The Cottage is located 20 minutes from Kinmount for groceries, LCBO and other necessities. Bobcaygeon, Fenlon Falls and Minden are all 40 minutes away for more in depth shopping options. The cottage has 3 separate buildings perfect for large families or multi family groups. The main cottage includes 3 bedrooms, kitchen, large living area and a separate dinning room. The bunkie includes it's own living room, 2 bedrooms and a loft. The boat house overlooks the lake with a bedroom and it's own porch over the water with seating for two.

Outside there is a deck off the main cottage with an outdoor dinning area with great sunset views. The is also a large Napoleon BBQ for grilling.

By the water there is another large deck overlooking the lake. There is also a dock for sunbathing or the launching off point for the kayaks. Finally there is a large fire pit surrounded by a flagstone seating area for roasting marshmallows.

The lake is deep water entry with stairs down into the lake. The lake is spring fed with a limestone base so it tends to be very clear.

While we had had an overall satisfactory experience the mattress on the double bed in the Main cottage was a disgrace… old, collapsed into the middle and very uncomfortable. Also the information concerning boat rental was out of date. The marina had ceased renting boats which was a disappointment to us. Also the information on keys was a bit confusing… the number of keys provided was different from the info provided.On the positive side the kitchen/dining setup was great as was the waterfront setup…great kayaking and swimming and a huge fire pit

Created great memories while staying at this rustic cottage on the lake with family. We had a minor issue and the host responded immediately and the issue was resolved. Grandchildren loved fishing from the dock. The boathouse, bunkie and main cottage provided plenty of areas for sleeping and grabbing a quiet moment.

Beautiful property on a gorgeous lake. Great for everyone to have a little space (bunkie, boathouse) but lots of room to gather in the main cottage. The lake is true to its name - crystal clear. The kids jumped off the dock 500 times and never got tired of it. The little beach (White’s beach) nearby was perfect for the little kids. We really enjoyed our stay! Thanks to Nathan and family for sharing your family cottage with us!!

Family reunion for 10. Great experience, lots of room, great fun in the water.

The cottage has been recently renovated, great kitchen easy to find everything. We played cards in the dining room, ate most of our meals on the deck. We loved the lake, lots of floats, kyack, two decks to watch the water and enjoyed the fireplace. The cottage is great for large groups and families of all ages.

Home away from home

We had a wonderful weekend at this cottage. Plenty of beds across 3 buildings gave us both time together and our personal space. The outdoor area had space for games, an easy walk to the water and plenty of dock space. The main cottage has a well appointed kitchen. Lots of places both in and out for a bigger group to rest and relax. The host was very responsive to any questions we had both before and during our stay.

Lovely stay here with family

Nathan's property is beautiful and we had a lovely stay with my family. The lake front view set up for kayak and fire pit was very well set up and allowed for lots of outdoor activities. The kitchen was extremely well stocked and had everything we were looking for. Location of the cottage itself is fairly secluded from town. We had a couple of senior family members and the path down from the car to the main cottage was a bit difficult at times to get to (unloading and loading), however, other than that, the cottage has lots of room for all family members. Ideally for the different rooms, there are some fans (eg boathouse) due to lack of AC, but the lake breeze was fairly sufficient for our stay. Overall, would highly recommend the stay!

Great Place, Outstanding Host

The place was awesome, tons of space and very comfortable for my friends and I staying there. Loved having the water so close, the updated kitchen inside was amazing, definitely appreciated having the dishwasher for all of our meals. If you’re going in peak summer make sure to bring a few fans with you! Lots of ceiling fans in the place, but it can still get a bit toasty during the day.A huge storm rolled through and wiped out power for the area during our stay. Nothing to do with Nathan, but he was very available and helpful in helping us through it so we could continue enjoying our stay. Overall 10/10 Kawarthas cottage experience! Highly recommended.

Great cottage

The cottage was a lot of fun. We went with 4 people and had so much rooom. The cottage could fit up to 15 people if you wanted. The cottage was clean on arrival. The dock is beautiful with very nice chairs right at the edge. We spent our time sitting there during the sunny hours. We had no power the first night on arrival but the whole lake had an issues with power too. Power was on by the time we were awake and the owner even gave us a refund for not having the power the first night. The water was crystal clear and the lake was beautiful.

Great Lake and cottage! All 10 of us enjoyed

We had 10 of us rent this place for May long weekend and no one had any complaints! The lake was beautiful and we caught a lot of fish right off the dock! The beds were actually very comfy and we liked that there was 3 different housing areas incase anyone wanted to sleep earlier or anything.. The fire pit got tons of use and there was more than enough chairs for everyone. The walk way down to the cottage is a little steep but it didn't bother us considering once you are there we didn't leave.. The marina was only a 5 min boat ride so we brought our fishing boat but we also got a lot of use out of all the games and outdoor things they had at the cottage for us to use! It was really clean when we arrived so we wanted to leave it just as we found it. We got to meet the neighbors and they were very nice as well! All in all it was an amazing weekend for the 5 couples and we had so much fun! I certainly recommend this place

Our overall stay was very good. The lake had great fishing and swimming but because of the wildfire we could not have any campfire all week. There was plenty of great outdoor seating. You need to be careful with the chairs around the table on the deck as the legs can slip through the gaps in the deck and we had a couple of spills. Nice job on the renovations in the main cottage. The ceiling fans kept it comfortable. Those who slept above the boathouse had some anxiety about the stability of the building as it appears to have a bit of a lean to it. Our only other issue was garbage. A secure place to store it outside would have been helpful because 12 people generated a fair bit over the course of a week and it was not great having to keep it inside. We did not use the dump pass as it wasn't open on Thursday or Friday when we packed up to leave. Luckily we had room to take it all with us. It's a beautiful spot and we really did enjoy our stay. The kids were able to catch fish right off the dock and we also tried the gocart track and mini put near Mindon, both were a big hit. Thanks for a great week!

Family consensus was very positive overall, and we would return to Crystal Lake.The water and swimming were great. The whole family was in the water every day. Both docks were in very good shape and allowed entry into the water. The kayaks were used daily, the canoe should be thrown away with a couple of the life jackets.Having the 3 buildings for our family was very useful. Each group had some level of privacy and waking times did not have to be 'negotiated'. We happened to have a week with very high temperatures, so the number of fans in bedrooms was not adequate for the heat and lack of air movement, especially in the bunkie. We did bring extra fans, but would bring more/bigger.There was a large thermos for drinking water, but it would be nice if there was an actual water cooler on site.The garbage situation was a joke for a group of our size; one bag!The main cottage was very good. Cooking area a decent size and well appointed. We moved the dining table to the area next to the kitchen. It worked fine there, and left us more storage room just off the kitchen. The bathroom was large and easy to keep clean, great shower. The washer/dryer takes forever and does not dry that well. It would be better to have small stackable units, in my opinion. The boathouse was fine for sleeping, and a coffee in the morning seated on its raised 'balcony' is a great way to start the day. Since it does not have running water, a commode could be useful.A nice surprise for our family.

Great location on the lake and easy to launch our kayaks. Once we got them down to the hill. We did not realize how steep the path and stairs would be from the parking and Bunkie to the main cottage. With Grandma and Grandpa joining us we rearranged the sleeping locations so they would not need to walk up and down. Once situated everything was great

Had a fun week with the family at the cottage. Kids loved fishing, swimming, jumping off the dock. Having 3 separate sleeping quarters worked really well. Cottage was well stocked with everything you need to cook or barbecue.

Property is fantastic for our family. We were able to utilize all 3 accommodations for our family of 8. The lake and docks and decks were perfect. The newly renovated kitchen and all utensils provided were great.The only thing missing was a sandy beach on the property but fortunately there is one only a 15 minute walk from the cottage. Grandaughters loved catching fish right off the dock and roasting marshmallows on the large campfire.We all voted that we would definitely return if we can.Thanks!

Overall enjoyable time. Place was clean and had a beautiful view. There was no AC so bring a fan if you run hot. We lost power during our stay due to a massive storm and host was great at communicating with us and helping us get the water back on once the power returned.

A bit dated, but still excellent stay

I had great communication with the owner who responded to all my emailed Concerns. As stated, it’s not a 5 star hotel, thus, it met my expectations. Although the stove only had 1 burner, we used the bbq to cook most of our meals. Al in all we emptied the gas tank! Will definitely rent again.

Great location

We had as many as 12 during our week. Property is gorgeous and lots of ways to be entertained, both indoors and outdoors. Fire pit fantastic. Beds comfy. A couple of negatives, that have been mentioned in other reviews going back 2 years: stove now down to one weak burner; sliding screen door doesn’t work properly so had to keep main door closed, limiting fresh air in the cottage. A serious cleaning is needed (don’t even look under the couch in the living room). Nathan was so helpful and quickly available. Yes, it’s tricky getting from cars to buildings, but healthy legs have no trouble. It’s definitely rustic, but we loved that - a true cottage experience.

Great cottage

This was our 3rd summer staying here and once again we had great weather and a wonderful time. We were thrilled with the addition of another kayak and a paddleboard. This kept our 5 grandsons (ages 4-11) very busy. We eat all our meals outside at the patio table and bring our own dining fly up to keep out the bugs and/or rain - that gives up a beautiful view of the lake , fresh air and also frees up the dining room table for games and puzzles. Our only complaint/problem each year would be with the stove -really hard to cook for 9 people on the only 2 tiny working burners and the oven seemed to burn a lot of our food. Would reccomend it to others as a great place to stay

Fun midweek stay

Excellent experience renting the property. Nathan was friendly and very responsive to questions about our stay. We also really appreciated the flexibility of checkout on our last day as it allowed us to enjoy the property for a few more hours. Great fishing, tubing, skiing and relaxing. Pleasant Stay

This review is for the first days coming out of COVID lockdown. All of the fundamentals of a rental were great. The property had been professionally cleaned; the check-in/out process was smooth; and the host provided excellent and expedient communication. Pros: - A lovely semi-private location on the lake, amongst many other nice properties. - The route to the property is easy to follow. - Fantastic to plant yourself on the dock and enjoy the scenery. - Seeing wildlife in the area (birds, fish, otters, deer) - A nice little sandy beach is a short drive, walk, or kayak away. - Versatility of having three different buildings is fantastic. - Nice firepit. - Pleasant kayaking routes on the lake. - Beds were comfortable. - Bugs weren't really an issue until you get up into the wooded area away from the lake. Just keep the doors closed. Cons: - Not under the control of the host, but the garbage requirements can be inconvenient, in that you are permitted one free bag and it must not contain recyclables (or else you'll have to sort it when you drop it off at the dump). There isn't anywhere to store garbage inside/protected from animals if using all of the buildings, so you're living with the garbage or keeping in your car. - There are a lot of the hosts knick knacks, which are okay, but many were precariously placed. We had a couple instances where items spontaneously (no shaking) fell off shelves and nearly missed someone's head or property. - There's a fair bit of junk laying around the property grounds that could stand to be cleaned up (old appliances, broken furniture) but it doesn't ruin the view if you're looking at the lake. - The structures could use some basic handyman fixes to address minor inconveniences. Doors are coming apart. Deck rails are popping off. Broken oven burner. - The deck gaps are wide enough for the dining chairs to fit through, so you can fall through if you aren't precise in your chair placement (suggest an outdoor rug to fix). - Must be very on top of food management (keep things in sealed containers) and vacuuming (provided) to keep mice away. Overall, it was a very pleasant getaway to a rustic cottage on the lake. Ideal for groups. Not the best for small children, but manageable with very close attention.

Two family vacation

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. It is a cottage, not a 5 star resort as the owner mentioned. There are a few things that are starting to get worn likely from excessive use (the screen door as example) but I trust the own, Nathan, is on it as communications with him were fantastic. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable, well supplied cottage with rustic charm then this is the place for you. The swimming does not have a sanded area but is clean and clear, plenty of little sunfish and bass for the evening fishing experience with the grandchildren, lots of lawn area and newly refurbished deck space to lounge on as you watch the loon on the lake. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful Lake

2 families of 4. We had a great time, the neighbouring cottages are close but they all seemed friendly. There was a hiccup with the wifi but that's not what cottages are for anyways! The lake was beautiful the kids were in the water for hours everyday. Kayak trips everyday were relaxing. Thanks again!
