The mansion resides on 5 acres of private land and offers outdoor pool in our mansion where timeless elegance meets modern luxury. This magnificent estate offers a truly unparalleled experience for discerning guests who appreciate the grandeur of a bygone era.
Step into a world of opulence as you enter the meticulously restored mansion, boasting exquisite details and impeccable craftsmanship. With 9 well-appointed bedrooms and 6 elegant bathrooms, our mansion can comfortably accommodate large groups or families, making it an ideal choice for special occasions or gatherings.
The mansion features two spacious living rooms, providing ample space for relaxation and entertainment. The richly adorned living rooms exude sophistication.
For those who appreciate fine dining, our mansion offers two distinctive dining rooms that are perfect for hosting intimate gatherings.
For those who enjoy a taste of the finer things in life, our mansion also boasts a bar, perfect for indulging in a cocktail or a glass of wine. The bar offers a refined setting for unwinding and socializing with friends and family.

Terrific Family Vacation

This is truly an amazing piece of property. To stay in a true mansion, and learn more about its amazing history, made for a memorable experience for us all. Even though we experienced some A/C issues early on; our host Alise couldn’t have been more helpful in promptly responding to this situation, and any other questions we had during our stay. The family had a great time, and especially enjoyed the amazing pool area.

Women’s Retreat

This beautiful mansion was a wonderful setting for a women’s retreat. Very clean and kitchen was well stocked for cooking. So appreciated the bar area and ice maker as well!

Annual Family Vacay

All of us had an amazing time, ages 6-78 years old. Everyones favorite was probably the pool, as it was very warm the week of the fourth. Everyone had their own space in the home and enjoyed all of the fine detail in the mansion. Even though the home is in a neighborhood in the city it is surrounded by trees and shrubs that make it feel very private.

Great Retreat

Our group of 8 life-long friends enjoyed our stay very much. We loved the pool area, the lounge chairs and gazebo with seating. The beds, towels, kitchen were all very nice. It was a welcome touch to have the coffee pods provided. We look forward to your continued work on restoring the mansion and grounds! We are hoping to return next year.

Great Pool

We celebrated a family birthday with 6 adults and 4 children. The house was very clean and well stocked. The beds were all great. We used all the bedrooms on the second floor and there were plenty of bathrooms for everyone. I can’t say what the bedrooms in the basement were like because no one used them. The pool and the cabana were OUTSTANDING!! We were outside most of our stay. We couldn’t get the kids out of the pool. We also enjoyed a little fire each night along with s’mores. Everyone had a great time!

Wonderful experience for our latest family gathering. Living area was extremely comfortable. Bedrooms and baths were spacious and well appointed. Kitchen was well equip. House is very private yet you are only minutes away from great restaurants and shops. Everyone enjoyed the salt water pool and deck area. Can’t thank the host enough for sharing this wonderful home with our family. Hope to return soon.

Excellent stay at Cox Mansion

We had 14 people stay when we came in town for a Memorial for our mother. Age range of our group was 1 to 88. We were all able to sleep in our own rooms and congregate for meals in the kitchen and dining room and hang out outside for beautiful sunsets. The house is beautiful, the beds comfortable, and the neighborhood around it is great for walking in. The rooms were very soundproof which was great for the age range of our group. If you get the chance to stay here take it.

Unforgettable Experience

We had a large group comprised of 4 families (19 people including adults and kids) stay for a long weekend to view the 2024 eclipse. We all had an absolute blast! There was plenty of room for us to spend time together eating or playing games, but also plenty of room to spread out if you needed some peace and quiet. We had fun playing tennis and cooking out on the side patio. All of the bathrooms were well-stocked and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, as well! Both check-in and check-out were easy. We had such an amazing experience staying in a historic mansion with our best friends watching the total eclipse! Truly an unforgettable vacation!

Great Spot for a Holiday Family Reunion !

We spent the Holidays at the 1917 Cox Mansion. Our family ranged in age from 9 months to 93 years and everyone had a wonderful time. We particularly enjoyed the enormous living room U-shaped couch for conversation, opening gifts and watching football. Everyone agreed the beds were very comfortable and it was easy to control room temperature throughout the house. We cooked all our meals during our stay and the only problem was locating supplies, utensils, pots and pans in the many cabinets of the well-appointed modern kitchen. Please note the VRBO listing does not show an enormous (seats 16+?) table off the kitchen in a 2nd formal dining room.

Lovely weekend!

The property is beautiful! The furnishings are comfortable. The home is full of natural light. There was plenty of room for our group to all be together. The upstairs bedrooms provided most of us great privacy. Do note that two of the upstairs bedrooms share a bath and that you pass through one bedroom to get to bath and the other bedroom. In the basement, all three bedrooms share one bath, and similarly, you pass through the bedrooms to reach the others. These rooms were used by the younger families, so this wasn’t a problem for our group. The pool is beautiful, clean and a great temperature. The gazebo creates shade and though the tennis court lines were a little difficult to see, we enjoyed them as well. The kitchen includes plenty of dinnerware and cooking utensils. Very nice property! We would stay there again.

Staying at the "White House"

From the time we booked this property, our grandchildren started referring to it as "The White House" because of the similarity of the front façade. This was built as a governor's mansion. It is an historical home filled with period décor. This was a great place for large families--lots of room to spread out with privacy. Situated in a beautifully landscaped cozy wooded hill in a quiet residential neighborhood. Plenty of easy parking. Amazing in-ground swimming pool (the kids loved it!). Two tennis courts with fencing. Well stocked modern kitchen with new appliances and granite counter tops. Lots of supplies including bed linens, bath towels, pool towels, paper products, detergents, shampoo and conditioners. Spacious bedrooms with king size beds. Library with huge wrap around leather sofa in front of a big smart TV (kids loved this too!). Laundry room with not one, but TWO sets of modern washers and dryers! Host was responsive via texts. Just a few MINOR negatives: When we arrived, all the thermostats were set to 80 degrees. It took a while to cool things off. Could have used more hand towels in the bathrooms. Outside pool and tennis court lights did not work. But like I said, these are minor. In summary, I would highly recommend this property! We had a blast!

Incredible house, Micro-Manager Host

The house is INCREDIBLE. We were four families and the space was more than ample with an en suite for each main bedroom. It is situated in a strange location due to development around this property since it was built 100+ years ago. But, beautiful (minus the fixtures from Amazon and fluorescent lightbulbs in the chandeliers). The grandness of the home lends itself to a very nit picky, micromanaging host. Communication was sufficient but the conversations were as though I was a toddler who might jump on her beds rather than a responsible adult (and VRBO host) who clearly qualified to rent this property. If I had to guess, this is a very large chunk of the owner’s investment portfolio and she is scared to death someone might mess something up. Perhaps liquidating the property ($$$$) and investing the funds in a properly managed asset would provide a return on this host’s investment and allow her to sleep better at night. The pictures do not do justice!!

It is a work in progress and I cannot wait to see it when it is 100% done! To say that the home is amazing and huge is an understatement. I remember viewing the property on the site and thinking the rooms just look big...must be the camera angle! I was wrong! They are huge. I felt like I was in a Bridgerton episode as soon as I opened the door and saw the foyer and grand staircase. It was fun to explore all the rooms and it seemed like they just kept coming. We spent most of the time in the library. We had a group of 14 adults and we all fit on the couch comfortably. There was plenty of room to eat together in the room right off the kitchen, which is not even shown in the pictures. It was too cold to swim (December) but the pool looks amazing. There are also tennis courts that are perfect for Pickle ball. I wish we had time to play. We were worried about parking (we had 6 cars between us) and we could have parked 35 more. I was skeptical about staying because I read that it was micromanaged. A bunch of nonsense! Alise was beyond accomodating and even sent us the airpods we left behind. She has no different rules than what I would have if it were my own home. If I have one regret, it is that the house is not closer to where we live. I would have loved to have had our daughters' bridal showers there. The history of the house is fun and we got our steps in! We stayed for our daughter's graduation from PA school at U of D. I wish we found it sooner! Hidden gem!

Family Stay

The house is historic and beautiful! It was well appointed and equipped. Because of the thick plaster walls we were all able to have quiet and privacy. The pool was so awesome, although we didn’t find the hot tub. I loved having plenty of beach towels! I also appreciated the plastic cups that we could use at the pool. And the cabana at the pool, as well as couches and tables provided us with GREAT shade. The three year old in our family loved the pool, the two staircases, and the basement. There seemed to be a problem closing the basement shower door. The library and living room offered so much comfort and the beds were incredibly comfortable.

Birthday Celebration

Family members from around the country gathered to celebrate a 90th birthday. There were 19 of us and we enjoyed all parts of the house and grounds. Outdoor fun included pickle ball, swimming in the heated pool, lounging under the pergola at the pool, and evening campfires. Indoors was perfect for all ages. Spacious kitchen, comfortable sofas and chairs in living room and library, private bedroom suites with comfortable beds, an excellent preservation of an historical mansion!

Perfect secluded place to relax!

Every year a bunch of ladies do a trip. I picked this place for the size and private pool. We had 15 people and needed more room. The place was perfect! Too loud with fun at one end of the mansion, go to the other. Great place for large groups. We did not use the banquet area as that area was unnecessary due to the area available. Alise was VERY responsive to anything we needed, even having something delivered when we asked if she had it in the kitchen! Love her! One item to note on the review complaining about the rules. Clearly, this person has never rented from VRBO or any private rental. The rules for the Mansion are exceptionally reasonable compared to what I have seen at other places. Nothing on the list was abnormal. Don’t let the less than 5 stars deter you! Just rent it!!

Perfect retreat!

We loved our stay at the "Manz" and it was the perfect getaway for our team. We love the historic property and secluded location, while still being close to anything we would need. Beds were comfy and the space was just wonderful.

Wonderful Winter Wonderland

Staying at the Mansion over Christmas was spectacular. The host was Very accommodating to some last-minute changes that came up for us. The property was clean with all essentials. The host had some items to help provide a great experience for our infants also! We will keep this property as a must-re-visit when back in Ohio!

Lovely experience

Our stay here was beautiful. It was the perfect space for our team to gather and be able to get some training and and relaxation as well. Location is great. The beds were comfortable and the house was very much as the listed depicted. The host was easy to work with and communicated quickly with any concerns we had. We would absolutely book here again!
