Fantastic home base for travelling the island.

Property was as expected from the listing, wonderful views, great inside of the house, hosts were absolutely amazing to deal with. Hoping to stay here again when we come back next year!

Beautiful property at a very convenient location!

If you are visiting Kangaroo Island, the Baudin House is the place to live! We recently stayed there and loved it. Highly recommended to anyone if you're going to KI with a family or a group of friends.

Home away from home

Beautiful house with stunning views. All amenities supplied with comfort and cleanliness. Perfect location with dolphins frolicking in the water and local Roos and wallabies passing by in the evening.

Stunning property, amazing location

Thanks so much for having us at your property, we had a wonderful few days. The view and balcony is breathtaking and the house was beautifully presented, very clean and had all of the amenities we needed, with some lovely special touches. Ram was an excellent host, extremely accomodating and flexible. We hope to return again!

Penneshaw - Baudin House

Fabulous location with good views out towards Cape Jervis and Penneshaw. Well appointed kitchen and lock up garage. Great space. Enjoyed our time on the veranda taking in the fresh air and views. Walking distance to amenities and restaurants / Penneshaw Hotel.

Penneshaw Delight

Fabulous location with amazing views. Ram was very responsive and easy to deal with. The house is beautifully presented and met all of our needs, with everything tidy and in good working order. We enjoyed having barbecues on the balcony and walks along the beach. Great spot to visit the rest of the island from. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Highly recommend and would stay here again.

Clean,quiet with great views

This is a very clean and spacious property with views of the ocean from the large deck and through the massive glass front wall. Its a 3 minute walk to the beach but far enough away from the ferry terminal to avoid any noise problems. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms were generously provisioned for the length of our stay. Internet access was good. We had a great time.

No hot water.

No hot water. Emergency contact provided was unaware that she was the emergency contact. House is generally OK but not having hot water or a person on the island who can help makes this a bad choice. Owner continues to try to contact me for payment even though I already paid AND I had no hot water. Avoid.

Sweeping views, great location, lacks in cleanliness

Great location walking distance to grocery and restaurants in Penneshaw. Views were unmatched. Unfortunately that is somewhat where the positives end. A day or two prior to check in we got an informational email very subtly saying that 2 (of 3) bedrooms had been prepared for our stay. I emailed the owner and said that we were a family of 4 and want to use all 3 bedrooms. He said that essentially it’s harder to clean 3 bedrooms and that’s why he prepared two. After some back and forth he agreed to have all 3 bedrooms available for our use. I’m glad I picked up on this because if I would have got there and one bedroom had been locked I would have been livid. The email also warned us that hot water was extremely limited and if we used it all up we wouldn’t get anymore. While I understand freshwater is in short supply, after talking to some natives on the island, this seemed to be unusual. If anything, this should have been put in the listing. The whole stay just had the air of an owner who was trying to pinch Pennies at the expense of guest comfort. The house was not clean. There were fresh mouse droppings under the sink. We were dodging mice in the garage. The tea kettle had obviously not been washed in some time and was unusable. In the bunk room, the bottom bunks have been made, but not the top ones the smaller children want to sleep on the top bunk’s, and had been looking forward to it. All in all the location and views are stunning but if you’re looking for a luxury and comfort, maybe look elsewhere.

We are sorry that Baudin House did not meet your expectations. The measures outlined by us regarding water were solely for environmental reasons in keeping with Kangaroo Island’s reputation as one of the world's finest nature destinations. Further, you mentioned mice, they are seasonal and part of the ecological system of Kangaroo Island. We endeavour to trap and transport them to their natural habitat as best we can.

A fantastic property in a quiet town

Communication with Ram was excellent, all information provided accurately which made the experience so enjoyable. Wished we could’ve stayed longer, but time goes by so quickly when out enjoying the wonderful sights and people of Kangaroo Island. Whilst it was on the opposite side of the island of the national parks, if we go back we will finish in Penneshaw to relax and unwind before heading back home. If there is one negative and it’s so minor, the table tennis table could use replacing as it is very badly warped which had a few serves hard to read. But there’s a fire, internet and everything else a group or family needs to enjoy time with each other and a view to soak in with the odd Kangaroo or wallaby hopping by in the evenings.
