The Barn is found in Ashton village, set back, well off the main road in a peaceful location but within easy reach of Porthleven, Helston, the gateway to the Lizard peninsula and Penzance, an historic harbour town and gateway to the rugged Lands’ End peninsula. There are footpaths accessible from the house for a morning stroll with your dog, sandy beaches within a mile and all the major attractions within a 30-40 minute drive. The Barn is a great base for exploring the whole of West Cornwall.
The Barn lies within easy access of Rinsey, a stunning headland with a gorgeous, dog friendly beach. From Rinsey you can pick up the wonderful south-west coastal path. Head east to Porthleven and onwards to the Lizard or west to the mile-long sandy beach at Praa Sands and on via Prussia Cove to Marazion and St Michael’s Mount.
The property is set within a large wooden fence making the garden secure for pets and young children. Ample parking for several cars. There is a large, flat garden mainly laid to lawn, with a terraced patio at the front of the house. There is also a gravel patio area to one side of the house. Behind the house is a large agricultural building, utilised for daffodil pickers in the winter months and occasionally vegetable pickers Spring/Summer.
Access to the property is through a door at the rear, leading straight in to a large open plan living and dining area. Useful hooks for coats and storage for outdoor equipment can be found by the front door. To the left of the hallway is a separate utility room with sink, washing machine and drying rack.
The bright kitchen is a good size and well equipped; with large fridge / freezer, single electric Neff oven, ceramic hob, Neff dishwasher, microwave and plenty of space for storage. The living area is a large room with full height vaulted ceiling; dining table and chairs for six people, comfortable leather sofa and three further armchairs, there is also a wood burner for use on colder nights and large smart TV. There are double French doors opening out onto the patio and lawned garden.
The bedrooms are found to the back of the property, with a large family bathroom with full sized bath, separate shower enclosure, basin and WC. There is a bright double bedroom with double bed, bedside tables, set of drawers, TV and door leading outside. A twin room with two single beds and hooks for storage. At the end of the house is the master bedroom with wooden framed double bed, bedside tables, cupboard, chest of drawers and a TV. There is a small ensuite with shower enclosure, basin and WC. There is a patio door from the master bedroom leading to a further gravelled patio area which gets the morning sun so perfect for a leisurely breakfast.
The garden wraps around three sides of the property with the lawned area facing south at the front; mostly laid to lawn with pretty dry stone walls, large wooden fence and pretty garden tubs. There is a picnic style garden table and two further outdoor chairs, a BBQ and tub at the back of the property for washing out sandy wetsuits.
Porthleven is also a popular spot with the locals for harbour jumping - something you must try if you have some teens in your group - they love it! Just make sure you only try this at high tide and wet suits are highly recommended! The Barn is also a short drive to the popular beach at Praa Sands, a great spot to spend a few days, lazing on the mile long white sand beach, grab some body boards and enjoy the waves whilst there! There are a couple of great options for food and drink at the far west end of the beach, there is plenty of parking at this end too. Make sure you always have an up to date ticket in these car parks - they are very well known for giving parking tickets!!
