Welcome to Preko, the heart of the island of Ugljan, situated just opposite Zadar. Its old centre boasts the typical Dalmatian architecture and numerous patrician family summer houses. Stroll along the quay or unwind on one of the terraces overlooking the Zadar Channel to immerse yourself in the Mediterranean atmosphere.

Only 80 meters from Preko lies the enchanting islet of Galevac (Školjić), covered in lush Mediterranean vegetation and home to the valuable 15th-century monastery of Franciscan friars of the third order. The islet's sandy beach is perfect for swimming and relaxing. Close by, the beach Jaz proudly carries the blue flag, a symbol of its clear waters.

Don't miss the 11th-century Romanesque church of St. John, located on the eastern side of the locality, near the ferryboat landing. For a breathtaking panoramic view of over 200 islands in the Zadar archipelago and Kornati National Park, embark on an excursion to St. Michael’s fortress (265 m above sea level), starting from Preko.

Ugljan is one of the most picturesque islands in the Zadar archipelago, just a short ferry ride away from the mainland. The island offers excellent ferry services, with a pleasant 20-minute ride from Zadar. With its coves, surrounding islands, and rich maritime life, Ugljan is a paradise for diving and fishing enthusiasts. The island's inland treats visitors to around 50 kilometres of trekking and biking trails, showcasing a vibrant tapestry of colours, scents, and breathtaking panoramas.

The eastern side of the island is dotted with charming tourist localities such as Kukljica, Kali, Preko, Poljana, Sutomišćica, Lukoran, and Ugljan, where around 7,500 inhabitants call home.

For travellers arriving by air, Zadar International Airport is less than an hour away from the islands of Ugljan and Pašman. Low-cost airlines operate direct flights to Zadar airport from over 25 European cities between March and the end of October. Additionally, the islands are easily accessible by ferry from Zadar to Preko (Island Ugljan) and from Biograd to Tkon (Island Pašman) via Jadrolinija ferries. During the summer season, ferries operate every hour, and tickets can be purchased at the Jadrolinija ferry company's agencies at the departure harbour.
