If you came to Iceland to get away from it all, Eyrarbakki has the perfect balance. Our property is located in a small village on the seaside, close to Reykjavík and the Golden Circle, but a world away.
In the property are 16 guest apartments: 8 Deluxe Apartments with private decks, offering glimpses of the ocean, 8 Standard Apartments (no view, but recently renovated and comfortable inside) and our 36-bed hostel. You will stay just steps from the ocean, next door to a small shop and walking distance to one of the best restaurants in Iceland.

This Deluxe Studio apartment has a King size or two single beds, sitting area with TV, and extra sleeping spaces with a sofa bed. There is a small kitchen in the apartment.

In the property are 16 guest apartments: 8 Deluxe Apartments with private decks, offering glimpses of the ocean, 8 Standard Apartments (no view, but recently renovated and comfortable inside) and our 36-bed hostel. Would not recommend

Luckily we only had to stay here one night. Online pictures of apartment are accurate however we unfortunately found it to be very unclean and noisy. This small strip of apartments is connected to a hostel and it seemed that their communal room must have backed up to us because we could hear loud talking and laughing all night. You check in at the hostel entrance and the front desk person walks you around the side of the building and shows you your room. When we came into the room the bathroom door was closed and even though he explained everything in the room to us he oddly left the door closed. As soon as he left we opened the door and realized why… it smelled like an open sewer line! We sprayed everything we had with us in there and it still stunk horribly the entire time we were there. The floors were sticky and gross and we had to wear our shoes the entire time. The bathroom was so disgusting we all brushed our teeth at the kitchen sink and everyone refused to even try to take a shower here. I would not recommend this place!

Es war ein rund um gelungener Urlaub. Für Tagesausflüge im Süden von Island ein idealer Ausgangspunkt. Das Appartment war sauber und modern eingerichtet. Es war klein aber fein und für 2 Personen total ausreichend. Die Küche war super ausgestattet. Das Personal war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Wir können das Objekt sehr empfehlen. Nach Buchung des Apartments, erhielt ich sofort eine e-mail vom Vermieter zur Bestätigung. Er bot an behilflich bei der Routenplanung bzw. Gestaltung des Urlaubs zu sein. Der weitere Kontakt vor der Reise und vor Ort gestaltete sich komplikationslos und unkompliziert. Das Apartment war so wie beschrieben. Die Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir sollten kommen wenn etwas dort fehlte oder wir etwas benötigten. Wir haben uns dort seh wohl gefühlt.

Just the ticket

Cosy and clean little apartment, in a prime location for exploring the south of Iceland. The hosts were very accommodating, providing a cot and highchair for our young son. Had everything we needed and was located closely to Selfoss which has your main supermarkets. Very conveniently placed on the door step is the self-serve petrol station, very useful for road trips like we had.

Great location, very nice place!

Bakkihostel and apartments is a very clean and comfortable place. It had everything we needed. Eyrarbakki's location is convenient, being under an hour from Reykjavik and Keflavik airport, and 15 minutes from Selfoss, on the Golden Circle.

Very very nice place !

We stayed for one week, and it’s just perfect. The appartement is cozy. We were lucky and we have seen northern lights, Ouah..... To recommand!

Extremely clean, helpful, friendly, beautiful location, nice drive from airport

So helpful at check in and friendly. It was great to get such a friendly welcome so late at night and to have everything fully explained, the location was amazing, the shower was heaven, the couch bed was so comfortable and my mom said the regular bed was comfortable as well, we loved the cute mugs and the hand blown glasses what a unique country touch. The town was so cute and had great history to see. Just love loved it!

Expectations exceeded!!!

The apartment was clean and well maintained and the staff quite helpful and responsive. Would definitely stay there again while exploring southern Iceland. We highly recommend checking out the restaurant overlooking the ocean just down the road about 3 miles!!!!

Lovely studio, good location for touring the area

Great studio apartment. Very clean and modern and felt spacious. Ample drawer and hanging space, comfortable bed, lots of little extras supplied. Highly recommended.

Lovely apartment in quiet, pretty town on the coast

We loved our stay here! So close to Selfoss but feels really remote and peaceful. The apartment was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Jessi!

Clean, neat, quiet and perfect spot.

It was a very nice and clean apartment, we choose to stay for 4 nights. You can see whole south of Iceland from Sulfoss to Vik. And even Thingvellir and Gulfoss were easy to reach from there.

The apartment was new and clean, it was wonderful!

This apartment was perfect for my husband and I. We had more than enough space. Check in was a breeze. I would highly recommend this place to any couple traveling in Iceland!

Newly renovated studio, well-suited for family of 4

Nice clean studio in this sleepy little village. Bathroom was modern and clean, ok counter space, ice shower with rain head and hand held. Kitchen was a counter with a stove, microwave, toaster, and small fridge. Enough dishes for simple eating, pan for frying eggs, etc. Beds were comfortable. The king is 2 twins pushed together, the double couch was already made up for us and was very comfortable (not like a hide-a-bed in the US). Town was quiet- no street noise and room darkening shades worked well. The place was easy to find. Owners were nice

Nice remodel but not super comfortable

The decor is lovely and the neighborhood is nice and quiet. Unfortunately, the beds werr very hard and the room was poorly ventilated so se had to sleep with the front door open. Still, we enjoyed our stay and loved the museums and low-key village life.

A great stop!

Our room was new, clean, and the staff who checked us in could not have been friendlier. We decided we needed a bigger room and they moved us to a larger one with no hassle and only a tiny bit higher rate. The property is only feet away from the ocean so the view is fantastic!

Clean, Simple, Warm

This was the perfect apartment to set up base camp and venture out around Iceland. There were 2 of us, and we had plenty of space. The apartment was very clean and modern. Jessi was always prompt and friendly in answering any and all of my questions. I highly recommend this place!

I'm Jessi, an American living in Iceland. Together with my husband Jóhann (who's Icelandic), we own and manage the local restaurant Red House (The Red House) as well as 16 guest apartments and a small hostel here in Eyrarbakki.

Our apartments are located in the old fish factory in the heart of the village, right on the seaside. This large building was abandoned for many years after the harbor closed and the fishing industry shut down. Piece by piece, we are turning it into apartments for guests. It's perhaps not your typical vacation rental, because the apartments are purpose-built as guest accommodation—but it's a tiny village and we would like to invite more visitors to come and stay without taking family homes off the market. A small part of the building has a 36-bed hostel, and that's where we will meet you with the keys.

My husband and I are both avid travelers, having living in Thailand, Mexico, and Honduras before moving to Iceland. We love Iceland and our little village, and we
