We had a fun weekend and the cottage was so cute. However the beds were really uncomfortable, there was not enough linens/blankets for all of us. We made the best of it, but the place was a bit dirty, and we decided not to swim or kayak because the beach had a lot of trash and dead fish.

The property outside needed some TLC. The cabin had what we needed inside. The beds were uncomfortable. We could not get to the beach due to a swamp in the lawn. The propery location was good. It was a beautiful view.

Vintage is code for musty

The location is great, host was communicative and check-in was easy. The AC worked well and the hot water was instant. Unfortunately the cabin itself leaves much to be desired. The pullout couch was barely functional (something must be broken), one of the grill burners was out so we couldn't cook everyone's dinner at once, the cookware is ancient and past it's usefulness (the only metal spatula I found was missing a handle - made it work but come on just throw it out already!), the diningroom chairs don't have much support left under the cushions so you just sink into the frame.... spiders everywhere, a few mouse droppings sprinkled about and an overwhelming musty smell... my allergies went into high gear. The sliding door onto the patio has a broken latch or mechanism; once you went out you couldn't get back in and would have to walk around to the side door. My mom and I wanted to deep clean and toss half the knick knacks, pull weeds, and address the piles of junk outside. We were disappointed for what we paid and now I understand why it was the only cabin left we could find in that area on shorter notice.

Fantastic getaway

Amazing views and bird watching. A perfect place to get away and just unwind. We actually got to watch a turtle lay eggs!

Cozy cabin on the water

We had an excellent time staying in Frontenac on Lake Pepin. Awesome water front lot with views of the bluffs! Great place to disconnect and spend quality time with loved ones.

rustic cabin on the lake

Loved it. We love Frontenac and the surrounding area. You can hike to the state park from the cabin (3.5 miles to point no point) We Kayaked, Hiked and even did a winery tour at Villa Bellezza in Pepin. Our Host was conscientious and helpful. On our first night we blew a fuse and the refrigerator was out, Randy came over at 7:30 the next morning with a bag of ice (in case he couldn't mend the fridge) and even some of his homemade maple syrup. He was able to get the fridge running and we were home free. We will be back!

Perfect Fall Getaway

My husband and I took a long weekend for his birthday up to Lake Pepin. What an absolute gem this cottage was! All of the stresses of life just melted away from the gorgeous scenery and I just loved all of the charm and neat antiques in this home. We will definitely return!!!!!

Wonderful get away a short drive from home

We were looking for a cabin not far from home and we found in Randy’s rustic cabin in Old Frontenac on Lake Pepin. What’s amazing is the property (not the cabin) was underwater because of flooding on the Mississippi River 3 weeks before we arrived. But the lawn was cleaned up, we parked the pontoon on the beach and moved into the cabin, which is older, but has a large living area and was very clean. There’s no TV reception, no internet and cell service for a spotty, but we loved it! Our 7 day stay was relaxing. There’s a nice fire pit and 4 golf courses nearby. We spent our days in the pontoon and our nights grilling and playing games. Randy was extremely good at communicating with us and making sure we had everything we needed. It was wonderful and we will be back.!

Needs upgrades

We understood some of issues with the river flooding. The first impression was bad. Entryway needed cleaning and paint was in I’ll repair. The grill was unusual dirty and needed some inner parts. Grill tools we’re discussing. Some the furniture was in disrepair. The view was wonderful and could be a top notch place. We did leave a note telling them about the issues.

Great location

The location was great. Enjoyed the view. It was unfortunate that the lake/river flooded prior to our stay, however, we were still able to enjoy the kayaks that were provided. It was also nice to bring our pets to enjoy the vacation. I think the place just needs a little repair, the windows facing the lake did leak a little when it rained/stormed the one night. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

This rustic cabin is in a lovely setting with very kind propery owners. Randy is extremely nice. He ( and his mother ) went out of the way to make sure we were happy. Such awesome people!

Rustic cottage

Great stay, host provided s’more making material and firewood. Great fishing and view of lake Pepin. My wife’s father grew up in Frontenac so it was a trip down memory lane. We loved hiking at the state park.

Lake Pepin visit

Looking for a place for a family gathering in Minnesota. Found this cabin on Lake Pepin. It is a rustic cabin right on the water. Fulfilled our housing needs and greatly enjoyed the scenery. Had campfires every night and enjoyed the array of wildlife present. We would look to rent here again if we are back in the area.
