Place was clean and comfortable, a great sanctuary from the brutal heat and storms. Loved the location - farmers market at tower park was an unexpected treat. The reason for 4 stars was a very slow running drain in first floor tub and only 1 wine glass in the house. I reported these to the host with stipulation that they wait until we left to fix them. We preferred not to be interrupted as we were on tight schedule and there for a limited time.We would rent again

Polar Express Getaway!

Family came in from out of town for the our yearly polar express ride and it was an amazing stay! Great space for gathering and great sleeping accommodation!

The kitchen area was very clean and comfortable. A couple minor suggestions might be a few more kitchen towels, storage containers, plastic wrap, etc. Overall, the place was wonderful; plenty of space for all our family. The park right across the street was amazing. We had a truly memorable anniversary dinner at Favazza’s which was just minutes from the house. We can’t thank our host enough for the prompt and kind responses to any questions we had. Great experience in a great city.

Prime location- great space large families

Plenty of great updates, two kitchens and multiple bathrooms. Worked perfect for the family. Plenty of space to spread out. Perfect location. Only recommendation we have is spraying for insects on regular basis, especially basement and attic space.

Family Weekend in St. Louis

Property was exactly as advertised. It worked well for our purposes. It is an old house that has been redone well, but you still get things like chipped paint and some doors that stick and are hard to shut etc. This was not a surprise, but if you have a large group that likes to eat together or just all be together, there isn't really space for either. It was clean, beds were comfortable, the AC worked well.

Excellent stay for me and 19 other friends!

This VRBO was a great experience for me and 19 friends reuniting for the weekend! Very spacious and clean. Communication with the renters was amazing. I was even able to park my car in the garage which was a great plus! Two kitchens and two living rooms = twice the fun!

We gathered for my dads 80th and it was perfect. Loved being on the park! The space allowed room to all hang out indoors and out. Central location to everything and easy to get around. Thank you!

Wedding Weekend

We loved the house. The location was perfect for the wedding. It held 12 people comfortably. The park across the street was beautiful. It was centrally located to all things St. Louis. We could have used some dressers to put away our clothes.

Perfect for our Retreat!

We stayed at the property for our professional organization’s Board Retreat. We had enough room to conduct our business meetings, dine together and sleep. The home has all the modern conveniences you could want, but it still has the charm and beauty of an older home. It was very clean, and the owner was very responsive throughout. I highly recommend it, and I hope to stay there again. We all loved it!

Beautiful Home and great location!!

The house was absolutely perfect for our big family group that was visiting St. Louis for the week! Really enjoyed having a nice home with all the amenities and a beautiful park across the street for the kiddos to run and play at night. Parking was not an issue at all with the garage and street. Great location- close to grocery, site seeing, parks, etc.! Great communication! Would DEFINITELY recommend for families traveling together for the holidays! Thank you again!

Perfect Location - Tower Grove Park Area

Wonderfully done four story duplex that allows Internal connectivity to both units. Plenty of rooms for our 4 families (8 adults and 4 kids). Across street from Tower Grove Park which is expansive and well kept. Walking distance to a variety of ethnically diverse restaurants. Driving distance (15 min) to zoo that has free admission, walking distance to Botanical Gardens! Perfect for our family get together!!!!

ABODEbucks had me sign more paperwork than I had to with my mortgage. That meant the booking confirmation took several weeks while they kept adding additional contingencies to sign. Some of the trim was coming off the doorframes with nails sticking out. While the kitchens are renovated nicely, there are some cabinets you cannot open/use without hitting the ceiling light fixtures. The host ended up letting us check in before 5 but wouldn’t confirm the possibility before the afternoon we arrived which was just tough with such a late check in.

Wedding Weekend

Everything was as expected and more! We had a large group for a family wedding. Close proximity to Tower Grove Park, Botanical Gardens and all that St Louis has to offer. Big garage to park in & easy parking on both sides of the street was a bonus! We had 5-6 cars and did not have any issues. Thank you for being a great host and adding to a wonderful weekend!

Shaw neighborhood

I think that this is the ninth different VRBO that we have stayed at in the Shaw neighborhood in four years. I think that it was furnished better than the rest. It worked extremely well for our extended family. Checkout was very simple and straightforward. I don't know why owners make them complicated sometimes. There are always nits with these really old buildings. The only problems that I had was getting the garage door opener to close reliably. That's not much of a nit. Overall it was was very nice and we would stay there again.

The rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms all clean. 1. The floors were really dirty. 2. The bedroom (where you go out to the garage) one of the legs came off. when we put it back on it didn't match.3. Ottoman in living room. The one closet to the fireplace was wobbly so we check the legs. Several screws missing. So to be careful with your stuff, Glass coffee tables put in adult rooms and all breakable went high up. Ottoman moved out. I just didn't want ANYTHING to break! :-)You have a great house and location. We would recommend your place. Thank you for letting us stay,

Beautiful house, but not very clean.

Beautiful house. Not very clean. Within an hour of arriving children feet were black on the bottom. We moved furniture and swept and found toys food and dust bunnies as big as baseballs. Too bad you don’t keep that beautiful place in better condition. TV was falling from the wall from improper installation. Beware of extremely late checkin and early checkout.

Thank you for the review. We do allow you to get an early check-in request and also want to add our check in times are set for the size of the properties. They can be large and take a bit of time cleaning. We have upgraded our cleaning staff and inspectors for help assisting cleans becoming better. We hope to show you a five star stay in the future.

Good could have been better

We had 10 adults and 9 kids. The rooms and house were big enough but we were unable to use a room with 2 queen beds due to having wasp nests in the window and over 20 wasps in that room. Maintenance came to handle the day of check in but when the issue arose again the second day the maintenance did nothing but pick up the wasps we killed and were on the floor. Having kids around the ages of 2-10 around wasps was nothing something we thought would be a scenario we would have to deal with. The house was in a good location, enough room, kitchens and bathrooms were updated well but the situation with the wasps could have been handled better.

Meh...

If you need a big house to sleep a big group, this does the trick. Very spacious, great location across from Tower Grove Park. It works if your intent is simply a place to sleep.Not a cozy place, the furnishings are sparse and cheap. No dressers, no luggage racks, no area rugs, cheap bath towels, almost no decor. Two living rooms, neither big enough to seat half the people this place sleeps. Two kitchens, both with the bare min-enough to eat a takeout order. Listing describes this as a "family home", when in reality it is a duplex that melds together, a point not revealed to me until the check in process began. The rental transaction and 48 hours leading up to check-in were quite frustrating. When I requested to rent, VRBO stated that a response would be provided within 24 hours. The host then proceeded to ask questions regarding my intentions - why was I visiting, what were our plans, etc. It felt wierd, not something I've ever experienced with past VRBO hosts. Well past the 24 hour point, I finally told the host to "rent or get off the pot" so to speak , and got a rental agreement.48 hours out, I was asked to fill out a check-in form, and provide a copy of my photo ID - which I wasn't willing to do. I called VRBO for help, and was told all that was needed was my name and photo, so I provided a scrubbed version of my ID. Much strife could have been avoided if the host had been up front about what exactly was needed from my ID and why.

Great Accommodations for our Family Reunion

Cool. Clean. Comfortable. Convenient location. Updated. - We stayed 5 nights in a very hot 3rd week of June and it was cool inside from the top to the bottom on all 4 floors. We enjoyed the large kitchens and living spaces on the 2nd and 3rd floors. All bedrooms had doors except a bonus space in the basement (1st floor). All bathroom fixtures worked great from the 1st to the 4th. We thought the lighting was good. Both kitchens had newer appliances that worked properly, plus the big islands with 10 seats each made sharing and eating together wonderful. The kitchens were adequately supplied, including with coffee, some cooking supplies, lots of plates, bowls, glasses and mugs. We used both laundry areas - the washers & dryers worked great. The location is excellent, with adequate street parking (usually across the street) , close to downtown, Forrest Park, the Botanical Garden, and many attractions. The nearby Grand Station MetroLink Park & Ride was a great way to get to Busch Stadium (or the Arch). We loved Tower Park w/ the Farmers Market on Sat. It all felt very safe. Would like to see: 1. Earlier check in than 5pm; plus checking out at 10 am cut those days short. 2. Back yard seating (very nice space) 3. Type of Mattress (maybe the next purchase - these were new or like new - but a dense foam). 4. TV in bedrooms. Basic instructions on using the Roku system and which services are usable without logging in to personal accounts would be helpful. There are no DVD/Blu-Ray players. 5. More towels - maybe 1-1/2 per guest instead of 1. - Only issue we encountered was in the lower unit. The kitchen was dirty, as well as the floors in the lower unit. We contacted the management company shortly after 5 pm and found it was too late to get anyone to remedy this on Sunday. Our group cleaned the kitchen since we needed it. (With the cleaning fee, early check out, and late check in - we had the expectation it should have been clean.) A nice young lady from the management firm came the next day to mop the floors and to clean anything that was needed. She was very nice and apologetic. Except for this initial cleaning issue, we only contacted the management company once asking about a light. They were responsive and helpful. One note - the direct access between upper and lower units was a steep, narrow stair. Overall it was an excellent property, a great location, and worked well for a large family group.

The property is located so close to everything. We all loved the park across the street and the ease of getting to downtown and all the attractions. The hosts were attentive when asked questions I would recommend this house to any large family.

Family reunion

This location was fantastic with a large park across the street for kids to flrun & play. Plenty of parking for multiple families. The multiple levels was perfect. We put young kids down for nap on one level and all other kids and adult were able play talk etc without fear of waking the littles. Overall great experience. Any issues that arose were dealt with immediately by maintenance & management. We had a great time! Plus AC worked perfectly!
