This house is exactly what I picture when I think of a beach cottage, it was perfect. It has everything you need, no more and no less. The beach is a short walk across the street, the house is in a convenient location and super dog friendly. We had a wonderful time here and will definitely stay here again.

Cottage was cute, decor. Beach cross street. Lots of good restaurants around, convenient location. Cottage has no amenities, bring your own or buy them, dish soap, soap, paper towels, bathroom paper, cleaning products. Overall cute place to stay. Great location.

Cute little cottage!

Cute little cottage just a short distance from the ocean. While not fancy, it meets all your needs for a beach vacation. It was a very clean and comfortable place for the weekend at a great price! Rentals by the Ocean was vary accommodating, allowing early check-in as they were leaving early for the day. This worked out well since we were there for Taste of the OBX and had time in-between events. Was able to take a nice nap! Thanks for the hospitality!

What a precious gem in Nags Head

We stayed at this property for our first family vacation in three years. I was overjoyed at how peaceful the four homes location was while still being accessible. It was my first time where the majority of the week it rained. This home made the rain so relaxing (best sound machine out there). It was perfect in size and renovation work done to this home smartly utilizes.the space. The kids adored the bunk beds. The ceiling fan in that room is amazing. I want one for my own home! Master bedroom mattress was very comfortable, better than any other in a rental ive had in the 20 years ive come to the Outer Banks. Grill was functional and allowed for delicious meals. Our dog loved being there. The yard is small but it gets the job done! Very short walk to the beach and no stairs to access the neach either. Immediately told my family about this place as we would live to vacation together but have individual space. These quaint beach huts would be perfect for joint family rentals. I look forward to returning. ❀

Dog friendly

The best part was the cottage was in between two beach access points- perfect for a dog walk loop. Great basics for a long weekend visit. Only downside - the beds were not made. The description says towels and linens but on arrival learned that beds weren’t made. We were informed this is normal for a VRBO rental and most people bring own linens. A first for us, we have stayed in a variety of rentals and the beds have always been made. Linens available were synthetic and clean. The blankets seemed a bit dirty so we went out and purchased our own. I’d say this was the only negative thing about the cottage. Kitchen supplies were good. Couches comfy. Overall, a great basic cottage for a weekend visit. Communication with the rental office was stellar. They were prompt with responding.

This is run by Property Managers, which is not stated until AFTER paying. It should be stated up front for those of us who prefer not to rent from property managers for whatever reason. The property manager was nice and helpful when we did speak.The biggest complaint was there was a loud buzzing noise on and off that could go on for hours in both bedrooms making it impossible to sleep even w/ noise machine. Finally figured out it was the pool filter on in the next door property right up against bedroom. Didn't call the property mgr cuz they have to know and it's not like they can move the place. Since only staying one more night, just sucked it up, but went home EXHAUSTED instead of refreshed as one prefers during a vacation. No place located in an otherwise quiet area during the evening should be rented when there is buzzing for hours on end, esp in the bedrooms - unless there is full disclosure.Close to the road, so will hear car traffic unless all the windows and doors are closed. Few cars at night so quiet then.Everything was clean. Have to make the beds. Seemed to be stocked with all the appliances you would need, but didn't use them, so no comment there.

Perfect Beach Getaway

We had a great stay! The rental was clean, well-appointed, and had everything we needed. The location couldn’t be better, and we especially appreciated the private walk to the beach. Communication before our stay was clear and helpful, and it was a nice surprise to get a call on check-in day letting us know the place was ready early. We’d definitely stay here again!

Property was very clean, neat, nice amenities. Mattresses were great, and the towels were of very good quality. Property manager, Ronni, was very responsive when we could not get the TV to work properly. She came immediately to fix it and was very helpful. We will definitely stay again.

Spare of the moment

We got a break in our busy schedule and needed a much deserved getaway. The place was great and dog friendly and only footsteps to get on the beach. The house had everything we needed to get through the week. Very convenient to everything around grocery store, shops, and much needed ice cream in the evening

Great small cottage close to the beach and allows dogs

This is our 2nd stay at Four Winds. This trip was with 2 adults and a teenager plus our 4 dogs. The best things are how close it is to the beach - very short walking distance to beach access both private and public, the fact that they allow dogs and have a small fenced in area for the dogs, and it is nice place with updated kitchen. We enjoyed our stay yet again!

Property was clean and well represented in the ads, me and my wife loved to stay there was close to everything. In 1958, she became the first female physician to open a private OB/GYN practice in Newport News, VA.
Dr. Forbes was the first woman to be selected to the board, and the first female president, of the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula, where she was honored as a member of the “Wall of Fame” – the first and only woman to be so honored in the club’s 65-year history.

Sarah was often honored for her contributions to the organizations she served, and the community she loved.
Among her many awards were the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities’ Humanitarian Award in 2007, and the Medallion Award which is the highest recognition presented by The Boys and Girls Club of America to volunteers.

She served as president of several community organizations that include the Virginia Peninsula Academy of Medicine, the Newport News Chapter of the American Cancer Society, the Newport News Medical Society, and the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Her generosity benefited many organizations, including the Cancer Society, the Newport News Medical Society, the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Family Planning Council, First Baptist Church of Newport News, the Peninsula SPCA, Mariners’ Museum, Riverside Hospital, and Christopher Newport University.
