This is a cute, 90 yr old house in a great location. Unfortunately, our son is allergic to dust and this house is covered in it. I gave Joan a heads up regarding our allergies leading up to our stay. She was thoughtful enough to contact me the day before our check in to let me know she had instructed her housekeeper of the allergies. When we arrived, the first thing I noticed in the bedrooms were the extremely thick layers of dust on all of the blinds, baseboards, and cobwebs in most of the corners of the rooms, under the beds, etc. I started deep cleaning the room where my son would sleep to prevent asthma flare ups. I let Joan know about the condition of the house, & sent photos of how filthy the cleaning cloths were that I used. She was empathetic and offered solutions including allowing us to find a different place to stay. Unfortunately, there were no options comparable in size for our party of 5 available on such short notice. She sent her housekeeper back the next day with specific instructions. Unfortunately, the housekeeper still didn't remove the dust in the bedrooms. I requested a cleaning fee refund as I dusted so much of the house, and she was agreeable and accommodating. After sleeping in the house for two nights, our son indeed got sick and was unable to sleep the third night due to breathing issues from the dust. I'd steer clear if you have allergies. Otherwise, great location.
