Located within Pisgah National Forest, and a quick 5-minute drive from historic downtown Burnsville, Barnview Cottage is nestled into the foot of Bee Branch Mountain overlooking the lovely pastoral valley known as Johnson Cove. The 4-acre property includes private Bolens Creek frontage, a white pine forest, and seasonal native rhododendron and wildflowers. Views from the cottage include mature trees with distant mountains peeking through and a picturesque family farm with barn, pastures, and pond.
This SWEEEET well-appointed cottage is perfect for a family vacation, a weekend with friends, a romantic getaway, or an individual retreat. Enjoy the mountain breeze as you rock on the porch with your morning coffee or dine al fresco at sunset. Listen to the distant lowing of cows, watch the day’s activities on the farm, and look out for the occasional visit from wild turkeys and deer. Sit by the creek, fish, or take a soak in the cool mountain water. Select a good book or record from the cottage library while you enjoy the wood-burning stove. Work remotely or just escape the family in the serene Writer’s Roost, a stylish, comfy retreat with desk, wifi, and leafy views. Explore historic downtown Burnsville, which offers excellent festivals, art galleries, shopping, restaurants, cafes, and a popular local brewery great for live music and people-watching.
Barnview Cottage is near a number of great hikes and waterfalls, such as Crabtree Falls, Roaring Fork Falls, and the Black Mountain Crest Trailhead (the entry point for the rigorous 12-mile hike to the top of Mount Mitchell, the highest peak in the Eastern U.S. Its a scenic 20-minute drive to Carolina Hemlock Recreation Area where you can swim in the South Toe River, hike, and, if you’re lucky, spot a black bear. A quick half-hour drive to Mars Hill, Little Switzerland, and the Blue Ridge Parkway, equidistant to Mount Mitchell State Park, Asheville, Grandfather State Park, Sugar Mountain, Linville Gorge, and Roan Mountain State Park, Barnview Cottage is an excellent home base for exploring everything the NC Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer.
We’ve done our best to make packing for a stay at Barnview Cottage a breeze. Pack a suitcase with your personal belongings and a grocery list for a quick stop as you roll into Burnsville. You won’t need much else as Barnview Cottage is kept stocked with dish cleaning supplies (including a brand new kitchen sponge for each new guest stay), laundry soap, and coffee filters for the auto drip coffee maker. Each new guest stay is provided a roll of paper towels and a couple of rolls of toilet paper to get their stay started. Guests must supply their own replenishments of paper products, but what is supplied should suffice for a stay of up to 5 to 7 nights (depending on number of guests staying).

Barnview Cottage is managed by Green Cove Properties, a North Carolina real estate firm. Please note that once booked, Green Cove Properties will ask you to provide your mailing address. The NC Real Estate Commission requires each guest that books a vacation home managed by a licensed real estate firm in North Carolina to sign a Vacation Rental Agreement drafted under strict Commission guidelines PRIOR to arrival. The primary guest mailing address, email address and phone number are necessary for this contract. The Vacation Rental Agreement is for the primary purpose of presenting to you, in writing, all of the financial information you have committed to (without hidden fees) and to summarize expectations. We are happy to provide a blank copy of this pre-written document in advance of booking upon request. Thank you.
