est tel que nous nous y attendions. L'accueil chaleureux et la facilité à correspondre avec le propriétaire mettent immédiatement à l'aise. Séjour calme et environnement parfait avec la proximité des commerces et des plages du Kent. A découvrir absolument.

Sfeervolle cottage, goede locatie

Goede plek om kustplaatsjes en Canterbury te verkennen, dicht bij RAF-museum. Ook Sandwich is een charmant plaatsje. Prettig contact met eigenaar.

Mostly positive

Lovely hostess. Warm welcome. Comfortable cottage with everything I needed. For most people it would probably be quiet enough. The bedroom windows lacked double-glazing and with driveway and cars in front, a light sleeper may not find it quiet enough.

Thank you for taking the time to write that lovely and very honest review. You are quite right, sadly we don't have double glazing as the building dates back to the 12th Century, and also because of the history, it's grade 2 listed so double glazing sadly isn't allowed. Although guests constantly say how quiet it is here, if you suffer from being a very light sleeper, things that most guests don't hear you sadly do. I am so sorry, that must be so frustrating for you. However, it was lovely to meet you and I hope you find somewhere even more quiet for your next visit.
