Other popular attractions within the town are Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum, The Tutankhamun Museum which features a spectacular recreation of Tutankhamun's tomb and treasures, and The Keep Military Museum. Within easy reach is the Jurassic Coast, and the popular locations of Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Weymouth, Burton Bradstock, Westbay and Charmouth.

Famously named Casterbridge in Thomas Hardy’s novels 'The Mayor of Casterbridge' and 'Tess of the D’Urbervilles', it is easy to appreciate how Dorchester and the surrounding area inspired the author. Just a short stroll away you can amble along the River Frome, and nearby you will find the ruins of a Roman villa with its mosaic tiled floors.
