Really confused by the 5 star reviews
The house itself is nice, great kitchen that is well stocked, although the pots and pans, etc are very old. It's clean, has a nice view, and a quick drive into town, but there are more negatives than positives unfortunately. Here are some things not mentioned (or buried in the listing description) that I wish I knew before booking:
1. There is a tenant living in a garage apartment that is *attached* to the house. I don't think they were there during our stay, but this factor alone would have kept me from booking in the first place.
2. The water absolutely reeks of rotten eggs. There are signs inside the house that mentioned a "slight" sulfur smell due to well water but it is not slight in the least. We tried to fill the nice jetted tub in the bathroom and the ENTIRE house smelled of rotten eggs before it was even half full. Completely unusable tub, and the showers were no better. Even washing dishes felt gross.
3. The next door neighbors have multiple barking dogs that they let run loose all over the property. My kids could not play outside in the snow due to fear of the dogs.
4. Both of the fireplaces were out of order which was really disappointing. There is also zero cell service. None.
Altogether, not a very pleasant stay, as there were too many accumulative negatives.
