We didn’t realize until the second day that there was black mold on the air conditioning system. We noticed that there had been a previous roof leak because the mold was only on one side of the house (in the two guest bedrooms). There was no air filter in the intake and that whole area was absolutely covered in black mold. When we got to the property, we didn’t check over the property. It wasn’t until the next day when we actually looked over the house. I believe the house is in basic disrepair. Examples are broken towel racks, floor tiles lifting, dirty outdoor furniture, food crumbs, etc. I sent a message to the host that there were things that we noted because we didn’t want to be responsible for these things. The host was angry because we didn’t let her know the first day. I didn’t ask her for anything, but she indicated she would have gotten someone out to correct the issues if we had reported it when we checked in. We didn’t see the mold until after we stayed one night. Because it was Thanksgiving week, she said she couldn’t get anyone out to make any adjustments. We took pictures of the issues. It definitely was not a tropical paradise, by any means. We’ve probably stayed in 30 rental homes over the years and this home is the first one we have ever complained about. It just didn’t meet our expectations. I hate to give a poor review, but they have to put a little work into that house; most specifically for the mold which we believe is a health hazard.
