Great, relaxing, and very well-organized place to stay. Loved the lake with access to a pontoon with a trolling motor, canoes, and kayaks. Fun swimming and good fishing. The hosts were very helpful and kind. Thanks!

It was a nice place to stay and close to Wester'sFamily vineyard and winery where my nephew was married. Had a great time watching the cows, cooking out and walking to the lake.

We had a lovely stay and Maxine and Bruce were kind and helpful when we had questions. We hope to get back there a couple more times this year. And it was a great place to bring dogs!

The location was quite a bit farther away from our reunion than I expected because of all the rural roads. Signing to designate the property could be improved especially at night. Very difficult to see the entrance. Air conditioning stayed really cool. Beds were very comfortable Thanks

Nice Getaway cottage

Loved the private lake and having the electric motor pontoon to get out to the swim platform. Definitely should rent the golf cart to get your gear down to the lake. The kitchen is well stocked.

Family Fishing Celebration

The home was spotless, cozy and had everything needed for a great family vacation. The fishing was great and crystal clear water to swim from swim deck. The owners were very responsive and the cows were so cute. We can't wait to return.

House was very cozy and hosts were great

We needed a place to house family for my son’s wedding. This place was perfect!! Maxine was great and was very accommodating . Fall colors were in bloom. Perfect n cozy spot for what we needed!! I’ll be back to enjoy the water in the summer!

Great country home

We really enjoyed our stay. The owners are so helpful and respond quickly. We enjoyed watching the cows and the one cow who hid her baby so well. He got over onto the property, so we kept an eye on him till they got there. Very relaxing stay.

Beautiful farm country

Nice stay at this country home. King and queen beds comfortable the bunk room not so much. Nice seeing the cows out back. Beautiful country setting.

Thanks for your feedback. I wish you would have contacted us about your discomfort with the bunk beds. We would have figured out a way to help you be more comfortable. I’m not sure who slept in them and found them uncomfortable. They are meant for kiddos. For our future guests, if you have issues, please contact us for resolution. If we can help, we will.

Beautiful setting with the surrounding farmland as your view every morning. The house is well equipped with some lovely extras I have yet to see at other rentals. Highly recommend!!

Getaway and Faster Horses Music Festival

The country cabin was nice. Nice place to stay and relax yet kept us within 30 minutes of the Faster Horses venue. Hosts were great with communication but not over bothersome. We didn’t get to enjoy the other amenities but the pond looked great

Maxine was very kind and very accommodating. We were in town for residency at Spring Arbor University it was nice to “come home” each evening instead of staying in a hotel. We enjoyed our experience.

Great place to stay. The home is the kind of place you feel comfortable to kick off your shoes and put your feet up after a day on the lake or enjoying the campfire. It is very quiet and such a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Watching the cows and their babies is a hoot. Reminded us of our childhood on the farm.We will certainly look into another trip in the future!Thank you Bruce and Maxine for an enjoyable visit.

wonderful setting

The house was very nice and comfortable. Weather was good one day and then high winds and rain. Got to the lake and saw sand hill cranes in the grasses. Could use a few kitchen items like real plates and bowls. Maybe some serving dishes or casserole dish. Perfect for a get away! Would love to come again!

Thanks for taking time to write a review for us. I'm happy to hear you would consider spending time at the cottage again. I will certainly consider and truly appreciate your suggestions. For our future guests planning; there are 2 sets of melamine dishes serving 6 each with very large bowls and a set of mixing bowls that could work for serving dishes. Also 2 casserole dishes bottom right cabinet. I'll post pictures of the inside of the cabinets so you can plan. I do have a set of China I'll bring to the cottage for our guests also. We aim to please and really want you to be comfortable. Looking forward to seeing your group again. Maxine and Bruce

Wonderful Morningstar

Maxine was very helpful and responded quickly to our questions. The cottage is lovely and everything we needed was there. We had toddlers visit and I suggested they might want to add a booster seat or high chair and next thing I knew there was a booster seat delivered to the back door. We had a lovely time!

Cozy and comfortable

Our family enjoyed staying here. Everything you need lots for kids and adults to do. Games, cards, cd,dvd’s, great selection of tv programs too. If you enjoy nature this is the place to be. Seeing the cows as you walk out the back porch in the morning was great. We all enjoyed the fishing, canoeing, swimming and campfires.Maxine and Bruce were personable and attentive to our needs. Even though we didn’t need anything. Thank you for sharing the farm.

Lovely farm setting

It was a lovely farm setting and the hosts were wonderful. It is not a lake house. The lake is quite a long walk with several very heavy gates to lift and move. You absolutely must rent the golf cart. The house itself is in need of some updates/repairs. But again, the farm was pretty and the hosts were great people.

Hello Deb, thanks for your speedy review. For our future guests, I agree, this is not a lake house it is a cottage on a farm with a lake for our guests to enjoy (see pictures and description). It’s in the description that the lake is a walk down a farm lane. The 2 gates mentioned are cattle gates that are used to rotate the cattle to the various pastures. Regarding updates/repairs everything is as pictured on the vrbo site and well maintained, I’m not aware what updates/repairs you feel are needed. Unfortunately, I don’t believe a 3 star review was in order.

Annual family reunion

Every year close to the anniversary of my sisters death, I travel to MI to spend time with my nieces and their growing families. More family members wanted to make the trip this year, but the MI families could not accommodate us all. The Morningstar Cottage was a perfect solution. The hosts graciously allowed us to welcome family & friends to the cottage. My 4 nieces were within 1/2 hour drive of us and we were only 10 minutes from Pleasant Lake Campground where we hosted a large family gathering! It worked wonderfully!
