I am disheartened that I have to give a poor review. But upcoming travelers need to know the issues. Until the problems are taken care of completely and certified as such, I cannot in good conscience, leave a 5 star review.
Here are the Pros:
A detailed text with the check in info, property info, expectations and check out was made available, once I sent a reminder text to the owner.
Location is decent. The pictures are exactly of the property. The property owners thought of everything! Kitchen with pots, pans, silverware, dishes, glasses, coffee maker, microwave. Extra basic condiments and filters for the coffee pot. Under the sink: garbage bags, dish soap, dishwasher pods, scrubbies. In the bathrooms, they had supplies of toiletries you might need or forgot to bring. Extra towels. Everything neat and clean.
In garage, there was a washer/dryer with laundry supplies.
The owner was responsive when we couldn't access the code to open the garage and whatnot.
Cons: After a day at the property, I starting showing bug bites on my hand and neck. The second day, my family members were being bitten and I had more bites. It was bedbugs. We found signs of them when we pulled the mattresses away from the walls and a chair when we checked. The mattresses were gross after we pulled off all the bedding as we were doing the inspection. I also found mouse droppings against the wall and on one of the bed's box spring.
When I contacted the owner and sent pictures, they stopped responding. I called and received only their voicemail. I gave them a few hours to respond to the two voicemails and texts. They had more than enough time to return my call, to come over to assess the situation and see what they could do to assist us with finding a new place.
After those attempts failed, I was forced to open a case with VRBO. We spend the afternoon washing all of our clothes in hot water, soap and put everything on high heat and bagged. Whatever couldn't be washed, was sprayed with bed bug spray. We had to find & pay for our own new, unplanned accommodations. Which was hard and expensive on a Fri. night. This was a huge impact our trip. Physically, mentally, emotionally, financially. We did clean up per check out instructions when we left.
Once the owner has extermination services completed, certified there are no more bugs or rodents, replace all mattresses, box springs, clean all carpets, drapes, fans, vents, filter. I would recommend. Until then, I cannot.
