Enjoy the best of the Ausable River Valley & Huron National Forest

Clean, Cozy and Perfectly Decorated, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath Cabin bordering the Huron National Forest.... just a short walk to the Scenic Big Creek. We are centrally located to all points of interest in Oscoda County.
You will be pleased to find a host of basic amenities. This is the perfect place to unplug from your busy life and enjoy watching the various wildlife and many bird species right out your window, relax, read a book and don't forget a quiet starry night campfire. Your stay can include many outdoor activities, such as: visiting the large neighboring Amish community with their tidy farms and unique stores, fishing, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, ATV riding, hiking, scenic overlooks and much more. We find that when many of our guests arrive they prefer to just stay and enjoy the very unique, quiet and natural surroundings.

This Cabin is an Adult Only Rental. We welcome 3 night minimum stays as well as weekly rentals.

* One of our main goals is to keep guests costs at a minimum. We do not charge a cleaning fee and you will not see a " Host Fee" when you finalize your booking. For everyone's convenience fiberoptic wifi is available. There is a Verizon Cell tower in our Village of Luzerne. We provide an up to date T.V. and D.V.D. player so bring your favorite movies and connectivity devices along.

- We are located in Oscoda County within the Huron National Forest and the Ausable River Valley.

-We are currently the 6th least populated county in the state, this includes the U.P. Counties.

There are several points of interest in the area.....

- A large Amish Community in the Mio area with many tidy farms and interesting retail stores.

- There is a very large network of ATV and Snowmobile Trails.

- Horse Back Riding

Cabin was perfect. Although very close to road, there was very little traffic at all. We would probably pay a cleaning fee rather than do the cleaning ourselves.

We had a great time in this beautiful cabin. It had everything we needed to relax for our long weekend. We loved the two porches and spent most of our time outside. Definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway.

A great getaway

I stayed for a few days just to get away for a bit. The cabin was quant and clean. I enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels, having a fire every night, hiking on the nearby trails, and generally just relaxing. Would highly recommend this location. The hosts were wonderful and everything was super easy.

Perfect cabin

This is a very nice property and cabin. The owner Nick stopped by after we checked in to see if we needed anything. The place is just like the pictures. Very clean. Great place. We will be back.

Great Little Cabin

We spent the weekend at this great little cabin. Nick was very welcoming. We loved watching the birds at the feeder. The highlight was the Pileated Woodpecker. The wood burning stove makes the place so cozy and it was only a 7 minute drive to MaDeeters.

Beautiful Cabin!

We were so thrilled with our stay. The cabin is clean and rustic. It gave us everything we were looking for and more. Each morning Irene feeds the birds and they are so fun to watch all day . The hosts were very informative and helpful with all aspects of our stay! We were recommended by a friend and it lived up to the hype. We look forward to staying again.

Cabin in the woods

We enjoyed our three night stay at a cozy cabin in Luzerne. Two outdoor fire pits for gathering one was log the other gas. Great private outdoor area with deck also to enjoy the forest area and bird feeders. The living room couch and chair were futons and allowed extra sleeping areas besides the queen bed. Kitchen had nice gas stove and everything needed to enjoy your stay.

Sweet get away

Everything was clean, well kept and well stocked. The house is adorable!! We loved the door wall view of the wild life and the choices of patio's to choose from for our meals and morning coffee/tea. It's secluded and private. Directions were very accurate, we had no problem finding the place. Local attractions are just a few miles away, in either direction of the house. Our hosts, Nick and Laura were very accommodating and have thought of everything. We couldn't have been happier with our stay, we will be recommending it to friends and family. And we will be returning in the future! Nick and Laura, thank you for sharing your home with us, we truly enjoyed ourselves, it was so wonderful and pleasant. Nick I need you to text me, we have to get your venmo information because we need to reinverse you for the condiments in the refrigerator that my husband took by accident.. lol Much appreciated and needed, Colleen

Wasn't good

On main highway. Traffic noise. Lots of spiders. Got charged 50 dollars because they said husband left coffee grounds in coffee maker. Possible but whish they would have said something to us first. Vacuumed whole place and wiped down counters and floor when we left. Said wasn't clean enough. Look around. Much nicer places with linen and towels with better location. Had to trailer sxs to trails.

The property presented exactly as listed. Beautiful little cabin in the woods. We were able to get out and kayak the Au Sable, explore the area, and just enjoy some down time away from the city. Nick was extremely responsive and provided excellent directions. We would definitely like to return.

The cabin was well stocked and clean. Nice location-a little road noise at times, but wasn’t an issue for me. Check-in was easy. My only issue was the list of things to be cleaned before leaving-the shower, toilet, sinks, sweep the floors, mop the floors, sweep the front stoop, take garbage with you, make the bed, (even though you bring your own sheets?) There were specific instructions on how to clean and leave it for the next guest. I don’t mind straightening up but feel a guest shouldn’t have to “work” after having a relaxing visit. My suggestion is to get help with the cleaning and adjust that into the price. MHO I did not enjoy the pressure of leaving the place “like you found it”. Or at least post these requirements into your description so it’s clear what is expected.

We found the cabin was well equipped. Wi-Fi access worked perfectly. The cabin layout provided plenty of room making it a comfortable place to relax. We enjoyed the outdoor seating with pleasant views. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to prepare meals in.

A peaceful spot

What a gem Nick and Laura have here. Perfectly sized for a couple. So cozy and clean. I would sit at the table and watched the birds all day and have been happy. The wood stove was a welcome warmth after trails and hikes all day. The bed was extremely comfortable. If you are looking for peace and quiet. This is your place. Thank you Nick and Laura for sharing your perfect cabin with us.

We cherish this part of Michigan and all that it has to offer.

My Grandparents purchased their property 3 miles north of Luzerne on the Big Creek way back in 1944. They started building their "Red" Cabin in 1965 ( I was 2 years old ).

My wife Laura and I purchased their Cabin in 1997 and have over the years purchased a few others in the area for the purpose of preservation. All of our properties are somewhat connected and private. We live in one that is centrally located to the rest. We do have 1 exception which is a Cabin on the outskirts of Mio.
Mio is 6 miles away and is the County Seat.
