The cabin was very clean and just the right size for my husband and I. I was very surprised at how quiet it was considering there are other houses close by but if we didn't know any better, we would think we were the only ones on the property. The location feels remote but it's close to Ft. Payne (restaurants, groceries, Walmart...) and DeSoto Falls Park. The hosts were very friendly and we enjoyed having the property dogs come hang out with us when we were outside. I'd love to stay again when I can stay longer.

We had the best weekend! So quiet and peaceful. Bobbie was just a text away if we needed anything. The cottage was adorable and perfect for a romantic getaway! So much hiking and beautiful views nearby if feeling adventurous. Definitely returning as soon as we can.

The cabin was comfortable, clean, and felt like a home away from home. The host was friendly without being intrusive. We loved having the comforts of home without any hassles. We were close to sight seeing and restaurants. We also had what we needed to cook meals. We enjoyed feeding the fish and some catch and release too. It was so peaceful and exactly what we needed.

Wonderful house, wonderful host. There were some spiders hanging around the house, but that can be expected in the middle of the woods. However, there were some in every room. In addition, some of the amenities were past their "best by" date by a couple of years. All in all, these are minor details. In all other aspects the property/house were clean and well-maintained. Thanks for a great stay!

If you're looking for a laid-back, beautiful retreat - this is it! It is just as it is photographed! Such love and care was put into making this getaway stress-free. So many DVDs, board games. Kitchen is stocked with all the little things. Bobbie & Ray are such great hosts. They are available and close by. THE BED - Oh my gosh, THE most comfortable bed! We will definitely be returning to their little slice of heaven!

Anniversary Weekend

We were looking for a quiet place to go and getaway. We found it! Black Bear was in a very quiet location, very clean, had everything we needed and a very comfortable bed! We ate at the Elevation Bistro and had a delicious dinner!

clean, comfortable, centrally located. really enjoyed our stay.

Great weekend with all the comforts we needed for the two of us. Enjoyed the fire pit...cooked hot dogs. Will definitely come again.

Weekend get away.

Loved the cabin. It was so peaceful. We loved the dogs visiting with us in the mornings and at night around the pond. Thanks for working with us on our arrival time.

This was our 3rd time staying at The Black Bear Cabin! As always it was fabulous!! Ray and Bobbie are amazing host!! We cant wait to return for our 4th stay!! Highly recommend

Quiet rest

It was our third time staying in The Wilderness. We like the remote area with pond in front. The look and feel of it is peaceful. It is a great getaway for a quiet rest.

Amazing!

Property is gorgeous with amazing trail and swimming hole from property. Our team loved spending several days here. Hosts went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and enjoy our trip.

Wonderful Retreat

This is our second time to stay at this wonderful, relaxing cabin. The outside to the inside screams relaxation. This time we were able to meet the host, they were wonderful. We will be back.

Winter at The Wilderness

The cabin was perfect! Even if the temps outside were in the 20's it was cozy and clean and quiet. Will definitely be back in warmer weather.

Black Bear

Love the Wilderness and it’s hosts. My second time - first was Mountain Meadow. Beautiful place and great weather made it a wonderful getaway.

We enjoyed our stay at Black Bear cabin very much. It was very clean and well appointed. The hosts were very kind and personable and answered all of our questions and took care of all our needs in a timely manner. We enjoyed fishing in the pond and actually caught 4 fish! Our only complaint is that it was farther out of town than we realized it would be. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the drive in and out of the site. It is a beautiful rustic area and provided a great few days in the mountains without the crowds and traffic of larger places. Altogether enjoyable!

10 year anniversary trip

This place was absolutely perfect for our weekend getaway the cabin was just as pictured but just better in person super cozy it rained the whole time we were here so we didn’t get to walk the trails like we wanted to but I definitely will be back and try another cabin on the property the property manager is very nice and easy to communicate with
