Private Viewing/Sleeping Tower & Modern Cabin - Owner Managed/Maintained

Viewing/Sleeping tower with a modern equipped cabin on 40 acres of private land, offering stunning views & seclusion. Fully applianced, furnished, and ready for your next escape. Lovely Setting for an intimate trip away with you loved one, perhaps a small gathering of family & friends, or to start writing your next novel in seclusion. Services & supplies are only 10 minutes away. You will not find anything like this, it truly is one of a kind.

*Kindly send me a message first before sending a booking request. I am on several different platforms and cannot update the calendar to reflect them daily.*

TOWER: 360 degree views of the surroundings. It is built on piers and has windows on the perimeter. A large table & outdoor chairs on the 2nd Level platform is an ideal space for gathering or picnicking. The 3rd enclosed level with Heat & AC, furnished with a queen bed, bar table & 4 chairs and a long custom built in couch.

CABIN: The Cabin has heat, hot water, wifi, & electricity, full bathroom & renovated modern kitchen with all the main cooking appliances/utensils one would need to make a delicious meal. Comfortable furnishings, linens, pillow choices, blankets, and clean towels are included. Plenty of outdoor furniture and a fire pit awaits you with wood to burn at site. A complementary harvest basket and a dozen eggs is included with every booking provided from our farm.

Owner Managed and Maintained:

What a great place! Beautiful, secluded, and peaceful. The cabin is cozy and really well-equipped, especially the kitchen. The fire tower provided some of the best sleeping and napping I’ve had in ages, as well as great star-watching, sunrise and sunset views, and general relaxing reading while occasionally taking a break to enjoy the scenery.

We had a wonderful stay at the retreat, and it was one of the highlights of our vacation road trip around New York. The cabin was the perfect size for our family of three. Our nine year old son wanted to eat every meal at the picnic table in the tower. We loved the opportunity to go swimming and hiking at the host's farm a few minutes up the road. The extras provided by the host were very much appreciated. If we ever have a reason to be in the area again we will definitely book again.

Wooded Paradise !

Words can't describe how wonderful our stay was at Slateville Retreat. My husband and I were both wrapped up with work, deadlines and long overdue for a getaway. We found ourselves using words like 'lovely' and 'delightful' to describe the landscape, the cabin & views from the tower. Inside the cabin felt like living inside the creative mind of our child like selves. We had everything we needed to cook meals, grill, make coffee, build a fire and best of all allow our dog to run free . Feeling both relaxed and rejuvenated we are already planning a return trip in the future. Thank you for providing such a lovely retreat ! Well done :)

I spent a weekend here chasing dark skies and photographing the Milky Way, and it was exactly what I had hoped for. The open landscape offered unobstructed views of the night sky During the day, the peaceful, quiet setting was just what I needed to unwind. Even without foliage, the property had a beautiful charm that made the whole place feel like a hidden retreat.Heather, was wonderful—friendly, responsive, and made everything smooth from start to finish. Like a dream

This retreat was so beautiful it felt unreal. Heather took such great care of us! Could not have asked for a better host. She even provided us farm fresh eggs and vegetables while we were there. The tower makes for the most stunning sunset views and in the evenings we sat around the fire pit and star gazed. Everything was perfect and truly unforgettable.

What a fantastic property
 a half mile driveway winds up to the perfect cabin and one of the coolest places we’ve ever slept

Perfect stay

This is a lovely property, well-designed and nicely appointed. We found everything to be either as pictured or even nicer in person. Heather was easy to reach and responsive. The property is very private with amazing views, especially from the tower. We had 5G service (T-Mobile) on site and the WiFi worked well in the cabin. Lots of nice and thoughtful touches throughout, like plenty of firewood, nice linens and throw blankets, and comfy outdoor furniture. We would happily return! Thank you, Heather.

Peaceful Hilltop Getaway

I booked my stay at the cabin and tower to get away from my busy life and have some peace. Heather was nothing but great communicating with me from start to finish. I arrived on the heels of a little snow and Heather had plowed and sanded the driveway by the time I was en route. The cabin was cozy and warm— there is heating and plenty of blankets. It is stocked with everything you could possibly need, from Q-tips to a vacuum cleaner. She even left fresh eggs! This cabin has beautiful views and is truly off the beaten path. It was about 20 minutes to get to a local general store but the roads were so scenic I didn’t mind at all. I was able to get fresh baked goods, produce, and more from local sources. It’s only about half an hour to Vermont, so I crossed the border and visited a farmers market, bookstore, and cafe in Dorset and Manchester. Heather left a list of these suggestions at the cabin and they were great! I really enjoyed my stay at the cabin and watching the views of nature from the top of the tower. I would absolutely stay here again! Thanks, Heather!

Amazing!

I've noticed this unusual property last year when we already booked our stay in Vermont. This year we really wanted to give it a try, and it was great! Getaway from it all, very private and quiet, amazing views from porch and - especially - from the tower! Owners are super nice people, we had a minor issue with the heating and they came in in 5 mins and quickly fixed it.

Breathtaking views!

Cabin was neat and tidy and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The tower is awesome - views breathtaking! The only sounds were of the birds chatting. Property manager made sure we had all we needed. Absolutely recommend a stay here!

The Slateville Retreat was everything I hoped it would be! The setting and views are unmatched, and the living spaces were spotless and equipped with everything we needed for a peaceful, joyful stay. Alluring and beautiful

Heather might just be the nicest person I've ever met. Her and her husband were really down to earth, hard working people who are as kind as they come. They did not hesitate to make us feel welcome. We couldn't thank them enough. Communication was clear and forward from the start and we undersood what was expected, which I appreciate. The property itself is indescribable, it was a captivating view on a quiet mountain. The tower was truly unique. We look forward to going back with the kids next time!

An incredible place for a vacation

This is a really special location - we love staying in places that are a little bit different, and this ticked all our boxes. We stayed as a family with two adults and two teenagers - the adults took the lookout tower, and the teenagers the cabin. There was plenty of space, there are many places to sit inside or out, whatever the weather, and the site is secluded but close enough to nearby Granville that going to the store wasn't a chore. The property has amazing views - on fine days the layers of hills fade slowly to the horizon, on cloudy days the valleys are filled with ribbons of mist that swirl around. The night skies are very dark too (unfortunately we had more cloudy nights than not), it would have been great to have brought binoculars! WiFi/internet is excellent at the cabin, but doesn't reach to the lookout (that wasn't a problem for us). At least in the summer when we visited, the temperature of both the lookout and cabin was very pleasant (the cabin has AC, the lookout has the breeze!). Heather was a terrific host, really good communication throughout - she provided us with plenty of eggs and let us swim in the old quarry at her farm which was great fun. Would love to come back one day!

This retreat was exactly what my family was looking for! I can go on and on about how great this place is but I’m going to keep it simple and point out some of my favorites. if your looking for unplugging from the rest of the world “”THIS IS IT””!!!, The view was amazing, The Tower
. that a whole other list I could get into but I will just say one of my favorite is the nice breeze that comes through the tower. The cabin is cozy and well equipped. Overall this place was amazing! So Peaceful!

I am excited to be able to share it with my guests as I operate secluded campsites within our 350 acres and 8 miles of private trails at our farm in addition to renting out our special Retreat Tower, which my husband helped to build. We currently grow pesticide-free seasonal produce, Non GMO/Antibiotic Eggs, and participate in several farmers markets through the summer in addition to selling our own firewood & spring water ice. Our newest additions are our Scottish Highlanders and Heritage Turkeys. We are both CT natives, and I a recently retiree from a 24 year long international career in the performing arts and he an owner of an excavation company. We look forward to meeting you!
