Outstanding Beach House!!

This is our second year staying here and we had a fantastic vacation. We had the beach all to ourselves (even on a holiday weekend) and the kids had a great time looking for crabs, turtles and other sea creatures. The views from the house are like no other. We enjoyed sipping coffee every morning as we watched the dolphins swim by. The house is super clean, comfortable and has simply everything you need! Thank you so much, we can’t wait to be back and enjoy once again!!

Great long weekend

Beautiful beach front property, very clean, kitchen well appointed. Area is quiet and peaceful, but close enough to restaurants and shopping if you want. Owner was very friendly and helpful when I made a mistake in booking. Thank you for a great weekend.

Wow!

This house is perfect! I have never stayed in a beach home that had a more fully equipped kitchen, with every imaginable high quality small appliance, more than enough of every type of dish, glassware, silver and cooking supplies. There was even a water cooler with regular deliveries! The whole house was spotless and well maintained. The beds were new and super comfortable. The layout gave every room in the house a great view, and the decks were large with great seating. The location was great - very private with large beaches and virtually no other people! And I cannot say enough about our host, Ashley! She is a rockstar and was so helpful and friendly. I would stay in any beachhouse she owned anywhere. She made sure everything was so well equipped - binoculars, games, videos, books, puzzle books, beach chairs, floats, and umbrellas. It was absolutely perfect! Thank you so much, Ashley!!!

Vacation Rental Experience Exceeded Expectations

Great long weekend at Broadkill

We had a great time - the house has a direct path straight to the bay! We went in September and basically had the whole beach to ourselves. The house owner had lots of items to make your stay comfortable and easy. They had many beach items to borrow as well as bikes! The house was clean and modern. I highly recommend!

Beautiful Beach House Experience on DE Shore

This is a beautiful home on a lovely quiet stretch of Broadkill Beach. We loved waking up to the gorgeous views of the bay, enjoying meals overlooking the water, swimming and playing on the beach just steps from the house. The quiet coupled with the proximity to excellent restaurants in Lewes and other activities is a winning combination for a perfect summer vacation. Thank you!

Fantastic home and beach!

A definite 10. The house is fresh and airy with great kitchen, dining and living areas, and 2 comfortable outdoor decks with wonderful ocean views, The most games, beach chairs, and kitchen utensils we've ever seen in a rental home, all excellent quality. Unbelievable private beach with soft sand extending for miles - perfect for sitting, walking or playing in the mild waves. Ashley was extremely responsive with questions, and to a special request that really added to our stay.

Fantastic House and Location!!

We’ve stayed at a few different houses along Broadkill Beach and this is our favorite!! The house was super clean and completely as advertised. The views of the bay are breathtaking and can be seen from almost everywhere in the house. The kitchen has everything you need and all appliances are modern. The owners (thank you Ashley!!) answered all our questions and were very responsive. You can tell they’ve put a lot of thought in upgrading their home for families to have a truly wonderful vacation. We can’t wait to be back and enjoy once again!!

A magical family time

Our family of six had a healing, relaxing week at this beautiful home on the beach. We loved the house and the setting and the sound of the waves. The newly redone, spacious kitchen was thoughtfully outfitted with everything we needed to cook together. Upstairs bathrooms are newly redone and lovely. We spent lots of time on the decks and in the wonderful porch and playing, relaxing, and walking on the gorgeous beach that is just down the private path. We would definitely return!

Awesome!

This beach house was the absolute best! It is clean and well stocked; especially in the kitchen! The furniture and beds are also comfortable! The decks are fabulous! We loved the views of the beautiful beach; even on rainy days! We fell in love with Broadkill Beach; found crabs, turtles, horseshoe crabs as well as dolphins in the evening! My sons kayaked and fished in the bay and marsh. We cant wait to go back! The property owners also checked in via email to make sure we had settled in! 5 stars for everything!!

Great views made for an amazing week.

We really enjoyed our time at Broadkill beach and at this Waterfront Retreat. The house is beautiful and had stunning views of the water from both levels of the house. The beach was quiet, not crowded, and littered with lots of seashells for the picking. We did encounter some biting flies on a few of the hot, humid days but bug spray seemed to help ward them away. Don't worry if you forget to pack your sand toys, chairs, games, kitchen equipment, or anything else you might need while on vacation, as the house was fully stocked (inside and outside). One note, if you're bringing a pup with you is that there are small cacti and fire ants in the surrounding "grassy" areas. They weren't a problem for our pup but we kept to the area between the rope and the road. This was our first time in the Delaware beach area and we were grateful for the list Ashley had sent to use prior to our trip. It really helped when planning on where to eat. We loved our time here and hated to leave at the end of our week.

Wonderful Family Vacation

We had a wonderful family vacation here! The house is great! The views are breathtaking, the house is well appointed and very comfortable. The owners have done a great job of upgrading an older home while keeping its sweet “beachy” charm. The kitchen has everything you need, they even go above and beyond compares to other places we have stayed with cozy throw blankets, some kid toys/books, and a variety of beach supplies. The beach is just steps from the house and we felt like we had it to ourselves most days. We did battle some serious bugs (biting flies and mosquitos) during our stay but the water was warm and calm so staying in there all day to escape the critters wasn’t hard. We did have a couple days where the wind came off the ocean and kept them away. The owners also left an awesome list of local attractions/restaurants which we definitely tapped into when we wanted to venture out. With young early rising kids, we caught the sunrises most mornings via walks on the beach and it felt surreal at times how serene and beautiful this sweet strip of beach is. We have zero complaints or suggestions on the house. They’ve really done a great job. We will definitely be back! Ashley was very responsive and accommodating.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The little things made it even better (hamper, charging outlet, dog mat for the bowls). Incredible views from the family room and sun room and master bedroom. Love the kitchen.

7th year and still loving it!

The property has always been well kept, clean and accommodating for our extended family. The owner has always been very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The area is beautiful and calming.

Great Location, House is about 50%

My review is two-fold: one of those who aren’t quite so picky and love location above all else and one for the more discerning traveler (see below). The positives of this house is that it is in a great location: right on the beach, hear the waves no matter what, totally secluded, mostly relaxing, and very comfortable. Bring your food, unless you want to drive 30+ mins to pick something up. We cooked in almost every night and enjoyed all of our meals among the relaxation of the waves and the shore. That’s an experience you can’t beat. You sit outside when it’s nice and enjoy your tea as you watch the sunrise. Most days, the beach was ours and ours alone - not a soul for miles. Great for walking the dog and just being. Relaxation at its best. BUT… For the more discerning traveler - this house is old and only about half renovated. The kitchen, living room and outdoor area are all new and very comfortable/functional. The master bed (the only one we used - except the night when the winds picked up to gale force winds and my husband had to go sleep in another room because the windows and house, especially upstairs where the master bedroom is shook so bad he couldn’t sleep) is very comfortable. The upstairs bathroom is shared with the room across the hall and is very old and small - you can barely fit one person and we are small people. We had multiple issues while we were there - eg. Windows not closing and a clogged tub. The owner/manager was mostly very responsive but that didn’t make up for the rusted old windows that we struggled with all week (even after they were fixed - we were too afraid to open most of them since they would get stuck again), and the fact that the bathroom, when not clogged, would whirl like a whistle whenever the shower was on. The other two bathrooms appear to be renovated but it’s mostly cosmetic - they need to be fully redone. SO, the discerning traveller DOES NOT reserve this house for a relaxing bathroom experience or to ventilate the home naturally (allegedly the windows will be replaced in January, according to the contractor who fixed them). These were two big downfalls for us (especially when you’re paying more than $700/night including taxes and fee (IN OFF SEASON!). Oh, and the washer, which is VERY old, didn’t work on the last day we were there - luckily we didn’t try to use it earlier in the week. In sum, go for the location, but if you want a 5-star experience (or even a 4-star) stay somewhere else.

A comfortable, relaxing house at the beach

If you are looking for a great spot to get away from the boardwalk crowds but still be close to good restaurants, this is the house for you. The house is well maintained and sits on a quite beach. We were drawn to it because they allow us to bring our two dogs but soon discovered this is wonderful beach house well appointed for staying in but close enough to Lewes and Rehoboth for a night on the town. We have been vacationing here for several years now and always look forward to returning.

Hi! We're the Hazzards. We purchased our home in late-summer 2016, and have been working to get it just right for our guests ever since. We reside primarily in Baltimore, but love to spend our weekends in Broadkill Beach as much as possible. Life is busy chasing after our 4-year old daughter, Sloane, 1-year old son, Beau, and 9-year old fur baby, Sammy. We hope you'll enjoy a relaxing stay at our beach house with your family and friends!
